Chapter 4: Responsibility

Gaea was stunned to hear it.

Is it too late to say sorry?

Sure oes.

What kind of stupid question is that? The bomb has been dropped so be prepared for any damage.

"Don't act like I'm a murderer" Eryk said.

Gaea ventured a glance at Eryk.

"Where's the ring?" ask Eryk without further ado.

Gaea is gasped; ring? So the ring belonged to Eryk instead of Lola? Then why is it in Lola's work jacket? What happened to Lola and Eryk?

Gaea until now has not found an answer from Lola, they are busy packing goods and shopping for necessities in Ava's hometown. He did intend to talk about it after the new year, not wanting to ruin the happiness of the Ava family atmosphere.

"Gaea." call Eryk impatient. "I need it, you don't know how important the ring is to me."

Gaea immediately twisted her brain, remembering what happened; after arriving home, she tidied up the clothes in preparation to go to Shanghai—"My vacation!" panicked shouting.

"We can come back after you say where the ring is" said Eryk; who cares about the current holiday, Aizawa's trust in him is now on the edge.

Gaea checked her watch then went out the window; it was true that they were not far from the airport; she recalled that, after taking care of her clothes, she took off her clothes—oh my God. "I left the ring in a basket of dirty clothes" she said in a panic.

"What?" Eryk could not believe what he had just heard; a diamond as expensive as that was placed in a dirty clothing place? "We're going to Gaea's apartment, Alex."

"What!?" gaea. "Hey, give me back to the airport first!" protesting, he has given info about the ring why even come along?

"We'll be back after the ring" said Eryk not at all interested.

"But." Her vacation, her money and clothes were in her suitcase, and it was at the airport! The distance of the airport is also quite far if they return as soon as anything will not be overtaken. "Get me out of here! Have you got any information on why I should come?"

"Your apartment door security system is sophisticated, I don't want to waste any more time breaking into it" Eryk explained without further ado.

Gaea was stunned; how could Eryk know about the security door of his apartment? Eryk hasn't been there, did Alex tell him? However, it remains strange to remember the security of his apartment door considering, he, along with his friends are just ordinary employees at the club.

There's something suspicious.

But first... "I don't care about your time! I want to go back!"

Eryk, who had been trying to calm down, was finally provoked by Gaea's irritating voice, quickly holding Gaea's chin, lifting her up to look her blue eyes. "Listen, who brought us into this mess? You hacked my laptop and took the ring—"

"I didn't break into your laptop!" exclaims Gaea; what kind of words is that? He would faint before unlocking Eryk's laptop security how could he break into it while sleeping? Eryk has lost his mind.

"Yes, and I'm a child." said Eryk subtly. "For a bartender, you have the guts to mess with my system."

"But..." Gaea tried reassuringly, she glanced at Rainer for help but the black-haired young man did not look at her at all, focusing on the front of the street with an ear phone in his ear. "You didn't do that! Why did I tell you this morning about the break-in if I stole your ring myself!?"

Eryk thought for a moment; gaea's words were not entirely false, it made sense, nor did he believe it at first but the evidence was already strong considering Gaea had her ring. "I'm against your protest."

Gaea clenched her hands tightly. "Why don't you trust me? I'm not gonna do that to you!"

Eryk began to lose interest in this conversation. "Give me a reason why I should trust you?"

Gaea was instantly silent.

'Because I love you."

Where could he say that.

"See?" Eryk gave a small grin; how could he trust Gaea who speaks a thousand languages when he asks for hard evidence? "So shut up like a sweet doll, trouble will be easier if you shut up."

Gaea's blood was completely boiling; he really hated Eryk as well as the person who dared to blame himself for his criminal actions.

Why was he caught in this maelstrom of chaos?

Gaea does not want this even though it can be close to Eryk.

What did he do so that it could be like this? Is this his fault too?

No. gabe.

It's not his fault, someone who was willing to break into Eryk's data brought him here. He was just unlucky to be in Eryk's workroom, who he was, Gaea assured the man that he would regret dealing with him.

Gaea was a little calm now, she couldn't continue being the wayward woman fighting her boss, as bad as Eryk.

Gaea hopes Lola and Ava are not upset about being left at the airport, leaving them confused about her relationship with Eryk.

Gaea was sure they were in deep shock, considering that Lola and Ava had said nothing at all after he answered Eryk's proposal, or he who is too washed away will his first kiss with Eryk to not hear the voices of his two best friends—?

Gaea is sure to be interrogated. All his belongings were in the examination earlier including his cell phone.

"We've arrived."

Gaea glanced out, and raised next to his eyebrows in wonder that Eryk's car was not parked in the parking lot provided it stopped in front of the white-painted skyscraper. But he swallowed his question raw, and got out of Eryk's black car.

"You take Rainer with you." Eryk ordered flat.

"No," Rainer replied quickly, his black eyes still fixed onto the phone in his hand.

"Why?" ask Eryk astonished.

"Isn't it clear? I don't want to make a scandal with your future wife" Rainer said, mocking, before Eryk replied, he showed her his phone. "Your application is viral in some media" he explained. "Congratulations you've been crowned 'weird couple'."

Eryk takes Rainer's phone roughly, reads and watches the video of his proposal; realizes what he's done; his idea unexpectedly goes viral, surprisingly, it becomes a subject of ridicule and memes even though some say it is romantic.

Rainer could not help but laugh at Eryk's grimacing face, followed by Alex who had been listening silently.

Not accepting being laughed at, Eryk also hit Rainer and Alex on the head with a cell phone in his hand. "I can't believe this, I prepared those words for a month just to be used as meme material!?"

And worse Eryk had to think again because it had been used to propose Gaea earlier.

What a fun day.

"I don't think you're reading until it's over?" ask Rainer. "The reason you and Gaea are memes is because of your unique love for each other" she laughed again. "The couple will praise each other's strengths but you are quite the opposite so funny."

"Yes," Alex agreed. "I mean, who likes their partner's fart?" he said with his laugh.

Rainer laughed remembering.

"Oh..." Eryk understands now. "He started first, what would you do if you were in my position?" his eyes glanced at Gaea who was still standing outside. "This one woman is driving me crazy."

"I think Gaea brought out your best side" Rainer said, honestly.

Best side? Being an angry and impatient man? "Yes, you're right" Eryk said as he rolled his eyeballs. "Get out there Rainer." the orders were cold.

Eryk had enough of being a laughing stock.

"No," Rainer still refused, instead he installed the ear phone as a form of indifference.

Eryk, tired of fighting, got out of the car; sometimes he thought who was the boss here.

"I can do it myself" said Gaea.

"Show me your apartment" said Eryk coldly; could Gaea not protest? Wasn't it tired of that young lady fighting with him?

Why does Gaea hate him so much?

Gaea without answering, stepped into the apartment, and entered the elevator followed by Eryk.

Silent.

No one wanted to open a good conversation from Gae or Eryk, their eyes focused forward.

Gaea himself felt this quiet atmosphere felt strange between them, maybe because of frequent fights so there was less when before this incident, he admired the nature of 'silent' Eryk.

Maybe Gaea can open a conversation?

"No," Eryk immediately cut off the conversation. "We'll talk about it later."

"Oh," later? I don't know if I can later. "OK,"

The atmosphere was silent again until the sound of the elevator doors broke their silence.

Gaea got out of the elevator, and walked over while glancing at each door of the apartment, counting the numbers on the door.

Eryk who saw it smirked a little. "How can anyone not remember his apartment number?"

Gaea rolled her eyeballs; this was because Eryk told her to be quiet so she did so so as not to get bored; not to mind, she checked the door number again until she reached number 70 her footsteps stopped. He glanced at Eryk from behind his shoulder. "Can we stay away?" tanyanya politely.

Eryk did not reply but, according to him, appreciated Gaea's privacy.

Gaea slightly carved a smile to look at it, then opened the security protective cover, stuck his thumb finger on the sensor and after 'pass', the second security code is security, pressed the button again until it reads 'pass'.

Eryk who was watching silently, was satisfied to see Gaea open the door with some security. It seems he will treat because he has obeyed what will from him.

Lola is the best.

Gaea looked for the key in her jacket pocket, and breathed a sigh of relief knowing it was still there, not put it with other items during a check at the airport. Then he opened the door, and froze in the place where he was standing at once and saw something unusual.

Eryk noticed something was wrong from Gaea, walking over. "What's—" his blue eyes were wide-eyed to see in the apartment's room, someone was in the middle brandishing a gun in his hand right in front of Gaea, he swiftly jumped towards Gaea, hugging the young woman's body made them fall on the floor.

Dor's!

The sound of gunfire was heard once with Eryk and Gaea falling to the floor, after which, the mysterious person ran outside Gaea's apartment swiftly.

Eryk who saw it tried to catch the man's leg but failed because it was too far, did not want to be bored, he tried to get up. "Hey!" he shouted, his eyes glancing at Gaea whose body was trembling in fear beneath him, he wanted to calm down but his main priority was currently catching the mysterious person earlier.

Eryk immediately stood up, and tried to catch up, unfortunately failing because the figure had already boarded the elevator, and the door was already closed by the time he got in front of the elevator. "Damn." said hitting the door was frustrating.

He failed, but one thing is certain, the mysterious figure was a man after being seen from the body structure and black pantofel shoes worn by the figure.

Eryk immediately grabbed the phone in his jacket pocket, pressed the 'call' button and placed the phone in his ear.

"Hello?"

"Rainer! I want you to catch whoever comes out on the elevator door." Eryk ordered, his blue eyes glanced at the small black screen monitor above the elevator that showed a number and an arrow down. "F—dia down to the parking space downstairs..."

"What do you mean Eryk?" rainer asked confused across the phone.

"Gaea's room was broken, and the man tried to shoot Gaea but missed. Now he's running off with his loser," explains Eryk annoyed.

"Fu—do you think it's Kervyn?" ask Rainer.

"I can't assume that small" said Eryk; the assault was too random, nor had he checked his surroundings. "Here you go, you quickly take cover and go after him!"

"I'm doing it,"

Eryk immediately turned off the call after hearing Rainer's reply; his blue eyes glanced at Gaea sitting on the floor, still shocked by the incident. He sighed, then walked over, crouching in front of Gaea. "Everything will be fine, Rainer and Alex are dealing with" he said as gently as possible, trying to calm down.

Gaea lifted her head, staring inside Eryk as if to say: really?

Eryk understood and nodded.

Gaea breathed a sigh of relief.

Why would anyone break into his room? He has no valuable things.

Except...

Gaea's thoughts were interrupted as Eryk's hands wrapped around her body, and raised it as if it was as light as a feather, quickly a red hue appeared on her cheek. "I don't need this." The protest was weak.

Eryk ignored Gaea's protest, instead tightening his hand on the young woman's body so as not to fall and then enter the apartment and sit Gaea on the sofa. "Everything is safe" he said staring into the young woman's green eyes. "I'll check first, okay?" soft door.

Gaea hesitated for a moment. "Here, right?" his question was doubtful; he did not want to be left behind, let alone in the apartment that had just been broken into.

Eryk nodded small.

"Alright," murmured Gaea quietly; where perhaps he refused Eryk's request.

It's for her own safety too.

Eryk carved out a faint smile even giving a soft pat on Gaea's head, calming down once more, before then re-enforcing his body.

Eryk's face immediately turned serious when he looked around the contents of the apartment.

'Now we begin the investigation.'

Eryk started by checking out the apartment, checking the security of the door, surprisingly there was no sign of damage.

Gaea was also doing a room security check, there was nothing wrong with that earlier.

Eryk checked the keyhole of the door, and again, no trace was found if the door had been broken into.

His blue eyes glared forward.

This break-in is too neat for an amateur.

Eryk went back inside. "I know it's not something that stays because you're still in shock" he said. "But can you check if anything has changed or gone missing?"

Gaea hesitated for a moment, before finally getting up, her legs were still shaking but not as badly as before, she felt that she would be fine, and perhaps by moving it would be gone. "OK,"

"I know you're a strong woman." said Eryk, then came back out of the apartment, to check the direction of the shot, measuring her height. "Any." The direction of the shot was far above his head.

Eryk was sure his eyes saw the gun pointed at Gaea's chest so he immediately tried to protect, but after seeing the distance the bullet missed made him wonder.

Was it planned or panicked did not expect there would be him so the shot missed?

Eryk also saw the tip of his gun using a silencer so it does not cause a loud sound when fired.

Talking voice.

Eryk glanced left and right, wondering again.

Slender.

Where are the residents of the apartment next to Gaea?

This break-in is too bizarre and suspicious.

Eryk's blue eyes widened, is it possible that the burglar was eyeing his ring? Butwhy? No one knew about the ring being in Gaea's hands except Rainer and Alex, or...

"Eryk," call Gaea.

"Huh?" Eryk awoke from his daydream; gaea was in front of him now. "What's wrong?"

Gaea hesitated for a moment. "Everything is fine" he said excitedly.

"What?"

"No valuables are missing!" Gaea. "Your ring is also there," he continued to show off a ring with a pink diamond in his hand.

Eryk's eyes narrowed; instead it grew even more suspicious. Without saying anything, he took out his ring, frowning knowing it was only covered with a handkerchief. It is a good movement so as not to cause scratches but Gaea can put it in the box or whatever.

"But there is one strange thing" Gaea said.

Eryk stopped putting the ring into the red box in his hand.

"My student's identity card's gone,"
