"Papa doesn't know what else to do, Jilena. You have to trust me. Mr. Arsyanendra represents ninety-five percent of the clients in my firm and I am sure that if I refuse, then I will lose my job or worse, blame me and send me to jail. And there won't be a single cop who will believe me? In this city the Arsyanendra family has power. It will be two against one. If the police believe in Arsyanendra and Arlina's story, then my life will be over. Papa knows it sounds like papa is a selfish person, but it's not like that. By knowing the secret of what the Arsyanendra family has done, I believe I have no choice but to help them—and shut up. If I don't do that, I can be sure my family will be threatened with life.”
It was seen that his father was dropping his head into his hands now, his shoulders were going up and down like he was crying. Then his body fell silent and he looked up, his eyes wet with tears and full of supplications. "It was an accident. Mariana is dead. Nothing can change that. What else can I do?”
"I don't know" whispered Jilena. “But there must be something, papa." Shaking his head, he sat there, not surprised, rather— was astonished at the reality of it all, when his father explained how he reluctantly agreed to keep his mouth shut, after Arsyanendra and Arlina left. He claimed to bury Mariana's body by digging not so deep in the forest about fifty meters from the Arsyanendra Lake House. At least the father admitted that, telling them where to find his body. He knew that they had found him, unless Jilena's father had anticipated that they would find something there when he saw them laying the first stone on the construction site where Mariana was buried.
“Yes,” said Jilena, “Papa's last days must have been terrible, constantly worried that the body buried there would be found." No wonder my father had a sudden heart attack. Or maybe that was what caused his death.
His hatred for Arsyanendra came to the surface. Indirectly the man had caused the death of his mother and father. A part of him wanted to get up at that moment and throw all this incriminating evidence onto the haughty man's face, and tell her that there's no reason whatsoever to apologize for such a vile human being, but no. He needed to hear the rest, and he needed to be smart in dealing with this matter. His father's confession continues on screen.
“Papa can admit that papa is a coward, Jilena, but I'm not stupid. I made sure I had bail in case Arsyanendra tried to bestow the murder on me. So I took a comb from the bathroom, there's some hair still in it, and I planted that comb with Mariana's body. I need to involve Arsyanendra as well because it's all his fault not mine. If I fall, then I'll bring it down with me.”
A sense of relief enveloped Jilena's heart upon confirmation that Noah had nothing to do with the incident. Her father couldn't possibly have known that it might be Noah's hair. With tears now streaming down her cheeks, her father rubbed her face with his hands and continued. “I don't know what you think of papa now, but papa isn't a bad guy. Papa only makes bad decisions for our good, and believes that he has been wracked with guilt for years. The guilt was slowly tormenting me, day after day. Papa regrets that I wasn't man enough to fight Arsyanendra. Papa just hopes that you can use this information to fix the mistakes you once made, and—”
The man is seen leaning closer to the camera, his facial expression is difficult to understand, he has never seen the expression of the father's face like that before. “And I love you Jilena. I always loved you. I hope you can forgive me one day." Jilena was not surprised to learn her father was involved after finding a pair of suspicious cufflinks, but she did not expect her father's confession on DVD. The only bright spot is that she is not the one responsible for the death of Mariana, her best friend's mother.
The way the father told the story, about Mariana's death might be considered an accident, or the most unintentional murder, but covering it up was a crime. His father would be guilty of hiding the truth. His name being clean after he died was a cowardly way, but at least now he had one piece of evidence to bring to the authorities. Jilena saw the clock. The Deputy District Attorney and Detective Wira must have been at the police station by this time, maybe they were interrogating Mr. Arsyanendra.
Jilena wiped her flowing tears. This is not the time to cry and wail. He had to hurry up to give this evidence to the police station. He wiped his cheek, then bolted from his chair and pressed the eject button on the DVR. He slipped the disc back into the box and put it in his bag. Perhaps a DVD can help gain recognition from the great and mighty Mr. Arsyanendra, or the Angkuh Queen the Arlina.
"Already." replied Jilena briefly.
He stood up straight. "Do you want to talk about it?"
"not now. I got some assholes to catch. ” Jilena breezed past it and stepped into the elevator. “But you and I will talk about this later.”
As the elevator door closed tightly, a thought came to his mind and—Jilena stuck her hand between the doors to stop the door from closing. When the elevator door opened again, he stuck his head out. "Trs. Hardi?”
"Yes," he answered, still standing near his assistant.
"Do you know who adopted my baby?" ask Jilena.
The man's eyes widened slightly as he adjusted his posture, looking he was a little uncomfortable with the question. “It was a sealed adoption, Jilena. No one can know."
“I will definitely be back again. We also need to talk about it.” Jilena let the elevator door close.
I'm back and I'm gonna find out who adopted my son. If possible, I want my son back, I will fight to get my son back, I will look for him wherever my son is and I will make sure nothing will stand in my way again.
