Chapters 20. Everything's Improving
Sharmila meeting with Rian.
After deciding to change plans, Ruli searches for Sharmila's whereabouts with her son. At first, she tries to contact Sharmila's parents to find out where they are. However, Sharmila's parents did not provide clear information and only said that they were in a safe place.
Ruli felt increasingly worried and could not calm down because she did not know the state of Sharmila and her child. He decides to conduct his own search with the help of a private detective. The detective managed to find the address where Sharmila and her son lived, which was not far from her parents' house.
So, actually both of Sharmila's parents know only they are protecting her child for fear that Ruli will treat Sharmila badly.
When Ruli arrives at Sharmila's house, she is immediately warmly received by Sharmila's family. However, Sharmila felt doubtful and anxious because she did not know what would happen after Rian's mother came.
Rian's mother tries to apologize to Sharmila and her family for her previous poor treatment. He confesses that he has gone wrong and wants to mend ties with Sharmila and her family.
"I'm sorry, Sharmila. Mama has been wrong in treating you and your family. Mama feels very guilty for what you have done and wants to fix everything" Ruli said sincerely.
Sharmila was surprised by the attitude shown by her mother-in-law, but she also felt happy and relieved that finally her mother Rian could understand and change her attitude.
After apologizing, Rian's mother also requested that Sharmila and her son return to their home and requested that Rian be able to meet with his son. He promises to repair the relationship with Sharmila and her family and give their marriage blessing.
"Go home with your son, Sharmila. Mama promised to repair our relationship and give your marriage blessing. Mama wants Rian to be able to meet your son and fix everything" said Ruli pleading.
Hearing the requests and promises from her mother-in-law, Sharmila was moved and ready to return to Rian's house. They also hope that good relations between their families can be re-established after the events that occurred before.
Sharmila climbed the silent hospital corridor. The little hand of his son was held tightly, as if to give strength and comfort to him. His heart was still pounding and his mind was laughing about what was going to happen in this hospital. He felt sad and anxious about this meeting.
Previously, Sharmila and Rian had experienced many conflicts in their relationship. However, Rian is now seriously ill and he can only beg God to save Rian from his illness.
Arriving at Rian's inpatient room, Ruli sat by Rian's bedside. She looked at Sharmila gently, but it still made Sharmila feel uneasy. Sharmila felt her heartbeat speed up, getting louder. He was afraid that anything would happen to his son. However, when Sharmila approached Rian, she felt a little relieved because Rian smiled at her and looked calm.
"Sharmila," said Rian slowly.
"Thank you for coming."
"Mas Rian," Sharmila replied, feeling trembling.
"I'm sorry."
"I'm not mad at you, Sharmila," Rian replied gently. "I just want to meet our son."
Sharmila nodded slowly and opened her son's sling. Their cute child grabbed Rian's hand, staring at his face innocently. Rian looked back at his son, and his hand slowly touched his son's hair, then his hand turned to Sharmila's and took her into his hand.
"You know, Sharmila, I always think about you" she said. "I can't live without you. I want you to come back to me."
"I can't live without you, either, Rian," Sharmila replied lethargicly.
"But mama, he's..."
"He was too worried about me, he didn't mean to make you feel uncomfortable."
Sharmila nodded, though she felt that Ruli often made her feel unwanted.
"Sharmila," call Ruli in a low tone.
"Mama wants to apologize for your mother's treatment all along."
Sharmila looked at her mama-mart with a look of disbelief. He never thought he would hear her mother-in-law's apology.
"Mama has forced you too much to get out of Rian's life" Ruli said in a soft voice.
"Mama wrong. Mama's sorry."
Sharmila did not know what to respond to. He could only nod, speechless but in his heart felt harrumphed. She was relieved that her mother-in-law could finally say that.
When Sharmila and her son come to see Rian in the hospital, Rian feels a mixture of feelings between happy and sad. On one hand, she was very happy to see the faces of Sharmila and her son again after such a long time of not seeing each other. However, on the other hand, she also felt sad because she felt responsible for the hardships that Sharmila and her son had been through all this time.
Rian felt very moved when he saw his son, who was only six months old at the time. She felt sad that she couldn't spend time with her child all this time, and she also felt guilty that her child didn't have a father who could give her the attention and affection she should.
On the other hand, Rian also felt sad because he felt that he had hurt Sharmila's feelings. She feels guilty for refusing their marriage and causing Sharmila and her son to have to live with the hardships and pressures of their family. However, despite feeling sad and guilty, Rian still feels happy to be able to meet with Sharmila and her son again.
"I'm sorry, Mila. And thank you for still seeing me."
Sharmila who had difficulty looking at Rian face to face could finally see him clearly. He looked at the weak Rian on the hospital bed and felt pity for him. However, he also felt relieved that he could finally meet with Rian and mend their relationship.
Sharmila decides to forgive Rian and gives a second chance to mend their relationship. He expresses his feelings to Rian and informs him that he still loves Rian. However, she also expressed her heartache because Rian had rejected their marriage and made her life difficult all along.
"M-ila, Mila's sorry too, Rian's mas."
She apologizes to Sharmila for hurting her feelings, and expresses her gratitude for Sharmila coming to see her in the hospital. She then introduced Sharmila and her son to the doctors and nurses who treated him in the hospital.
"Thank you, doc, sus. I've been taking care of Rian's mas."
After that, they sat down and started talking. Rian asks about the news of Sharmila and her son, and she thanks him for everything Sharmila has done for her all this time. He also expressed his desire to improve his relationship with Sharmila and improve the situation for the benefit of their child.
"We'll fix everything and get back together, take care of Bagas together."
