Ch 19: Road to Hibachi and Ami

A few hours later...

"Sensei, everything's been cleaned!" Sakura said to Sanada.

Under the power of guilt, the three of them had no other choice but to clean up the restaurant.

Restaurants that were previously dirty and dusty are now gone and replaced with ones that are quite clean and neat.

Sanada looked at the three, who were tired from all the cleaning, and a smile appeared on his face.

"Thank you for your hard work, man, I'll cook something for you three soon." Sanada said while going to the newly cleaned kitchen.

The three heard Sanada was going to cook for them, and soon the tired expressions on their faces were gone.

Everything paid off if they could taste the Sanada-sensei cuisine, they thought.

Hibachi and Ami were about to rest their bodies, but at this moment, Sanada's voice suddenly came from the kitchen.

"Hibachi, Ami, can you come here for a second? I need your help!" Shouted Sanada from the kitchen

" The one that's coming!!!!" The two wasted no more time as they quickly went to the kitchen where Sanada was cooking. They are tired, but their excitement to cook Sanada is greater.

In the kitchen, Hibachi and Ami saw Sanada preparing the ingredients, and there were some shallots and garlic beside him.

"Hibachi, Ami, can you help me cut onions and garlic there? Oh, and please prepare the chicken too by cutting it like this." Sanada said as he gave instructions on how to cut the chicken with his finger.

The two disciples, though tired, still followed Sanada's instructions. The three started cooking, and soon the chicken teriyaki was displayed in front of them.

Sanada and the two carried the chicken teriyaki and rice that Sanada had prepared along the way to the table where Sakura had been waiting for them.

They put food on the table, and after saying "Itadakimasu", the four of them were finally ready to eat.

"Here, Sakura, taste this. It's made by Hibachi and Ami!" Sanada said as he handed a piece of chicken teriyaki to Sakura's bowl.

At this moment, Sakura suddenly felt everything clicked.

At first, he felt a bit confused why sensei who usually cooks complicated dishes suddenly chose simple cooking such as chicken teriyaki. He was thinking whether his Sensei was impartial, but this sentence of Sanada instantly erased all those thoughts.

Sanada's goal is to let Hibachi and Ami find a new passion in cooking because Sanada thinks that the two are not suited to living a harsh life as a ninja.

Their potential was too low, and even with Sanada's guidance, it would be difficult for them to reach Jonin's elite level. So instead of being a ninja and risking their lives, Sanada wanted them both to help him manage this restaurant.

Being a teacher is not an easy job. Sometimes you need to show your students cruel reality so as not to help them make mistakes. And for Sanada, to help Hibachi and Ami that being a ninja is no match for them. Especially after Sanada found out the reason why the two became ninjas just for money.

Hibachi and Ami's father died during a Kyuubi attack twelve years ago, which made them the family's sole breadwinner and why they wanted to become a ninja. The ninja profession is the easiest way to make money in Konoha today.

When the four finished eating, Sanada brought the dishes to the kitchen for cleaning. But just like before, he brought Hibachi and Ami with him.

"Hibachi, Ami, how about you two help me out at this restaurant? The pay won't be that much, but at least I can give you XXXX Ryo a month!" Offering Sanada as her hands continue to move to wash the dishes.

Although Sanada wanted to tell them that they were not suitable to be a ninja, it had to remain step by step. Telling them now would only destroy their mentality, and based on Sanada's plan, the Chunin exam would be a good time to show them the truth.

Hibachi and Ami who heard this fell silent for a moment. Even if they are not as smart as Sakura, they can see the purpose Sanada offers them this job is to help them earn more money.

The money Sanada offers is far more than a regular D-Rank mission, and it's much higher than what a regular restaurant usually offers.

The two of them felt very warm in their hearts, so after all, Sensei always cared for them, they thought to themselves.

Hibachi, as usual, pretended to be tsundere for a while but eventually accepted Sanada's offer. While Ami just bowed and was very grateful to Sanada.

At the end of the day, Sanada and his three students finished decorating the seedy-looking building into a decent restaurant. The building now looked like a traditional Japanese restaurant, and in front of them, there was a board that read "Izakaya Nobu".
