"You're still friends with Devi?" hasbi asked as she and Dira were on their way.
"Yes, why? Do you mind?" ask Dira back because all this time Hasbi never asked about his daily life, as well as the people around him, but now suddenly just ask about his best friend, he said, none other than Hasbi's own former fiancee. The girl felt that the man did not like her. Maybe it has something to do with that event.
"Not really. I'm just wondering why you're still friends with him. Though because of him you became an engagement with me, which you really do not want because you still want to live alone."
Dira who initially looked forward also looked towards Hasbi. There was nothing strange about what Hasbi said because indeed the first time the man's family came, everyone also knew that if he strongly rejected the proposal, but for the sake of the good name of the family the girl accepted all this with great force. Who would have thought that Dira would get married so soon.
"That's true, but in this case I'm also wrong. I can't blame everything on Devi. After all I believe that this is the destiny I have to live. Hopefully in the future whatever the problem is, I can get through it well."
Hasbi pulled the car over, making Dira look back at the man and want to ask, but when she saw Hasbi's serious face, she undoes her intentions and waits for what her fiance will do.
Hasbi took a deep breath and said, "We are indeed married by force, but I hope this is my first and last marriage. I never mess with a marriage bond and I hope you do too. Although there is no love between us, I hope we both learn to understand what the word love means. I will learn to love you and take responsibility for you. I don't know what's in your heart right now, I hope we have the same mission in this life. Even if later you can't stand this marriage and you want to part with me, just tell me. I will give you back to your parents in a good way so that later in the afterlife, I can take responsibility for what I have done."
Dira was still silent, his heart warmed to hear it all. Unconsciously his eyes glazed over. He had not expected to hear a long sentence from Hasbi. Usually the man would only speak briefly, but this time the sentence was so long and pierced into the heart. The girl became more and more convinced that her fiance was actually a good man. It's just that they were found in the wrong way.
"I also want this to be my first and last marriage. I also never intended to play a wedding. So let's both learn the meaning of the word love. Not just love, but love and respect each other. We should always be open in anything. If there's a problem we'll solve together, it should be open to each other, there's no one covered."
"Of course, we will both build this household until solid." Hasbi extended her hand towards Dira. "Let's fight together and promise to respect each other."
Dira greeted Hasbi's hand with a smile. The two shook hands and promised each other. There will be no hurting each other later. If indeed after a hard and long effort there is still no love, they agree to end in a good way.
"And one more thing, I will always forgive mistakes other than betrayal. I don't like to share love and also husband with other women so, never do that even though there is no love between us at all. If only once I knew you were suing me, I wouldn't hesitate to end this household. If there is another woman you love, you can tell me. So like you said, I'm willingly repatriated to my parents' house."
"I guarantee it won't happen because I don't like infidelity either" Hasbi said.
The man drove his car back to Dira's house. Along the way, the two chat with each other, trying to get closer and get to know each other's personality. Hasbi also likes to try to understand women's feelings. Although it was very difficult for him, but still he tried.
"Did your mama tell you how to prepare for the party there?" tanya Hasbi opened the conversation.
"Every day my mom calls me and tells me every process, like I told you before. Mama Sama Asha was so enthusiastic about preparing it. Moreover, Aunt Nisa also helped."
"Tante Nisa? Who's that?"
Hasbi nodded and again asked, "You're just two brothers with your brother?"
"Yes, we're just the two of us."
"If you are alone? I've never seen your brother."
"I'm an only child so, I'm just alone."
"It's only right that your mother loves you so much" said Dira, who recalled how the future-in-law treated the man beside her. Not that he meant to mock because of Hasbi's mama's son, instead he was amazed by the way the middle-aged woman in loving her son who despite looking cold.
"Didn't every parent love their child?"
"Yes, it's just that I can see the immense affection of your mama," Dira replied making Hasbi look at her in surprise. "Bu– I don't mean to mock, but I just feel bad for your mama."
"Why not good?"
"Because I've hurt her son's heart."
"If you're being honest, my mom and dad are happy to have a daughter-in-law like you."
This time Dira was confused by Hasbi's answer. Shouldn't they hate him for being ashamed. He also cancelled the supposed event. Moreover, Devi is also a well-respected family in this country.
"meaning?"
"I don't mean to vilify other people, but my mom and dad would rather you be his daughter-in-law than Devi. Either I don't know the reason either, which clearly he thinks you're better than Devi" replied Hasbi who didn't want to explain the real reason. He couldn't possibly say if his parents had already found out Dira's background in his country.
"Don't look at the person from the cover alone" said Dira who did not want Hasbi to misjudge him.
"That's it, you're a good girl, your manners are good too. That's a plus in my mom and dad's eyes."
Dira was silent, not knowing what else to say. One side he was happy because there were people who judged him not just from physical appearance, on the other hand the girl was afraid of disappointing the Hasbi family.
