Suddenly Papa
Emily's Doubt

Kevin takes Alice to his apartment. They do a lot of things. Play games, make fruit-flavored milk, to swim in Kevin's private pool in the apartment.

"I'm happy to spend the weekend with Papa." Alice exclaimed cheerfully while drinking her milk after swimming.

"I am too. I'm also happy to spend my day with you." Kevin said while drinking his milk.

They laugh together.

"Did Papa like my mama?" Ask Alice then.

Kevin was silent, then smiled.

"If I were with your mother, would you accept me?"

"Not to be asked any more, I will accept you!" Alice showed off her teeth.

"If your mother had chosen another man how? Or if your biological father comes, and approaches your mother back?" Kevin realized the question was too much for a six-year-old. However, he wanted to try to mentally prepare her and Alice, should Marry choose someone else.

"I just want you. Papa Kevin! No need for another papa!" Alice shouted as she folded her hands in front of her chest.

Kevin smiled at the sight of his daughter.

"Hi, if you want me to be with your mama, can you help me to get closer to her?" Kevin asked while blinking his eyes.

Alice frowned, then smiled widely.

"So Papa likes mama?"

"Yes. L like it. And I need your help my daughter so much."

"Just calm. I'll help Papa 1000 percent!" Alice with excitement.

The two laughed while enjoying their milk shake.

Marry serves buyers at his store.

Emily walks into the store, and Marry welcomes Emily.

"Hi, Em. Want to order what?" Greet Mary kindly.

"I want to order a capuccino." His mouth with a smile, but restrained, as if something was stuck.

Marry asks Ben to make Emily's order, and before long, Marry has given Emily coffee in a tumbler.

"Please."

Emily received the tumbler and was still standing in its place.

"Ep... Are you okay?" Marry began to look worried.

Emily shook her head.

"Can we talk for a second?" Emily Pinta.

Marry nodded, and guided Emily to a chair outside the tavern.

Emily took a sip of her coffee and took a deep breath.

"Nana wants William to get married soon." Emily said in one breath.

"Then you?" Ask Marry.

"I'm scared. The shadow of commitment made me feel heartburn and fear." Emily looked at Marry, who was still listening.

"What are you afraid of?"

"I'm afraid of facing reality. I was afraid that Will would turn his back on me after we got married. I'm afraid Will has someone other than me. I'm afraid I'm hurt, Marry." Emily looked at Marry with sadness.

Marry sighed, and moved to sit next to Emily.

"I've known Will, since childhood, since his parents died, and Nana brought him home. We have been neighbors ever since. Will used to spend a lot of time at my house helping to look after Sophie or just helping my mom in the kitchen. After finishing cooking, Will brought the food home to Nana. Or he often helps my papa while fixing something either at home or a pin in Nana's house." Mary began to tell me about William.

"We just moved to this big city when I was nine. Before, my family and I were from the countryside. Mom and Dad got a good job in town. We lived next door to Nana's house. Nana was the one who helped when we were busy taking care of the house. Sophie and I were very close to Will and Nana. They are like their own family. I always thought Nana was my own grandmother. And Will is like my own brother. Will loved from first sight. She never thought you were the daughter of the Mars family, the owner of the International Hospital. He loves you, because of you, Em." Marry tried to convince Emily.

Emily smiles. "really?" Ask Emily curiously.

"William liked you from the first moment he met you at college. He always tries to get close to you, but you don't seem to respond that much. She always called yourself the Cold Queen back then." Marry giggled amusedly, while Emily stared glaringly.

"Cold Queen? Ice, you mean?!"

"Yes. That's what you call it when he tells you about the girl he really liked in college. She just opened up her secret, when she helped me give birth. I was in pain because of the contractions. He comforted me by telling me a lot about the Cold Queen, and he said that girl was my idol."

"Your idol?"

"You're my idol Em. I have a book of your scientific research work. Then some scientific work during school, always refers to the writing of your paper or book. I aspire to be one of those parts of your lab. And Will knows it all. It all came out when he helped me." Marry said.

Emily clasped Marry's hand.

"Mars' descendants aren't just me and Kevin." Emily said.

Suddenly Marry surprised, and stared while frowning at Emily.

"My mom and dad were a little troubled and they broke. Then when they are down. Papa met another woman. And they had the story of one hot night that the other woman was pregnant." Emily told me the other side of her family.

"Then Mr Morgan and Mrs Vicky got married and had you guys?"

"Yes, after that one-night story, papa realized he was wrong. And there was only one woman in his heart, my mother. She eventually went back to her mother and married her. Even my father never found out that the other woman was pregnant. One day, Aunt Tracy comes to Papa and tells her that she is pregnant and dying in the hospital. The pregnant mother was shocked and disappointed in my father." Emily's voice sounded hoarse, holding back a cry.

"The woman died while giving birth to a child. And the boy was taken and raised by Tracy's aunt. That girl was Aunt Tracy's best friend. That's why, she and Mama and Papa aren't very well connected. My father never admitted it was his son. Don't even want to do a DNA test. Mama, who was very disappointed with Papa, was separated for a while until I was born. Then they came to the couples psychologist, and did a counseling session. Reestablishing relationships. Then my mom got pregnant with Kevin. After Kevin was born, mom and dad started raising a running business." Emily paused for a moment.

"During that time, Kevin was entrusted to Grandpa and Grandma for several years. And I'm the one who went to school, and I don't want to go with mom and dad. And when I was ten or eleven, I heard a fight between Aunt Tracy and Papa. Papa still does not want to recognize the child as his son. He refused to take a DNA test. Mama who has already hurt and disappointed with papa back. Eventually spent time in the hospital and built that huge lab. Spending most of his time working."

"How now? The relationship between Mr and Mrs Mars?"

"Mom and Dad started counseling again. They started to open up to each other. Papa and Mama started to notice me and Kevin growing up. Realizing that his child's act is the result of their disharmony all along."

Marry nodded while patting Emily on the shoulder.

"What makes you doubt Will?"

Emily shook her head.

"I know not only Will, but myself."

Marry stunned.

"You love Will?" Ask Marry.

"Yes. Love her so much." Emily's Law.

"Then Will loves you too. What are you afraid of? Will and Mr. Morgan are different people. Have a different character. Even Mr. Morgan who once made a mistake, tried to fix it and come back to Mrs Vicky."

"Is that easy?"

"Try to get out of your house. And lived in Nana's residence. Stay with us and enjoy our time together. Try to do something else, outside of your habits." Marry squinted his eyes.
