"Mom?" Mom suddenly came to the apartment today, I didn't know she was in NY, she and Dad were in Washington, it's four days since Victor's beating, I think her arrival had something to do with it.
"Darling, Mom brought you some food. Are you busy?"
"No, I just I have to finish finishing the final design. No events today, I have a client meeting tomorrow."
"Ehmm. come here. Sit here." This seriously looks like is Victor's mother protesting to my mother? Fucking son Mama.
"Why Mom?"
"Lily Garner, Victor Garner's mother called Mom, she said your affair hit her son. Is that true?"
"That's true, but it's good."
"That's great?! How can hitting people be good?"
"Obviously it's good, to get back my heartache." I told her the full reason, Mother's eyes were round and her lips were propped up hearing my story. From how Victor approached me to what I heard myself, to who beat him up.
"Master Xavier hit him straight away?"
"She hit him."
"You're saying he admitted you loved him in front of Victor? That means you and Xavier have a relationship? How could he seduce you?" Mom immediately suspected Sir Xavier of seducing me.
"No. No, I was just having dinner with Mr. Xavier, I was bothering him because he was recently my chatter buddy, I was having a renovation project at his home in Westbury, he just bought a mansion there and asked me to fix it up, he knows the story about Victor a little bit because I talk to Mom a lot."
"If I have a relationship with her, does Mom agree?" I asked Mom back.
"You like it?"
"Ehm.gah Mom, you know my boyfriends, from the past, handsome, financials are arguably no problem, the problem is his behavior, the behavior is, I'm starting to think men like that get along with their magical behavior because they feel rich and handsome. I don't think I need their magical behavior, stupid to come from a rich family or not, Dad also from an ordinary family Mom, but he's loyal to Mom, a good father to me. I thought my standards were wrong all along."
Mom is quiet now. Contemplate what I say.
"What you said has a point. All this time Mom sometimes forgets what's most important not from which family she comes from but whether she's good for you." Mom held my hand.
"Now, I'm tired of heartbreak and expecting the wrong person Mom. I expected a lot on Alton, actually he's the perfect, handsome, romantic type, arguably from a famous family but it turns out, you know.... And then Victor, when he was my friend from High School, I never thought he would come so lightly to me for a bet."
"You like Xavier?"
"I don't know, but she seems nice Mom? But maybe he's not interested in a troublemaker like me, we're a long way off, or he's helping me out as a liability. I don't know if it's possible, we'll see. What matters is that if I get close to her is okay with you, right?"
"Mom should talk to your dad first. But well as you said, he's a good man Mom tastes, as long as Mom knew him these five years he was the one in charge of his job and never seen in Mom's eyes flirting with women. Mom will support you if you feel she's the right choice for you. He also has a good career."
