Chapter 30: Little Break (3)

"But why a shopping mall?" Gaea asked, of course, he was happy that Eryk would understand himself without having to fight, but between good places, Eryk chose a shopping center and was not it closed on Christmas?

"Isn't it clear? Your gays are embarrassing" said Eryk casually.

"Hey!" Gaea didn't take it for granted. "Not everyone can buy nice clothes like you, Eryk."

"Therefore we go shopping" said Eryk. "You're my fiancee, wearing simple clothes so hurt my pride, you know?"

"What?"

The clothes he wore were simple, only long jeans and a thick pink jacket and scarf and hat so as not to get cold, blame Eryk who immediately invited him without changing clothes.

"I have a sense of fashion, so can we go somewhere else? Park the city for example." said Gaea seduce.

"I don't know where it's fun to go to the city park. But we're going there Ferdinand" said Eryk.

Gaea clapped her hands happily hearing that.

"All right" said Ferdinand.

A tired Eryk walked under a garden tree, laid down his body, and put on glasses. "If you knew this was the case, I should have brought sunblock."

Ferdinand sat down beside Eryk saying. "Where is anyone sunning this hour, Eryk. It's winter."

"Fu—" Eryk just remembered and immediately moved to a safer place right under the tree, leaning there. "Why should I follow his will?" he glanced at Gaea who was walking to the riverbank.

Ferdinand followed Eryk's eyes. "Hm, because you're weak with women?" guess it. "You're not mad at them?"

Eryk looked only at Gaea and Rainer who were walking hand in hand. "Let it be, I don't have time to think about such unimportant things."

"Now you're back to the Eryk I know" Ferdinand said.

"I've always been like this" said Eryk, and rubbed his hands together. "It's so cold, buy some warm coffee, Ferdinand?"

"It's really the old Eryk again." Ferdinand repeated, and rose to his feet to buy a canned drink at the machine across the street.

Eryk glanced at Gaea and Rainer who were now sitting in a long chair looking at the hudson river, his emotions slowly rising again before he rose to his feet to chase Ferdinand.

Gaea looked at the river that looked surging as several ships passed by.

This is what he meant by calming the mind of his problem, he did not run away from Lola just need a little time to accept.

"It's a shame you can't celebrate Christmas with Ava's family, right?" ask Rainer.

Gaea nodded. "I wonder if Ava's okay there? Is he mad at me? I haven't been able to contact him until now, it looks like he's been busy." she explained. "And most importantly, is he really my friend..."

Rainer glanced at Gaea who was bowed in. "Ava is the only person who doesn't deceive you Gaea, all her traits, her behavior to you is purely from Ava herself."

Gaea glanced at Rainer. "Where do you know?"

Rainer reviewed the small smile. "Of course I checked Ava's data, you're this."

"That's it," said Gaea. "I'm glad Ava wasn't related to anything, luckily she's in Shanghai right now, she's definitely in danger if she's with me."

"Hm. he's in a safe place from all of us" Rainer agreed.

"But, my closest friend is Lola, she's always been my encouragement when we're in trouble, so when I find out she's not the Lola I've known all along, I'm..." Gaea did not finish her words, her chest already felt tight.

"Lola's gonna come up to you again, she's just pissed at you for stealing her chance with Eryk." Rainer tried to entertain.

Gaea smiled bitterly, of course Lola will come closer again just the problem is when will it happen? Lola loved Eryk since she was a girl until now she was a young woman.

Gaea recalled Lola's taunts to her, thinking whether Lola was hurt by her own words considering that Lola often called her Mr. Enzo.

"Oh yeah how? Have you listened to my recommended classical song?" Gaea remembered their friendship mark, she was too focused on Eryk these two days.

"I've been listening before bed, the song is delicious and even makes it easier for me to fall asleep faster" Rainer said with a small smile. "What about you?"

Gaea laughed awkwardly. "Hahaha..I just listened a little, you know Eryk's problem seized my attention, but even a little, I agree the song is good to listen to." explained the spirit.

Rainer stood up, walking with both hands in his pants pocket, letting the cold air touch his skin. "I'm glad you enjoyed it even though I failed to protect you."

"Eh?" protecting himself? "What do you mean?"

"I want you to live like any other normal person, but the more you come down here, the deeper you fall so I can't reach you into the light..."

"rainer..."

"But it's your decision, I can't do much either, I'm weak against Eryk. I can't even change her feelings to any extent I help her" Rainer said. "Make me cross want to go back to Japan."

Gaea stood up. "You want to go back to Japan?"

If Rainer comes back, they won't see each other again, it makes his heart hurt, it's enough he lost Lola, if it's Rainer too, he doesn't know if he's strong enough to accept it.

Gaea breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank God, I still have plenty of time to persuade you not to go home."

Rainer stared at Gaea intensely. "Besides Eryk, you're the biggest reason I'm still here." he admitted.

Gaea's eyes widened.

Rainer said himself? Reasons to stay in New York?

Gaea was touched but there was still something she did not understand. "We just became good friends two days ago how could I be your reason, Rainer?"

Rainer showed off a mysterious smile. "Our relationship is deeper than you think, Gaea," he replied. "I think you've forgotten it or I've done my job perfectly."

"Tasks?" Gaea tilted her head in confusion.

Why does the Enzo family always tell him duty?

Was Enzo's family part of the police force that handled his parents' case? No way, Gaea does not remember meeting Rainer first, they first met at the club.

Maybe Rainer was wrong?

"Your faces are serious."

Gaea turned his head, seeing Eryk and Ferdinand approaching them with two glasses of black liquid which he believed was coffee.

"For you," Eryk held out one of the coffees held by him.

Gaea accepted it with pleasure, to be honest he was not very fond of coffee, but he could not refuse free food or drinks. "Thank you,"

Eryk nodded and drank his coffee.

Silent...

"So how did you get that invitation?" Rainer asked.

"I got it,"

"So you know who you're going with?" ask Rainer again.

Eryk nodded. "I'll be there alone,"

Gaea almost dropped her coffee cup after hearing Eryk's confession.

"Why yourself? Dangerous Eryk." said Rainer.

Gaea nodded. "At least take us."

"Unfortunately I can only bring one person there, it's a rule" Eryk said.

"Then I'll come!" Gaea volunteered, where maybe he let Eryk alone there considering Aizawa was so suspicious.

Eryk shook his head. "I'm determined to be alone, so many people there can't be anything bad."

"We don't know Eryk's situation there, I understand a lot of people, but I still don't agree you're alone, so let me come with you" Rainer said.

Eryk shook his head again, walked over to Rainer, placing his hand on the young man's shoulder. "Your job is to look after Gaea, if anything happens to me, take care of—"

Rainer brushed off Eryk's rough hands. "Don't say that silly, if you want Gaea to be there, that's your job" she said coldly. "If you just want to say that it doesn't make sense, I'm leaving."

Eryk exhaled. "I'm trying to minimize the possibilities here."

"That's not funny" Gaea said seriously. "Your family's a lot, but you choose yourself, you want to kill yourself? I understand you care, at least think of yourself Eryk."

"Gaea.." said Eryk.

Gaea shook her head. "Don't speak. Cool your head, then meet me again after you're done." he said sadly, listlessly following Rainer.

Ferdinand touched Eryk's shoulder, and followed Gaea and Rainer.

Eryk exhaled, staring at the calm stream in front of him...
