Day by day passed. Arlan spent most of his time training in the field of invulnerability and healing. He wants, at the right time, to protect Manda and Nanda.
Several times Lili caught him coming home late and escorted Nanda. The Imam did not forbid Arlan. He had even given up on dragging his employer's son home in time. Arlan grew more and more courageous to resist. He also did not hesitate to ask where else his parents kept the bodies of people they used as collateral.
Unlike Lili who still feels worried about Arlan, Fahmi is not so. Arlan manages to upset him and raises his hand from Arlan's life. He even said with his own mouth that he would not care anymore if Arlan ended up dying at the hands of Larasati.
That night, it was quite cold. The cold even pierced into the bones. The weather forecast says that tonight there will be a rainstorm.
Manda and Nanda have been at Arlan's house since dusk. Gina asked them to be there tonight. Gina has nightmares about Arlan. However, he couldn't possibly be there because it would give rise to unnecessary gossip. Be it only Manda and Nanda who go to Arlan's house after school and wait for what's going to happen tonight.
Manda looked out the window, where the black clouds were hovering low. The rumbling sound of lightning sounded from a place not so far away. "Home protectors are thinning" said Manda.
"My parents don't seem to care much about my safety" said Arlan, who sat on the living room couch.
"But this is not good" added Manda. "Lo knew for himself that the agreement with the jinn was not that easy to cancel or end. Who's strong, who wins."
"Gue thought, they already knew what the consequences of their actions were. They are not children anymore" replied Arlan. Actually, even though she said that, she felt sad about what her parents did. Arlan understood that her parents wanted to help her. But, their wrong way cannot be used as an example for Arlan.
"There's news from my friend" Nanda, who was consciously staring at her mobile screen, suddenly sat up straight. Eyes rounded. "Say, they found the 'hive' of the jinn again. This time there are six bodies and one of them is new."
Arlan swallowed with great difficulty. "Have you called the police?" tanyakanya.
Nanda turned to Arlan and nodded. "By heading to TKP."
"Lo's okay?" Manda walked up to Arlan, then sat down next to him.
Arlan nodded loudly, though his heart shook. "Gue has to face this."
"Where are your parents?"
Arlan shrugged his shoulders. "don't know. Maybe take care of their jinn who are raging?" Arlan answered the origin.
"If you have no purpose, you can stay in my house" said Nanda suddenly.
"It's not you who decides" said Manda.
"I'll ask Mom and Dad later" continued Nanda. "The news of missing persons and the discovery of bodies has been reduced lately."
Manda shook her head as her twin brother suddenly changed the subject. "That means, the growth is reduced."
"That's why the protective line in this house is also thinning."
"Is that why you asked us to come here?"
Nanda nodded. "We have to be prepared with the most bu-possible"
DHARR!!!
The three teenagers who were in the living room, reflexes lowered their heads due to the sound of an explosion above their heads. Not too long later, the sound of raining rumbling filled the room. Arlan, Nanda, and Manda exchanged glances. The three of them felt the same. Their feathers bristled and a feeling of horror instantly ambushed them. For a long time, their noses smelled an incredible stench.
"So that wasn't a thunderbolt, was it?" Manda broke the stiffness between them.
Arlan hurriedly grabbed Manda's hand. "Make sure you're always near me" he asked.
"I'm sorry, I don't look, do I?" nanda's words were answered only by the grin of Arlan. "Hhh, let's get ready with whatever's coming!"
GGRRRRRRRRR!
They turned their heads towards the stairs visible from the living room, the place where the growling sounds came from.
"He's in!" hiss Nanda and immediately put up the horses. He's ready to fight.
Manda did the same. Now, he is more confident because he has trained more than the other day. "Don't go far. You must heal our wounds immediately" Manda whispered to Arlan.
"My food... My food... I hungry... Ggggrrr..."
Arlan did not blink when he saw the figure as tall as the ceiling of their house, down the stairs. His long toes gripped each time he passed the stairs. His hands twitched on both sides of the body, dragging each creature forward.
"It smells so bad!"
Nanda's voice made Arlan aware. He was frightened by the figure in front of him, until he forgot what he was doing.
The more the creature approached, the more certain Arlan was that it was his grandfather. His grandfather's face became older than the last time Arlan saw him. His eyes are black. When grinning, pointy teeth filled Pareng's mouth. The stench of rotten smell was getting louder with each step the creature took.
"Finally... Could in... Hungering... Ggrr..." Pareng grinned wider, aware that Arlan was in front of him.
"For now?" whisky Manda.
"He's first" replied Nanda. "Lan, get ready with the shield!"
"okay." Arlan focused his mind. He did not take his eyes off Pareng. He also emitted waves around them just in case there was aggressive movement from all directions.
Seringai Pareng disappeared as Arlan emitted a protective wave. Apparently, he had not expected that Arlan learned to use his abilities.
"Awas, Lan! He's on guard!" nanda said without looking. His eyes examined Preng's every move.
"My food... My food.." growled Pareng. A burrow dripped from the end of his rotten mouth. His face had long since turned into an angry face. "MY FOODUU!!!" he cried and jumped to hit three teenagers in front of him.
OH, PHAANGGG!!!
Arlan spread out his hands, making a shield right in front of Pareng's nose. The next second, Pareng bounced off due to hitting Arlan's shield.
"AAAAARRRRGGGHHHHH!!!"
Arlan knows that Pareng is wrathful. He mounted the horses, preparing in case there was a clash of strength between them.
"NOW!" Nanda suddenly darted, followed by Manda who did not lose quickly.
Arlan soon follows, not letting Nanda and Manda get away from his reach. He had to make sure the two of them didn't bounce in the wrong direction and inflict fatal injuries on them. If he could, Arlan would form a shield every time Pareng made an attack.
"YARRRGHHH!!!! YO!!!!" erang Pareng when he received a blow from Nanda and Manda. "KITTYYREAS!!!"
"Hehehe" Nanda chuckled. "Lo used the power of the jinn and demons, but can still say we cheated?" insinuations. "Thank you!" He sped up again, followed by Manda. This time, however, the company is ready. He dodged and was about to stick his claws on the back of Nanda who passed him.
PHANG!!!
'Nice timing!' batin Arlan when successfully dispelled the Preng attack. Pareng's hand bounced, making some of his claws broken.
BHUAK!!!
The sudden attack from Manda landed perfectly on the back of his head. The paddle staggered forward. He fell to his knees. Arlan immediately ran over to Manda. Arlan recalled how Manda was injured when in direct contact with the lion's genie mane the other day.
Arlan checked Manda's right leg quickly. His knees were in an improper position. "illness?"
"Keseleo," said Manda.
"Nan, hold him a minute!" pinta Arlan's. Arlan could not use his science if he wanted to use the power to heal.
"View... What's that..." Pareng rise from the fall. His eyes widened when he saw Arlan using healing power. "My food... Greatable... Hungering... Hungry..."
"Wad... Big problem, nih," muttered Nanda, aware that Pareng increasingly wanted Arlan's soul.
