NIGHT BUTTERFLY

NIGHT BUTTERFLY
#185

Master Izzul Islam stopped opening the door of his room when the sound of a cell phone rang on the table. He hesitated to return to answer the call. The santri had waited too long for the Maghrib prayer.

"Assalamualaikum, sir,"

"Waalaikum salam. Sorry, kid, annoying. You only want nanya if later like isya' Nak Izzul there is time, you want to visit there. There is something you want to talk about" said Mr. Nurasmin from the opposite direction. For a moment Mr. Guru Izzul Islam was silent thinking about his activities tonight after Isya.

"Nothing, sir. I forgot it was Friday night. Please, Sir. I wait," said Master Izzul Islam with a smile.

"Thank you, Son. After praying isya' insya Allah I went straight there. Well then, let's kid, Assalamualaikum,"

"Waalaikum salam."

Master Izzul Islam closed his call and put his cell phone back on the table. After that he rushed out of the room to the pesantren mosque.

"How, sir," asked Sofia after Mr. Nurasmin put his phone on the table. Although he also heard the talk of Mr. Nurasmin with Mr. Guru Izzul Islam, he was still curious and wanted to hear it once again from Mr. Nurasmin.

"Later after isya' you will be there, ma'am," said Mr. Nurasmin. Bu Sofia looked at Mr. Nurasmin. He let out a long sigh as he looked towards Layla's bedroom door.

"I think you want to say what Izzul Nak is," said Sofia's mom wanted to know. Mr. Nurasmin has not been to the house of Mr. Guru Izzul Islam but he who feels starting to dig-degan. Mr. Nurasmin let out a long sigh.

"Well, how else, Mom. For the sake of our son, you have to cover up your shame. We'll talk frankly about our child's condition. What happened to Layla. We hope, there's advice and a way out of Nak Izzul." Mr. Nurasmin yawned.

"Get me your clothes and peci Bapak, Mum. Isya' soon'. You leave early. Later his prayer isya'nya in the pesantren," said Mr. Nurasmin. Bu Sofia got up and rushed to pick up clothes and peci Pak Nurasmin.

"Oh yes, Mom. Please call your son too. He needs to know that you're going to his master's house." Sofia smiled. Not long after, he returned with Layla behind him.

"Sit here, son," Nurasmin told Layla, who was just about to sit near Sofia's mom. Layla got up and sat down next to Nurasmin. Seeing the face of Mr. Nurasmin who is a little soft, he believes there is good news that will be delivered by Mr. Nurasmin for him.

"Son, tonight I want to meet your Master. I'll talk about something that you asked for. But I can't promise if your master's answer will please you."

Layla nodded. Bu Sofia looked at him fretfully.

"But frankly, son. I'm afraid that your situation will not change if only later the results of your father and brother's conversation will not please you. Are you and your mom going to keep seeing you sad like this? Give peace to father and mother, son," said Mr. Nurasmin expectantly on the sidelines of his face that began to turn anxious.

Layla took a long breath.

"Layla just wants her brother to know that Layla wants him. God willing, Layla's heart might be a little quiet." Layla holds the hands of Nurasmin and Sofia.

"But father and mother do not have to think about and make it a burden if Layla stick to Layla's decision that will not marry if not with Kak Tuan. This is Layla's oath" Layla said. He looked at his parents alternating expectantly, both of whom did not dispute him.

Mr. Nurasmin sighed softly. Looking at Layla's gaze, it seemed that Layla did not want to hear the rebuttal from the two. Nurasmin turned to Sofia. Both Sofia's eyes sparkled sadly. As with Mr. Nurasmin, he no longer had the words to advise Layla. He doesn't want to make Layla more depressed. Allow time to wake up or change your decision.

Tarhim's voice was heard from the mosque across the street. Mr. Nurasmin hurriedly put up his clothes. Layla quickly inserted buttons for the buttons of clothes Pak Nurasmin. The black peci on the table was grabbed and given to Mr. Nurasmin.

"Bapak Pray" said Mr. Nurasmin while standing. Layla and Sofia stood up.

Mr. Nurasmin held Layla's shoulder. He looked at Layla.

"Son, your master's brother is a pious man again shaleh. Women who deserve to be a companion are certainly women who pray as well. Riantimu's brother had a dark past. But we never know what God's plan is for each of His servants. You don't know how your brother Rianti has turned into an extraordinary woman. In fact he had memorized 30 juz of the Qur'an during his imprisonment. He also knew the Koran in prison. That's why don't you ever be so bad." Mr. Nurasmin rubbed Layla's head. Layla nodded silently.

"Son, if you only pray according to the state of your heart, then do not be a companion of your Master, just imagine that you do not deserve." Layla lowered her head in embarrassment. Mr. Nurasmin and Ms. Sofia sighed in unison.

"Sorry, Son. You are not breaking your hopes. I just want you to do what is your duty to God according to your ability, so that you are not ashamed when asking Him" said Mr. Nurasmin. Layla's head held her close to her face and kissed her forehead softly. Layla's tears are flowing. Bu Sofia who only saw from behind came closer and hugged Layla's body from behind.

"Come, you guys eat there first . After that, pray. I'm leaving" said Mr. Nursmin. He then stepped followed by Sofia and Layla to his car. Not long after, the car driven by Mr. Nurasmin darted on the street.

* * * * *

Pak Nurasmin arrived at the residence of Mr. Guru Izzul Islam along with the completion of congregational prayer at the pesantren mosque. Abdul Khalik who recognized Mr. Nurasmin from a distance rushed to him and immediately opened the gate. Mr. Nurasmin then parked his car next to the house.

Two minutes waiting on the rattan chair of the terrace of the house accompanied by Abdul khalik, Mr. Guru Izzul Islam escorted by two santri behind him was seen smiling outside the gate as soon as he saw Mr. Nurasmin sitting on the porch of the house. He hastened his steps.

"Lik, make us coffee" said Mr. Guru Izzul Islam after shaking hands with Mr. Nurasmin. The two santri with him, who were still standing under the porch, told him to leave.

"You will come again at 9" said Master Izzul Islam. Both nodded their heads. Before leaving, the two took the time to greet Mr. Guru Izzul Islam and Mr. Nurasmin.

Master Izzul Islam smiled as he turned to look at Mr. Nurasmin.

"How, Sir. Healthy?" said Mr. Guru Izzul Islam while touching the arm of Mr. Nurasmin's hand. Mr. Nurasmin smiled.

"Alhmdulillah, Son. Your mother also sends greetings to you," said Mr. Nurasmin.

"She's healthy too, sir?"

Mr. Nurasmin sighed. He smiles.

"Alhamdulillah, your sister is also well,"

Abdul khalik is coming. Master Izzul Islam helped him lower his drinking glass. One of the glasses was served in front of Mr. Nurasmin.

"Please drink, sir,"

For a moment both were silent. Cigarette smoke that was ignited by Mr. Nurasmin after sipping his coffee scattered in the wind. Several times he sighed. It was as if he had gathered his courage to begin his conversation. He was actually waiting for Master Teacher Izzul Islam to ask the purpose of his arrival, but during that time they chatted, Master Teacher Izzul Islam had not asked him. He really felt tense.

Mr. Nurasmin mendehem rolled up the phlegm gathered in his throat. Again he let out a long sigh while tilting his body to face Master Izzul Islam.

"What, sir," said Master Izzul Islam with a smile to see the face of Mr. Nurasmin who looked tense. Twice he saw the face of Mr. Nurasmin so hard after the case of his failed match with Layla. Mr. Nurasmin smiled.

"I'm sorry, son, the thing you want to talk to you about tonight is related to your sister Layla" Nurasmin said. Master Teacher Izzul Islam frowned. He stared at the table.

"What's wrong with Layla, sir?"

Mr. Nurasmin let out a long breath. He looked at the face of Master Izzul Islam for a moment.

"This has something to do with your matchmaking a few months ago, son Izzul,"

Master Teacher Izzul Islam again frowned with a slight smile on his lips. He didn't try asking anymore. He is still waiting for the next words that will come out of Mr. Nurasmin's mouth.

"You think it's something we've both forgotten. You think everything's fine until you finally know that Layla herself is not okay,"

"I mean Father?" asked Master Izzul Islam curious.

"Somehow your sister suddenly changed. Your mother found your sister's diary. On one of the sheets, your sister wrote her vows she wouldn't be married if she wasn't with Nak Izzul,"

"Astaghfirullahal Adzim., what's wrong with Layla so he has to swear like that,"

"Now he's sorry why he didn't accept the match." Mr. Nurasmin let out a long breath. Her tears seem to flow. Master Izzul Islam holds the hand of Mr. Nurasmin.

"Your sister's condition is very worrying. He doesn't want to go to school. Even if you don't promise to meet tonight, he won't eat,"

Master Izzul Islam stroked his chest slowly. For a moment the two fell silent. Master Izzul Islam sips his drink.

"That's why you came to see you even though it was very hard for you. You are ashamed because Layla previously ran away from home because she did not want to be betrothed. Honestly, you want to ask for the opinion of Nak Izzul. You're really confused,"

Master Izzul Islam nodded.

"Dik Layla is now in what grade, sir,"

"Class 3, son,"

Master Izzul Islam sighed softly. He was silent for a moment while rubbing his thin beard.

Master Izzul Islam turned towards Pak Nurasmin.

"For now I can't give you a way out, but here you go, sir. Emmh.., God willing tomorrow night let me meet at Layla. I want to talk to him,"

"Thank you, son." Mr. Nursmin let out a long sigh. He stared doubtfully at Master Izzul Islam.

" That's what you have in mind. But I was embarrassed to reveal it first. Maybe if Nak Izzul advises him, Layla will listen to him," continued Nurasmin. Master Izzul Islam smiled.

"Why should you be ashamed, sir. I am also his father's son. What is the burden of my father and mother is now my burden as well" said Mr. Izzul Islam.

"Lik, Abdul Khalik" called Master Izzul Islam.

"I am Master Teacher" Abdul Khalik said.

"Call Jamila and Suhaini. Prepare us food. You are here too. We ate with my father" said Mr. Izzul Islam. Abdul Khalik nodded and hurried away.

"Father just eat it at home, son. Your mother will wait too long" said Mr. Nurasmin.

"Sometimes I miss my late mother's presence at dinner. With the presence of my father tonight, I feel my mother is present near me. Just a little, sir," said Master Izzul Islam expectantly. Mr. Nurasmin smiled.
