Episode 10: Little Break (2)

"Pet shop!?" Rainer looked surprised before turning anxious. "Why do we have to go there?"

"I'm going on vacation at Ava's house so I put my cat there" Gaea explained.

"Oh," Rainer understood, he himself had no problem with cats, on the other hand there was someone who might panic. "Poor Eryk." he muttered softly.

"You said something?" ask Gaea.

Rainer shook his head, his black eyes fixed on the asphalt road.

Gaea swore when Rainer said something whether it was a curse, a complaint or a pleasure? He shrugged his shoulders indifferently and looked back out the window to make sure the pet shop building was not missed.

"Ah, there it is, Rainer." Gaea pointed to a small building flanked by skyscrapers, above the doorway there was a signpost that read: Lunatic Pet Shop.

Rainer looked for a parking space because the store did not provide parking space, he was forced to park on the shoulder of the road that had been provided, then took a parking ticket at the machine. "I hope we don't have long because it's only allowed to park for an hour" he explained.

Gaea nodded in understanding. "I just want to take it, it won't take long."

"H... ?" Rainer scoops up his neck, picks up his phone in his pocket, checks if there's anything new.

Gaea thought for a moment, leaving Rainer alone here is not good. "What if you come?"

"Me?" Rainer was surprised not to play.

Gaea nodded. "I think seeing a funny animal is better than playing a cell phone alone" he persuaded, smiling as sweetly as possible.

"I don't like animals very much" Rainer refused but his voice sounded indecisive as if something was hidden.

Gaea rolled her eyeballs tired of Rainer's attitude of putting too high a wall between them; she then hooked their hands, "You'll love this. I'm sure." he said, pulling Rainer in to follow him.

Rainer did not dwell, Gaea's hands were so tightly holding his arms, making sure he did not protest, he only resigned when they entered the pet shop building.

"Welcome to Lunatic" said a black-haired young lady politely welcoming, her eyes instantly widened seeing Gaea enter with Rainer. "Why are you in New York, Gaea?"

"I canceled my departure and chose to celebrate Christmas here, Nadine.

"Aah!" Nadine remembered something. "You've just been proposed, of course" he said spoiled. "I wouldn't want to go abroad if I proposed that handsome."

Gaea coughed; where did Nadine know about the proposal? Did anyone record it? Do they not know privacy? And of course his friends immediately knew if the woman in the video was him.

Why didn't Eryk tell her?

"Give me my cat, Nadine." pinta Gaea quietly.

Nadine nodded. "Wait a minute" he said.

Gaea nodded.

Gaea knew this news would sooner or later spread to her friends just seeing their innocent faces so happy with this fake proposal made her feel guilty.

"Gaea, I think it would be better if you keep your cat here." Rainer opened his voice, his tone anxious.

"Why should I?" ask Gaea wonder. "I'm alone here, bringing my cat is okay, right? It's not a big deal."

Rainer scratched the back of his neck nervously.

Gaea could see a look of anxiety on Rainer's face. "Why is that?" tanyakanya.

Rainer preferred silence.

Gaea rolled her eyeballs; typical Rainer, always giving an ambiguous message. "I'll bring the Stars no matter what you like or not."

"Star?" Rainer was astonished by the name, sounding unfamiliar to his ears, but he liked the name because it was unique; he wondered how many languages Gaea mastered.

Gaea nodded small. "My cat's name is Bintang, you know Nadine, she's from Bali, she taught me Indonesian" she explained. "Star means star you know?"

"Oh, Bali yes..." Rainer found out, Eryk had been there for business, but he thought Bali was a country. "But Indonesia? I just found out Bali includes Indonesia."

"Hey! Make no mistake, Bali includes Indonesia" said Gaea slightly raise his tone. "Although I also just found out from Nadine as well." he continued embarrassed.

"Who is ashamed now?" rainer said a little mockingly.

"Oh, shut up" said Gaea sharply but her cheeks still blushed in embarrassment.

"It's the Stars" Nadine's voice ended the conversation.

Gaea looked at the little white-haired cat with an orange-colored pattern that was full of love, even though he had just left the Star a few hours ago but he was longing. In spirit he raised the Star, carried it, faced Rainer again, revealing his cat to the young man. "He's so cute, isn't he?" tanyakanya.

Gaea knew the compliment was not for her but she still felt touched, and again why did Rainer's eyes when saying it was on her instead of her cat? He thought something else. "Do you want to carry it?" he offered.

"I don't think it's necessary" Rainer rejected it subtly; if he touched the Star, he sure would get angry with Eryk too.

"Don't be ashamed of that, Rainer." Gaea did not give up. He lifted the star to the level of his face. "The star will stay with you too, so I want you to be friends with him."

"He's just a cat." complained Rainer, and he's more of the type who likes ******.

"Don't talk like that!" gaea. "You hurt the Star's feelings, Rainer."

Rainer rolled his eyeballs. Now that this young lady in front of him was too dramatizing, he naturally knew that if animals had feelings only this time that a cat, Eryk's eternal enemy, would touch. "Hm" his eyes alternately looked at the face of the Star as well as the enthusiastic face of Gaea, and he finally extended his right hand.

Gaea had been enthusiastic about Rainer's response to turn surprised when the young man's hand was stretched out not to touch the Star but to his chin, giving a soft caress there, the successful one re-emerged the red hue on both cheeks.

'What just happened?' ask Gaea in the heart.

His body did not move even until Rainer ended the touch on his chin and switched to taking the Star from both hands.

Rainer's touch was short but too soft for a joke, and it gave him another mysterious clue.

Rainer stroked the cat's head gently. "He's the kind of tame, huh?" tanyakanya.

Gaea awoke from the daydream, "Oh, uh, yes." she cursed in her heart at the nervous answer. He then cleared his throat to normalize his heartbeat. "True, a cat-type star who easily believes in someone. If you treat him right, of course."

"You're not talking about yourself, are you?" rainer Goda.

"Hey!" sahut Gaea does not accept.

Rainer chuckled, which made Gaea laugh too.

"I'm sorry if I interrupted your sweet talk" said Nadine. "But who is he, Gaea?"

"Oh," Gaea forgot that Nadine was here. "Rainer, he's my friend" he explained. "And Eryk's close friend" he added to make sense.

Nadine breathed a sigh of relief. "I think he's your affair because you guys look friendly" he said. "I'll support you and Eryk."

"Huh!?" Gaea did not expect Nadine to judge their conversation like that, she felt her chatter with Rainer was ordinary, or maybe it looked friendly because the young man had touched her chin, he then glanced silently at Rainer who was beside him, the young man's face looked uncomfortable.

"I think we've had enough here..." Rainer voiced out finally, returning the Star to Gaea. "We're home, Gaea."

Gaea did not answer.

Yes, you can be sure Rainer feels uncomfortable.

"While meeting you, Nadine" said Rainer politely, extending his hand.

Nadine replied with pleasure. "Me too,"

Rainer retracted his hand, taking a new step back turned around and started walking out.

"Thank you for keeping the Star Nadine" Gaea said.

"Of course for my loyal customers" Nadine said. "And congratulations on your engagement, too, yes" he said.

Gaea grinned, and following Rainer, she ran small until she finally got behind the young man. "You don't have to think about Nadine, she's just kidding Rainer."

"No," Rainer said without looking. "I just realized I kept breaking what I made when I was with you."

"Huh?" Gaea did not understand at all; breaking what? Breaking up chatting with him? That doesn't make sense, he's not a criminal.

"Forget over me saying that" said Rainer, although his words were now sharp, he was still gentle by opening the car door for Gaea.

"Hm," Gaea muttered gloomily, he got into the car, followed by Rainer. "Where are we going now... ?" the question breaks the silence.

"You're kidding me, huh? Of course we're back to your main destination, your apartment," Rainer said coldly.

Gaea looked at the gloomy Star that was on her lap.

Yeah, Rainer's back to being cold again.

Gaea had already asked about this, but he wanted to make sure once again. "could that? I'm sure there will be a lot of police" he said. "And talking to the police..Why aren't we being questioned?"

He felt strange until now not getting a call from the police, he and Eryk were victims.
