Secrets of Lakefront House

Secrets of Lakefront House
CHAPTER 28. JONATHAN IS JEALOUS

Thankfully, Jonathan was there to save him from Noah's charm, but what happened to him that would make him miss his chances with Jonathan? He had to call her and explain to save their relationship.

Jilena thanked Noah for taking her to dinner and exchanging stories. If Noah thinks about trying to kiss her again, Jilena won't let him and won't give him a chance.

“Goodnight, Noah.” Jilena stepped inside her house and hurriedly closed the door and locked it. He had to call Jonathan now, explain what he had seen, and wanted to see if Jonathan would still stop by.

Jilena doesn't owe Jonathan an explanation. They like each other or you could say Jonathan loves Jilena, but the girl does not want any misunderstanding between them.

Maybe it could have caused something bad to happen. As for Noah, even now that looks changed, something inside him turned into, he looked more mature and Jilena felt comfortable when near him. But to have a future with that man? He couldn't imagine it. Especially after what happened between them in the past.

He reached into his phone from his bag and dialed Jonathan's number.

"Hello."

Jilena was surprised to hear that resolutely sounding baritone voice, it was not the voice of the silly boy she knew when they were schoolmates.

"Jonathan, it's Jilena."

There was no sound of a reply from the man and the atmosphere felt extremely cold between them.

“Jonathan?”

“Yes, I'm here. What can I do for you?"

"You promised you'd stop by and help me open a locked drawer tonight."

“I did stop by, but you were busy. I don't want to bother you." she said in a flat and cold tone.

“Noah wants to talk to me about something, so I go with him for dinner. That'sallthatis. You are not interfering.” Jilena tried to explain.

"But to me, it doesn't look like it" Jonathan said in a flat voice. He didn't like what he saw.

Well, Jilena grew more convinced after hearing the cold words spoken by Jonathan. Obviously Jonathan had seen Noah kiss him. And she's jealous? Jonathan was jealous?

“Really, Jo, that's it. He suddenly kissed my lips, I was shocked too. I don't want him to kiss me, you have to believe. It's not what you think! He and I have nothing to do with it. If you still want to stop by, I will wait for you.” said Jilena hoping to convince Jonathan. The attitude of the man who spoke a bit formal and cold made Jilena more convinced that Jonathan was jealous.

"I don't think it's possible to stop by. I need to get to my parents' house. I have to pick up Vino and bring him home.”

Not likely. Just three or five minutes distance between after Jonathan left and Jilena called him. How could she be close to her parents' house? She jealous. “I'm really expecting you tonight. How, you want to?" asked Jilena again in a soft voice trying to melt Jonathan's heart.

Again, silence between them. Jonathan wants to reject Jilena's request in protest at what he saw earlier. The jealousy! Yeah, she's jealous to see Noah kiss the girl he loves. Jonathan knew about the two in the past and he didn't want to lose Jilena. What she saw earlier made her worry that Noah and Jilena would get back together. ‘What does Jilena tell the truth? Her thought.

He was still thinking yet he also desperately wanted to meet the girl. Jonathan wanted to be close to him and to be with him at all times. Jonathan finally spoke. "alright. I'm gonna call my mom and have her look after Vino all night. Bye then. ”

...*...

In less than five minutes, Jonathan was already standing at his doorstep, pressing the bell. Jilena opened the door and greeted him with a friendly smile. He's still wearing his uniform. Jilena's heart pounded when she saw it. Jonathan looks even more handsome in his uniform.

"Yes, Officer." Jilena grinned as the man looked at her and stepped aside to let her in. "In this direction," said Jilena with a movement of her hand towards the living room. They continued walking and Jonathan followed him into the study. "What's the problem?" Jonathan asked.

He pointed to the table. “This may sound silly, Officer, but I don't understand how to open the drawer, the key is gone.”

"Well, little lady, let's see what I can do." Jonathan dragged the chair out and squatted behind the desk to check the drawers. He took out a small leather bag from his back pocket and unzipped his zipper, taking out some sharp objects. He tried to open the drawer, but it didn't work. He kept trying long enough, still not succeeding.

“I wish only one needed.” Jilena pursed her lips. "Just a little love from a handsome cop.”

Jonathan laughs out loud. “I've never heard if a locked drawer can be opened with love.”

"Well, that's how. Love can beat everything" Jilena said.

“For your efforts, how about a piece of pie" said Jilena Smabil smiling. Jonathan looked calm and spoke as usual.

Jonathan raised his eyebrows. "Did you make it?"

Jilena laughed as she stood in the doorway. “You really don't know me, do you?"

He turned and walked towards the kitchen.

“Means?” jonathan asked, following behind him.

“Ramira took her to Aunt Dewi's house for dinner yesterday. The pie is from The Upper Spot. My aunt insisted that I bring the pie home for a snack at home.” Jilena took out the pie from the fridge and placed it on the table.

"Do you have vanilla ice cream?" Jonathan asked.

Jilena pulls the tool drawer to look for knives and scoops of ice cream.

"Let's see. Mama used to keep ice cream in the fridge for my papa. Maybe papa still likes to also buy ice cream.”

Jonathan stood behind him as he opened the freezer from the fridge. The cold air was comfortable on his face, but his body was warm because Jonathan was standing right behind him and he felt their bodies touching each other. He took the ice cream container from the freezer and turned to face Jonathan who was bowing his face looking at Jilena.

"Here we go."

Jonathan stood without distance from him. There was a warm sigh that shook them. They look at each other unmoved. Feeling the warmth in the eyes of both of them who enjoy the comfort they feel. Jonathan felt like he wanted to kiss her, he saw in Jilena's eyes there was passion, and he really wanted to kiss the girl's lips. Their eyes locked for a moment. Instead of a kiss, Jonathan instead went to the table and cut the pie. Did she suddenly remember seeing Noah kissing her?

"It looks good" he murmured.

He placed the ice cream container next to the pie, the loud pounding inside the chest started to subside, fortunately, he was afraid that his heart thump would sound.

"You want to help me cut the pie?"

When Jonathan finished loading the pie pieces and putting them onto the plate, and adding a scoop of ice cream to the top of the pie, they brought their plates to the dinner table. Jilena took a seat. “I haven't had time to ask how the results of the board review."

“It looks like everything went well. I will get the result in a few days, I really hope.” Jonathan finished his meal.
