NIGHT BUTTERFLY

NIGHT BUTTERFLY
#169

Sofia opened the blanket that covered her body. He got out of bed and walked into the closet. After opening it, he then took out a purple diarrhea above the folds of clothes. Mr. Nurasmin just looked while waiting for Sofia's mom.

Sofia stepped back to the bed after closing the closet. He began to open sheet by sheet diarrhea, until he stopped on a sheet that folded the bottom end. He then showed it to Mr. Nurasmin.

Mr. Nurasmin frowned. Diarrhea in Sofia's hand was taken. He read.

"For the sake of Allah, I would not have married if not to Master Izzul Islam".

Mr. Nurasmin noticed the date written in the corner of the sheet. Dated January 1, 2023. It was written a few weeks ago. Nurasmin turned to Sofia. Mr. Aminullah sighed.

"What do you mean your son wrote like that, sir," said Sofia's mother. Mr. Nurasmin looked forward. His eyes seem to move.

"Maybe he regretted seeing his Master's sister married to someone else" said Mr. Nurasmin. Sofia's mother let out a long sigh.

"But it doesn't make sense, sir. Layla herself was crying and raging inside her room once she knew she was going to be betrothed to Nak Izzul. How can you not worry, sir. That's why mom was forced to intervene to give her a solution to escape" Sofia said. Mr. Nurasmin was silent. His eyes showed that he was thinking about something. He's starting to look riled up.

"Sir Izzul, even though he is the nephew of the father, but I respect him very much. His age is much younger than the father, but his religious knowledge makes the father reluctant in front of him. And that is indeed the advantage of knowledgeable people. His drafts are much higher than those of the unscientific. Maybe God was angry because Layla's escape yesterday made Nak Izzul's heart disappointed," said Mr. Nurasmin at length. Ms. Sofia held Nurasmin's hand. Hand vibrates. Mr. Nurasmin looked at Sofia who looked anxious.

"Now, where is your son" said Mr. Nurasmin.

"There's a room, sir. He's studying,"

Mr. Nurasmin rubbed his face.

"We can't blame Layla. He was too young to be forced into marriage. Especially with his own fellow mission brother who was much older than him."

Mr. Nurasmin let out a long sigh.

"But the oath can be annulled, sir," said Sofia's mother. His face looked more worried.

Mr. Nurasmin let out a long sigh.

"The oath is not something to be played with, ma'am. But if we are forced to violate it because of more important matters, then we are required to pay a kafarat or fine. First, feed ten poor people. Then the second by dressing ten poor people, then the third freed slaves or servants of peril." Nurasmin turned to Sofia.

"If we are not able to carry out the three options above, then the last option is to fast for three days" said Mr. Nurasmin closing his words. Slowly he laid his body. Sofia's face looks a little soft and calm. He turned to look at Mr. Nurasmin whose entire body was covered in a blanket.

"Come, turn off the lights, ma'am. Mr. Nurasmin said. Sofia went straight down the bed. Before turning off the lights, Sofia turned to look at Mr. Nurasmin who had closed his eyes.

"Sir, I'm going to Layla's room for a second, yeah," Sofia said. Mr. Nurasmin opened his eyes.

Mr. Nurasmin nodded.

"If your child is calm, try asking the problem to your child. We also do not want your child to be unsettled by thinking about the problem" said Mr. Nurasmin. Sofia smiled, nodding her head. The lights then turned it off.

* * * * *

"Layla, have you eaten, son?" ask Sofia. He knocked on the door slowly. Shortly after, the door of the room opened. She smiled when she saw Layla standing behind the door.

"Mom just wanted to say, have you eaten or not" said Sofia's mom.

"No, Ma. Layla is no longer tasteful" replied Layla. Bu Sofia sighed. He then went in and pulled Layla's hand inside. The two sat down on the side of the bed. Sofia rubbed Layla's hair. Layla's face looks withered. He sure is right, if there is a heavy thing that Layla is currently thinking about, it must have something to do with what is written in her diary.

"Son, if there's a problem you're having, tell me about it. Don't keep it to yourself. Lately, every time you check the food you prepare for you, it seems like you rarely eat. I know you're having a problem" Sofia said. His face looked sad looking at Layla.

Layla lowered her face. Her tears are flowing. His crying sounds. Seeing that, Sofia's mom hugged her body. Layla's cry was getting louder. Sofia's mom is crying. He kissed Layla on the head.

"Say, Son. I'll listen to you. I'll do my best to help you" Sofia said. Layla's tears were wiped away. Layla lowered her face.

"Layla is sure mom already knows. Layla's convinced mom's still keeping Layla's notebook. Layla accidentally put it on the table because Layla knew she was coming to clean Layla's room" Layla said.

"Note about your Master?" ask Sofia trying to clarify.

Layla nodded her head. The crying broke again. Sofia tried to calm him down. The crying that was about to spill in his stool. She wants to show Layla that she as a mother has a solution to the problem Layla is now facing.

"Why are you swearing like that, son" said Sofia.

"I'm sorry, Mom. For some reason Layla suddenly felt jealous and did not accept Kak Tuan married someone else. That's also the reason Layla won't join Kak Tuan's wedding ceremony," Layla said. Sofia smiled. Layla's unraveling hair was messy in her tidy.

"Now your Master's brother is married. It's not good to swear like that. If you ever find the man you love, you can still break your vows, of course, with the penalty of paying the kafarat" Sofia said. Her smile expanded trying to give Layla some calm. Layla shook her head.

"No, Ma. Layla won't break my vows. That oath is not something to be broken. After all, Layla was already not interested in men. This may be due to the influence of my oath. Layla wouldn't have married if not with Sis Tuan" Layla said. Sofia's mother let out a long sigh. His head was shaken.

"But how else, son. Your master is now married. You can't ruin people's homes" Sofia said. His face looked agitated again.

Layla looks up. His eyes glared at the ceiling of the room.

"Sir Master does not need to divorce his wife. Religiously, she still has three people to marry. Sis Tuan already has all the creteria to do polygamy,"

"But it's not that easy, son. Your master's brother also does not necessarily want to be polygamous. Nevermind, Son. Abort your oath. We will only pay the kafarat and ask forgiveness for this transgression, son."

Layla nodded back. Sofia doesn't know how to persuade Layla anymore. He sighed long. He looked at Layla deeply and rubbed her shoulders gently.

"Have you prayed?" ask Sofia. Layla shakes. Sofia smiled. Layla's two shoulders were held onto her.

"Let's go. Pray first, let your heart be calm. Ask God for guidance on the problems you are facing. May Allah give you the best way" said Sofia. Layla nodded. Bu Sofia then got up and stepped out of the room. Before closing the room door, he took the time to look at Layla. He is a bit heavy leaving Layla with a problem that she herself as a mother has not been able to give him a way out. But he hopes Layla can change her decision.

Sofia slowly closed the door and stepped into her room.
