The Card Cultivation System

The Card Cultivation System
CCS-46

Xika is now moving towards the north quite casually, but that does not mean the pace is slow.

Every now and then he would turn to make sure he was not followed or there were no snakes around.

It was dark now so Xika stopped walking and decided to rest.

He made a fire using his qi then burned the fish he caught earlier. He caught enough fish, enough for two. Because indeed he caught the fish for himself and Xingli, but who would have thought that they would split up halfway.

So Xika had two fish meals and she did not need to hunt again for the next day.

Xika waited for a while before the fish matured. Then he threw his card and pulled back the card that had been lodged in the belly of the fish.

Suddenly a voice appeared in his head. It was a very annoying voice but he had been missing for the past few days.

"Hahhhh.., nasty. What kind of brother eats himself and does not share his food with his brother?"

Then a bird of two colors appeared in front of Xika.

"Huo Bing!"

Xika stood up and immediately hugged Huo Bing who also hugged her back, even though it looked a bit strange.

"Thank God you're not dead. Are you all right?"

"Heh, I won't die that easily by that damn wolf. And, yes I'm fine."

Before Xika could answer Huo Bing, Heiliao's egg moved out of her robe and a crack appeared in the middle of the egg.

The cracks were getting bigger and bigger, until finally the egg broke and came out a small wolf.

"Who do you call a fucking wolf, a half-baked bird?"

"Of course you're a fucking wolf!"

Xika immediately mediated them by thrusting her grilled fish at Huo Bing and Lang Heiliao.

Heiliao was instantly silent after finishing two grilled fish and he slept hugging his own tail, but with a distance that was arguably quite close to Xika.

"I left you with the wolf. After that what happened? I don't remember anything else and why did it come out of the egg in a small form?"

"Ehhhhhh... It may be a bit difficult to explain....."

Xika glanced briefly at Heiliao who was sound asleep, and made sure she was not offended to hear his words.

Heiliao just moved his head slightly.

Seeing that, Xika thinks Heiliao doesn't mind telling her story.

"Well, after you got back to my dantian, I showed her that I could switch rooms. And he wasn't impressed. At once, anger rose and I shouted at him.

We yelled at each other for a while, I said that he was not worthy of living, unlike me and you who had a reason to live. Then he closed his eyes and asked me to show him why I was alive. After that it turned into a black fog and entered me which I immediately spewed out and the mist formed an egg that you saw a moment ago."

Xika turned her head and found Heiliao was looking at her with a gaze that was difficult to interpret or indeed had no meaning, Xika did not know.

"Oh yes, thanks for the previous one. I don't know what would have happened if you hadn't saved me before."

"......"

Heiliao only stared into Xika's eyes for a while then closed her eyes again and went to sleep.

"Before? Rescuing it? What's going on?"

"Ehh...After Heiliao turned into an egg, the place was destroyed and we - me and Xingli - returned to the forest earlier.

Don't you remember saying anything before?"

"I just remember saying that I need a little sleep."

"Well, I saved you with Xingli's pills. And he refused to be paid.  So I spent some time cultivating after that playing cards with Xingli for a while, before he finally-"

"Let me guess, you won all the rounds decisively and he didn't take it until he attacked you. Am I right?"

"Well, it's more or less like that."

Huo Bing smiled in satisfaction at hearing his guess was right. Now he has a friend.

"After that I decided to catch fish in the river I took a bath earlier. But a water snake attacked me and reminded me of what we did before."

Huo Bing's expression worsened when he heard Xika talking about the snake, but he remained silent and listened.

"I immediately ran with Xingli, but I forgot to kill the water snake, so he leaked my location to his fellow man.

Not long after we ran, we met a big snake. However the snake did not see Xingli. So I who already owed him the pills didn't want to owe him any more. So I decided it was time to part ways.

And he left me with a big snake that was constantly chasing me. I've tried all sorts of things, but he's still following me.

Until Heiliao finally flew - with an egg of course - and crashed the snake to death. Then he absorbed the snake until only the bones were left."

"Then what are you doing now?"

"Before parting ways, Xingli told me the nearest town with a cultivator strong enough to handle the snake. I'm going there to make sure I'm safe, and then I'm going to think about next. But since it was dark I decided to rest."

Huo Bing thought for a while then nodded in agreement.

"Good decision. But from now on I will train you one more thing."

"What's that?"

"You can't sleep well."

"What's? Why?"

"You should stay alert to your surroundings, even when you're sleeping. You can't count on me. There will be times when we part or I can't warn you."

Xika still wanted to ask but when she saw the firmness in Huo Bing's eyes, she stopped asking and followed what Huo Bing had told her.

So for the past few days Xika slept with staying alert and feeling the surroundings if there was any danger.

After three days, Xika was more used to Huo Bing's training.

And now they have reached their destination.

Xika stood in front of the queue of many people and looked at the city gate with the inscription ⁇ yi lang which means wolf wings or winged wolf, Xika did not know.

"Huo Bing."

"What's wrong?"

"This is the first time I've entered the city. The city or village I visited before was destroyed because of me. What would I do if I destroyed this city too? The residents look so happy, I can't stand it when the happiness is gone because of me. Would I rather just turn around and stay in the woods?"

".......Relax, it's okay. After all, didn't you yourself say that in this city there were strong enough cultivators? That cultivator could definitely become this city. You don't have to think about that. Focus on getting stronger."

Xika nodded then took a deep breath before advancing and queuing along.

Since the queue was quite long, Xika had to wait for several hours before her turn arrived.

"You're next."

"Yes?"

"Say your name, your age, and what you came to this town for."

"Xing Xika, 15 years old, and ehhhh... visit I guess?"

Xika could not possibly say that he came to this city to seek refuge. Most likely he was expelled because it was considered to bring disaster to this city.

The guard raised his eyebrows when he heard the reason Xika came to this city, but he did not care and just recorded it.

"The entrance fee is 1 piece of silver coin."

The guard stuck out his hand while Xika who saw that was confused.

He reached into his pocket before finally finding the claws of the tiger he had killed and handed them over.

"Ehh....Can I pay you with this?"

The guard picked up the claw that Xika handed over and watched it stickily for a while. Then after determining that the price was roughly equivalent to one silver coin, he nodded and let Xika in.

Then the person behind Xika was about to pay in the same way that Xika did, but he was rejected.

"The entrance fee should be copper, bronze, or silver coins."

"But the kid just paid you with the claws of a Spirit Beast. The claw I gave him was no less, even more valuable than the claw he gave me, why was I rejected?"

The guard looked at the person behind Xika who turned out to be a merchant and said,

"Didn't you see what the kid was wearing? His clothes were very shabby and filled with tears here and there. It was possible that he had come to this city to earn a living, so I let him out of pity on her. How're you? You're clearly not short of money, you greedy merchant."

Finally the merchant paid the entrance fee with the silver coin with his mouth still nagging.

Xika who heard all those things felt quite embarrassed to be considered a gem, but also quite grateful to the guard.

So the first thing Xika did was to go to the darkest alley that people rarely went through, then take out the Spirit Beast body part from her spatial ring. Huo Bing suggested this.

He argued that it would not hurt to hide his spatial ring.

After that Xika came out and went to the shop that sold and bought the Spirit Beast body parts.

Xika realized that he needed money in this city. Although she had such a precious part of the Spirit Beast, but in some circumstances it would be troublesome, so Xika decided to earn some money first by selling the Spirit Beast part she had.

Xika came in front of the shop and was greeted with a dislike look.

"Go! We are not a charity shop. We won't give you money or bread for free."
