Ch 59: Karin's Concerns

A few days later -

Meanwhile, when everything was peaceful in the village, a red-haired girl was in a dilemma.

After being rescued by Sakura and held back by Sanada, things seem bright to her.

He no longer needed to fear being banished, he no longer needed to be a chakra battery, and he no longer needed to sacrifice his vitality for the "goodness" of the village.

In fact, he had been enjoying the time in his life recently. Excluding the part where Orochimaru attacked Konoha, everything went very well for him and even his training with Sanada-Sensei went quite smoothly.

However, for Karin, as a person who lived her life in fear, her psychology and mental state were unable to adapt to such a sudden big change.

He is now afraid, afraid that if he makes a mistake, he will return to the life he lived before and that is why he tried his best.

Karin is still struggling to find what she can do for Sanada, but then a voice comes from her side.

"Today, are you in trouble?"

Hibachi suddenly appeared, which surprised Karin.

The boy in front of him was another disciple of Sanada-Sensei, and even though they were not so close, he still tried to befriend Hibachi as both of them were fellow disciples.

"It's okay, there's nothing wrong ..."

Karin tries to avoid the topic, but somehow it just confirms Hibachi's guess about something wrong with Karin.

Call it intuition, but after several months of working with Ami, Hibachi became quite good at distinguishing the mood of a girl.

"You... If you feel that way, then you should go home. I'm afraid it's going to dirty up the restaurant, after all, women always have it once a month, right-"

BAM!!!

Before Hibachi could finish his words, Karin's fist had already landed on his face.

He doesn't know why, but just like Ami, his reflexes can't detect Karin's attack.

The carefully trained Hibachi, who could even dodge some of Orochimaru's attacks, could not dodge Genin's attacks. If Sanada-Sensei finds out about this, he will definitely laugh at Hibachi.

"Stupid! Goddamn bum! Bawdy!"

Karin said those words to Hibachi before immediately leaving the restaurant, leaving the stunned Hibachi alone.

'Why does he call me a pervert? What I'm saying is fact, right??'

After Karin left Izakaya Nobu, she went on a walk around Konoha. He saw Konoha's bustling streets and certain thoughts popping into his mind.

'This is not my place..'

The beauty of Konoha, the peaceful environment, is all so different to the village of Kusagakure and it makes Karin want to stay here forever. However, there is a part of him that knows that he does not deserve to be here.

Perhaps because Karin was too focused on her daydream, she did not realize that she was bumping into someone else.

*bumping*

"Okay, sorry!"

"It's okay, more importantly. Are you all right, Karin? You seem so sad lately?"

Karin was a little surprised to hear that voice. He turned his gaze to the person he had just hit, and a familiar figure appeared in his view.

"Sanada-Sensei...."

In front of Karin was none other than Sanada. Sanada though has not had a boyfriend until now is quite sensitive in the matter of a girl. Especially when it was someone like Karin

He put his hand on Karin's head as he patted her.

"Can you follow me for a minute?"

Karin was a little surprised by Sanada's question. Had it been in Kusagakure, he would have immediately known that the other party needed something from him.

But after hanging out with Sanada for a few days, she knows that Sanada is different from the people in Kusagakure.

He hesitated for a while, but eventually nodded, which Sanada responded with a smile.

With Karin following Sanada, the two quickly reach the place where Sanada intended to take Karin.

It was on a hill behind Konoha, where the two could see every part of Konoha from afar.

Sanada gestured for Karin to sit next to him, and the two sat down to admire the view.

Karin has no idea why Sanada brought her here. The view is good, but that's not why Sanada brought her here, is it?

He was still a bit confused when he felt Sanada's hand was on his head once again.

*tap-applause*

"How's your life in Konoha lately, Karin?"

Karin was completely caught off guard by the question. Before, there were some people like Hibachi, who realized something was bothering him and asked if something was wrong.

Every time that happens Karin will always answer carelessly and try to change the subject. But it was the first time someone had asked how he lived.

Such a simple question somehow touched Karin's heart and the two started talking.

This time, Sanada is no longer a teacher to Karin. Someone she can laugh with, smile with, or even gossip with.

Thus without the two of them noticing, several hours passed, and the sun nearly set as they finished their chatter.

"Well, it's late enough now. Let's go back now. We can always talk more tomorrow!" Sanada said as he stood up.

Karin, who was a little too immersed in the chatter blushed at Sanada's words.

Indeed, it was the first time he felt so comfortable and he finally forgot the time while chatting.

Karin was about to apologize, but Sanada was quicker.

He opened his mouth and said:

"In a book I've read before, it's said that we shouldn't rely on or put our expectations on others or you'll most likely be disappointed."

Karin had a lot of questions popping into her head when she heard that sentence. But without him noticing, his hands started shaking. Will he be left again, he thought?

He was ready to beg, but then...

“But personally, I think it's wrong. Humans are social creatures, and relying on someone is normal. You may be disappointed or even destroyed in the process, but that is life. And only after receiving such a lesson can you grow."

Sanada turned his gaze and gave his hand to Karin.

"And that's why I want you to count on me, Karin. Life may suck, but it would be better if we went through it together. I may not be perfect, but I hope you can count on me!"

Hearing Sanada's words it felt like time had stopped for Karin. The layer around his heart somehow melted and he felt that he wanted to trust this person.

As he said, life may suck and he may be disappointed by this and his future choices later on. But for now, he only wanted someone he could rely on.

Without him noticing, a hint of admiration began to grow in his heart for Sanada.

He grabbed Sanada's hand and with a smile that he never showed anyone but his late mother, he said

"Yes, I might be a little weird, but thank you for accepting me!"
