Chapter 54: He Chose His Own Destiny

Half an hour later, we reached Cuernavaca airport at sunrise. I didn't realize it before, but I definitely didn't realize for several hours of deep sleep, after my clash with Pierre and his bodyguards. Shit, I'm really tired.

I struggle with moral dilemmas. The pilot could tell the others what would happen if I saved his life, and that would make more people chase after me. But I can't kill him in cold blood, because I ha d promised Alex not to kill again. I decided to let him choose his own fate. I touched his left shoulder and felt my empathic power surge.

“Benjamin William Cook. You have to make tough decisions about life and death. " I said firmly.

"Wait... How do you know my name??" Benjamin stammered in shock.

“Don't worry about that. Just answer my question. ” I replied.

" okay... So what do you want me to decide?" Benjamin asked.

"Do you prefer to suffer permanent amnesia or die, "my answer is cold.

"Can't you just let me go? I promised not to tell anyone what happened, "Benjamin pleaded. "I cannot keep a promise conjured at gunpoint" I replied.  Benjamin nodded and replied, "Then I choose death." "Death?" I said in surprise, not expecting him to reject any other option. "I love my family so much, I can't live with myself if I forget them" Benjamin said in a broken but firm voice. "Alright, then I will kill you," I replied and pointed my gun at Benjamin's head.

As I was about to shoot, Alex pushed my hand and stopped me. “ Sabina, this is not who you are, I know you are a kind person, you promised d not to kill anymore!” Alex exclaimed in an annoyed voice.

"He won't. I vouch. " Alex said and continued. "Benjamin, do you want to start a new life, a life where you can do good for the world?" Alex looked at him with innocent eyes. "Yes... Yes, I know", said Benjamin weakly. “Very good. As CEO of Building a More World Pty Ltd, I will hire you as my personal pilot. Your first job is to fly our private jet to Hawaii. " "Thank you Sir. I accept this offer. " Benjamin answered.

We got on the plane and took off before the Mexican government found out about Pierre Beaumont's death. When the plane reached the Pacific Ocean, I felt a deep sense of relief, but could also feel a frightening premonition. Alex's compassionate actions towards the pilot will cause us more pain and suffering in the future. I turned to Alex and whispered into his ear, "You shouldn't have done that, he'll turn against us."

" No, he won't, and other than that I can't let you kill him in cold blood" Alex replied defiantly.

"He chose his own fate, "I replied coldly.

“No, he chose the least bad option for her. Choosing death instead of forgetting the people he loved proved to me that he was a good man. " Alex answered.

"I'm not sure, "I answered seriously.

"I don't either" Alex replied, stopping, and continuing, "But I'd rather die again, than lose my morality."
