I took a shower and changed clothes, with a new work blouse and casual trousers. Sir Xavier was sitting in the living room when I came out. He only wears a black casual shirt and white shorts. As Alma said, he may not be as handsome as my dream. But well he's there, nice guy, is it true I can miss a guy like this.
Try it last night, you'll miss him. Alma's ridiculous proposal. He'll just see me as a troublemaker.
"You ready? Where do you want to eat?"
"What if you propose."
"Italian Restaurant?"
"Can."
"Well my car?"
"Yes fine."
That Saturday afternoon I sat next to him to head to an Italian restaurant nearby that night. At least I wasn't locked up crying in my room. That's very sad. But something like this I can still bear.
"You have a problem." On the sidelines of our trip and the conversation he liked the final result he saw, he suddenly asked. I'm not gonna tell him that's gonna make me look stupid.
"No, it's just a job."
"really?"
"Yes..."
What am I supposed to tell him? My boyfriend made me a bet with 5,000 dollars. If I could never see Victor again, but sooner or later we'd see each other again, what would I do? Kick him? It seemed like it would embarrass myself, find trouble with them, later I realized it was better not to mess with the person who hurt me.
Until now I didn't know what to do. Since I said I was busy, Victor didn't call me until now either.
"Do you need help?" Because I was daydreaming he asked.
"No, of course not. Sir Xavier has helped a lot."
"You can call me a name, I don't mind. That sounds more familiar, no need to be too formal with me. If you need help just say it, or advice. Are you heartbroken again? Yesterday you were stuck at Westbury with a broken heart, what in three months have you been heartbroken again?" He was curious and decided to urge me.
"Not this one is just a friend I can't trust." I still don't accept him as a lover. If it were possible I would be sadder than this.
"Ohh so this one is a close friend who turns out to be a jerk You need my help to judge." He laughed at his own conclusion. Which turned out to be exactly that. I bowed to silence my shame and sorrow.
"Hmm.no, I guess I just wasn't lucky." I let out a breath. I think I want to say what happened no matter what he thinks. Just let him say I'm stupid, I was stupid to almost believe him.
"I know they're placing a bet to get me. Only 5,000 dollars." I laugh now, somehow relieved to tell it. "Only 5,000 dollars. Couldn't they put up a little higher, and the proof should be with a photo together while sleeping with me. I think I can trust Victor, we've been friends since High School. I'm a fool, you can laugh at me."
"Where did you hear that, who told you that."
"I heard them talking to myself."
"Ohh..." If people say it I don't believe it right away but this one I hear for myself what they say.
