Chapter 7 The Roman Empire and the God of War!
In the midst of a battlefield full of blood and fire, Prince Louis stood tall in the face of a rain of arrows that threatened his life. With two sparkling swords in his hands, he repelled every approaching arrow with an agile and graceful movement. That action left the Federation troops dumbfounded. They did not believe that Prince Louis could survive the deadly attack without carrying a shield.
Some Federation troops immediately made barricades out of wood and iron, then the infantry troops carrying swords and shields lined up neatly behind him to protect themselves from Prince Louis. Meanwhile, the spear force advanced forward and brandished its spear towards Prince Louis.
“Strike!” order a letkol wearing a helmet with flaming red fur.
Prince Louis is not afraid. It leaped high up in the air, passing through the barricades and the spear troops with ease. On landing, he slashed down the Federation troops that were beneath him with his sharp sword. Blood mixed with dust on the ground.
Seeing Prince Louis trapped on the battlefield, Count Kylar did not remain silent. He decided to start an all-out attack on General 1, the leader of the Federation forces.
“Serang! Protect Prince Louis!” count Kylar shouted on his gallant horse. The gates of the Imperial fortress were wide open and the entire Imperial army ran out in excitement.
On the other hand, General 1 was in deep trouble. Whenever any Federation troops tried to block his way, Prince Louis attacked and killed him with a single slash. Slowly, Prince Louis approached General 1.
“Give up, General. Stop this futile resistance. Join the Empire and I will give you salvation,” Prince Louis said in a cold voice.
The Federation lost its morale. They did not even dare to attack Prince Louis anymore. They could only see the figure of Prince Louis standing firmly in the middle of the battlefield like a war god descending from the sky.
General 1 doesn't seem to believe what he saw. Finally he understood why Prince Louis was referred to as “God of War”.
General 1 got off his horse and took the great sword on his back.
“Great, with just the words and determination you showed, no one dares to attack again. Is this what people call ‘God of War’,” said General 1 in a tone full of admiration.
“Are you going to give up?” asked Prince Louis while pointing his sword at General 1.
“No, I fight not for my country anymore, I fight for myself!” general 1 said in a loud tone.
“Alright, if that's your choice, death you'll get!” prince Louis said firmly.
General 1 swung his greatsword at Prince Louis, but it was very slow. Prince Louis immediately retreated to dodge, then he prepared horses to face the attack of General 1.
General 1 attacked again, but this time he attacked from above. Fortunately Prince Louis was able to avoid it, then he got a gap and directly pierced the stomach of General 1. However, unexpectedly, Prince Louis' sword was broken.
Prince Louis was caught off guard because his sword was broken so he could not avoid a powerful blow from General 1. He fell on the ground, but he still had one sword stuck on the ground to hold his body.
“What's up, Prince Louis? Are you surprised?” general 1 said in a mocking tone.
General 1 opened up some of his extremely heavy armor. On his stomach is an iron protector holding a stab from Prince Louis. After taking off his armor, General 1 attacked Prince Louis from above, but this time his speed was so fast that Prince Louis could not avoid it.
General 1 smiled as his attack hit Prince Louis, but the smile turned into an unexpected surprise when he saw Prince Louis holding the greatsword of General 1 with both hands. Prince Louis strengthened his hand and broke the great sword.
“What!? Impossible,” said General 1 with a trembling voice.
“Great, but it's over,” said Prince Louis as he pulled out his sword stuck in the ground. Quickly, he beheaded General 1.
Count Kylar's troops cheered when he saw the Federation General leaving.
"Victory to the Empire!" shouted the entire Imperial army while raising their flag.
The war ended after the death of General 1, hundreds of Federation troops surrendered and the rest fled back to the union city.

The Imperial Army consisted of 5 divisions led by experienced Generals. Each division led by a lieutenant general has the responsibility to lead 4 to 5 colonels.
Each colonel also has the responsibility to lead 2 dedicated lieutenant colonels.
Each lieutenant colonel is responsible for commanding 300 to 1000 strong, battle-ready soldiers. They were the backbone of the Imperial army that maintained cohesiveness and discipline at every level of the hierarchy.

In a strong and structured military hierarchy in the Roman Empire, each rank had a responsibility and the number of soldiers it led. Here is a list of military ranks of the Roman Empire.
Imperial Marshal: Leader of the entire army.
Chief of Military: Chief commander of the army and navy.
Army General: As army leader in the army.
General of the Navy: As the leader of the army in the navy.
Lieutenant General: Leader of the army division.
Colonel: Leader of several battalion or regiment units.
Lieutenant Colonel: Leader of one battalion.
Captain: Leader of an army company, usually consisting of dozens of personnel.
In this system of military rank, the number of soldiers led gradually decreased along with the decline in rank level. This creates an efficient command structure and allows each leader to focus on their individual units, be it large units or smaller tactical units.

Unlike the military rank obtained because of achievements and experience, the rank of nobility follows the family lineage and is forever.
