Every time Thomas lost his temper, ten hunting dogs could not pull him back. Anna laughed bitterly, annoyed that she had no choice but to take the man to the administration building of the top three broadcast sites.
The first one they visited was the Younique company building.
They arrived at the boss' office. Younique's boss, Edwin Smith, was quite polite. He told Thomas to sit on the couch. He then served her a snack and tea. His hospitality was filled with attention and thoroughness.
Edwin smiled sweetly and asked, "It's nice to see you visiting me today, Mr. Thomas. What brings you here?"
Thomas waved his hand and went straight to the point.
"I came just to clarify one thing, our company invested in and made a web movie 'It's Always Been You'. Can your site give us top recommendation placement on the homepage?"
Edwin chuckled for a moment. He then stood up and walked a few steps while chuckling. "Father of Mayo, the web movie produced by your Scott Memorial Cultural Arts Entertainment, is sure to be great. As it happens, I should be able to put you on the top recommendation homepage. But the problem is that now all the slots are fully booked at this time. There are no additional placements left.
"Why don't you wait a minute, Mr Mayo? Maybe after a month or two, the placement of the top recommendations will open by then. When the time comes, I will definitely order it for you. How's that sound?"
Thomas snorted coldly inwardly.
After a month or two? Can they delay it that long?
Capitalism is cold and heartless. After wasting so much money, how could they not release the film?
After all, anyone could tell if Edwin was just looking for an excuse to kick him out.
If they were really going to wait a month or two, Thomas was afraid the result would be the same. They'll only delay it longer and longer until you give up yourself.
For a man like Edwin, he had perfected the art of procrastination. He would not offend anyone, but he could tell people when they should stop.
At that moment, the office door opened. A man and a woman came in. Soren and Rowena from Hegemony Entertainment.
Edwin approached them immediately. "Hi, Mr. Harlow and Miss Bolton. You two came so fast. I was just about to pick you both up."
Rowena who was beside him immediately saw Thomas. He had not forgotten his bitterness before and purposely asked, "Wow, the big boss of the Cultural Arts Entertainment Warning Scott came here personally. What important business are you talking about?"
Edwin chuckles. "Nothing is too important. Thomas's goal comes the same as your goal, you all come for the placement of the top recommendations of the main homepage."
Soren's forehead wrinkled. "But Mr. Smith, you've promised me in advance that you'll keep the placement for me."
Edwin patted his chest, "You can be sure. I've booked a spot for you for a long time, to be specially prepared for your new movie - Knowing a Woman's Heart Best'!"
As he said this, Thomas's countenance turned incredulous.
He asked coldly, "Sir Smith, but you just told me that all the slots are full. No placement left."
Edwin was stuck at the time and lost for words.
"Haha, what now do you not understand?" Rowena deliberately walked in front of Thomas and mocked him. "Of course they will leave top placements for top films. And the movie starring me, Rowena Bolton, as the lead actress, is sure to attract huge traffic when my name is on the cast list!
"Those who don't know me, can't wait to click and watch when they see my beautiful and alluring figure. Also, the films produced by Hegemony Entertainment are all in high demand, so of course, we can get that placement."
Rowena purposely said to Thomas, "And let's take a look at Scott's Cultural Arts Entertainment production. Your cast are just third-rate artists thrown out of random odd corners. Who will recognize their names? If you put 'junk' like this in the top recommendations, isn't that just a waste of resources?"
"Not that Mr. Smith here has no placement, he just doesn't want to waste it. He's looking for a reason to save your self-esteem. Why, do you really want Mr. Smith to tell you directly that your movie is trash, and they can't put it on the homepage ? Are you satisfied now?"
His words were a bit cruel, but that was the logic behind it.
Edwin did not deny it. Quietly agreeing to what Rowena had just said.
