Secrets of Lakefront House

Secrets of Lakefront House
CHAPTER 11. CORPSE DISCOVERY

Jilena rushes into the sleek sports car and her gaze glides slowly over it, admiring the beauty of the papa's car for a long time. Dizziness with everything going on, he opened the car door and let the pent-up hot air flow out before sliding away.

He put the key into the ignition and turned it on. After turning on the full AC, she stroked the soft and luxurious ivory leather chair as she listened to the snoring of the well-tuned machine. He shifted backwards and carefully rewinded the car.

Driving the car out of the parking lot and into the street, Jilena enjoyed every second she spent behind the wheel. As he headed home, he had the wild idea of riding the two-seat Roadster to spin a few miles outside the city, heading towards Green Lake. He wanted to try the capabilities of this car and see what this car could do.

Before he could play around with his car, his phone started ringing incessantly from inside the bag. He stopped the sports car and grabbed the phone, he stared at the number on the mobile screen— did not recognize the number. "Hello."answered

"Jilena, this is Keenan Hadinata."

“Halo, Mr. Hadinata. What can I do for you?"

"First, call me Keenan, because we'll work together."

“OK, Keenan. What can I do for you?"

*visual KEENAN HADINATA

“I know you don't plan to start working until next Monday, but the big news has just broken and I need someone with experience to dig into this story. I was thinking if maybe you could start working early and do it.”

A big news? In the peaceful town of Lembayung? “Yes, sure, I don't mind. There's not much I can do until the funeral. Aunt Dewi has handled most of the details. How's story?"

"A corpse was found in Green Lake."

"A corpse?"tanyanya did not believe. During this time the town of Lembayung was always safe, there was never a single case of murder.

“Yeah, but actually. My informant in the police department told me this news and I'd like to send you there to investigate."

"Did your informant tell you how the remains were found?"ask jilena.

“It looks like it is being renovated to create a new cabin, only at the foundation stage. The owner and their dog were walking around the place, was checking work, and the dog started digging. It seems, only that the police found so far, if the contractor broke the ground for the foundation, he had to dig up some of the remains.”clear keenan.

"I'll go there now" said Jilena eagerly, and now I work for her. Now he had a reason to go to that lake. "Where's the address?"ask Jilena.

He recorded the information in a small notebook that he kept in his wallet. He is always ready — You can take the job from the reporter, but you can't take the reporter from the job. “I will report back to you this afternoon about my discovery there.”kata Jilena again.

"Great. Thank you for being willing to do this. I'll wait for news from you.”Keenan hung up the phone. Eager for the thrill of travel and the latest news assignments, Jilena is already cruising over twenty miles per hour above the speed limit before she reaches the city limits. Still about half a mile from crossing the line, he heard sirens roaring behind him. He glanced at the rearview mirror and saw the terrifying blue-red flashing lights.

He took his foot off the gas pedal, shifted down, and stopped by the side of the road. Groping around in the bag, he pulled out his wallet, ready to hand over his SIM. He had not gotten a ticket the day before, but hesitated if this time it would be able to solve this problem.

Knock on the car window and he presses a button to lower the car window.

"Do you know how fast you're driving Mom?" The officer opened the ticket book.

“Jonathan?” Jilena looked at him, took off her sunglasses and shaded her eyes with her hands. His heart is pounding, ahhhh why is it that every time I meet Jonathan I feel this messed up?

*Jonathan Benedict

“Jilena?” Jonathan sounded as surprised as he felt. Bending his body next to the lowly sports car, he took off his sunglasses and stuffed them into his pocket. “It looks like we should stop meeting like this.” Jonathan said with a smile.

"Isn't it better if we meet in a more pleasant place or situation?" jonathan said again. In her heart, she was happy to see Jilena again. 'But why does everyone meet the girl because of the ticket?

Jonathan pulled himself up again, took a step back, and admired the car the girl was driving in. “New car huh?”tanyakanya.

“Car papa.”kata Jilena.

“It looks like I've seen this car around town, it's just that time it wasn't driving this fast on the road. Where do you want to go in a hurry? ”

“Oh, the bones that some dogs dug up? I heard about that. So, you're a reporter?"jonathan asked, his eyes staring at Jilena's beautiful face. Unknowingly, his gaze fell towards the girl's great aunt. 'From a long time ago I admired you his inner Jil.

"Yes, right." The two of them had not had the chance to talk more before. Even at that moment, he was a little surprised that he really did not know anything about her. She thought that Ramira or Sarah would keep telling her something about Jonathan, but it never seems to happen. “And yes, that's the story. So, as you can see Jo, I really have to go.”ujar Jilena while smiling sweetly.

She hopes the man will let her go without a — ticket again.

“I think you're taking time off from work this week because of the funeral ceremony."

Jilena did not tell him that she had been laid off from her previous job and had— accepted a position with the local newspaper. Now doesn't seem like the right time to say anything. He shrugged his shoulders. "The news never stops."

"You have to drive more casually Jil, there is the latest news or not" Jonathan said.

“This car is fast I think. After all I feel very free and more fun when driving a car fast.” replied Jilena smiled.

“Very dangerous too. I don't want you to be the victim of an accident."Jonathan was worried about the girl. His admiration has never gone away.

"Isn't that better?" jilena said while grinning.

What exactly does Jilena mean by that? Was he rethinking something, or someone, was there something that had already happened in his own life? thought Jonathan.

"I'll let you go without another ticket, but this has to be the last time."

"alright. If it pleases your heart."Take a glance at Jonathan. He saw a smile on the corner of the man's lips, 'with a little seduction he set me free again' 😆😆

"I appreciate that, Officer." Jilena gave him a pretend respect. “It won't happen again." He grins.

“Good afternoon, Bu.” Jonathan lifted his hat and walked back to his car, throwing a final comment. “And do not forget your promise yes dinner with me.”ujar Jonathan collect Jilena promise.

Jilena watched him from the rearview mirror as the man climbed into his car. Dinner will be so much fun, and trying to approach it sounds like a good idea, figuring out how his life is — hopefully better than my life— and why hasn't there been someone tying up the guy yet? I have no problem trying to get close to a great guy like him. Jonathan is also kind, coming from a rich family.

...***...

Jilena went back on her way out of town. He drove the car at the normal speed limit until he was a few miles towards the city limits towards the foot of the hill. As the road starts to climb, he lowers the speed of the car, applying more pressure on the gas pedal, .

Powerful engines provide no resistance to hill roads and cars stick to the corners like race cars. Before he realized, the sparkling water in the Green Lake had begun to be seen.

He slowed down and turned right on the road leading to the lake, golden grasslands flanking each side. He remembered this place since he was a teenager, coming here with friends. The road finally split. He stopped, observing his choice. He could drive straight to the beach and the small harbor, or he could take the road to the left, heading to the houses and lodges that had been built around the lake. Jilena hesitated, feeling short of breath. He once took the left road before—with Noah.

Noah once took her to his family's lake house, spent time together there and it was a day that changed Jilena's life forever.

...****...

Inhaling the fresh air, Jilena chose the curved path to the left. He could see roofs and decks jutting out of several lakeside homes that had been built along the lake. He was not sure which roof of the lake house belonged to the Arsyanendra family. It felt like centuries ago when he was there with Noah.

But he's here now because of a story, not to think about the past. Jilena took a notepad to find the house number. Number seven-fifty-five (755). He continued the journey. After passing through several houses, he saw the numbers seven-five-five painted twice.

Someone had used red spray paint to write the numbers on the pieces of wood, and then dropped them to the ground. Although, it seems rather unnecessary to have an address. Yellow TKP tape, construction vehicles, and police cars are pretty obvious clues to the crime scene.

*visual location of TKP

An open space, outside was another vehicle, and he was driving his papa's car into the area not far from the house. He stuffed his notepad and camera into a leather bag, then stuck the bag over his shoulder. He got out of his flashy car, walked into the already closed area with a police line, hoping to talk to whoever was responsible. Joy flowed through his veins. It feels good to be back at work. He misses this.

Then he took his digital camera from the bag, he stood observing the property while wondering. The area is mostly an empty plot of land with several trees that have been cleared to serve as the foundation. Glancing around, he froze when he recognized the lake house on the right—he had been there before. It belongs to Noah. His chest was tight, his heart was hurting. The air around him suddenly felt heavy.

He could not take his eyes off the Arsyanendra family home. Grain of sweat soaked his forehead and body, he forced his hands to wipe away the sweat. He forced himself to turn away, but he could not.

Why does everything feel heavy? Like a stone statue, Jilena stood glued. His eyes stared intently at the house of the Arsyanendra family by the lake. It was like running from there but his body felt heavy to step on. Wh why? What the hell's going on?
