You're My Antidote

You're My Antidote
Proposal Day

All the King's immediate family were present. No one seemed unhappy except for his two best friends.

Adit still tried to smile at him even though it seemed stiff, not as usual. Unlike Rere who openly shows his dislike for Rani.

Ever since they knew him, Rere had not liked him.

The King's female companions highly upheld social status. So how would a girl with such a high caste befriend her who was just a parlour girl. Especially when he continues to be around the King for all the reasons that exist. Rere's gaze was always unfriendly. The look that Rani had ignored all this time.

As for the King, what could Rani expect from that cold-hearted man. Of course the King will remain with his flat appreciation even though Rani looks different at this time.

Today Rani decided to change her appearance. Trying to improve yourself by starting from appearance. The reason is simple, he wants to be a better person, although good luck seems to still stay away from him.

Rani doesn't really listen to what people are saying. It was as if he was trapped in his mind. Until the hand of the mother of the orphanage who always held it during the event was released, then Rani's consciousness returned. Look at the mother who stands. Probably responding to a proposal from the King's side.

"I am not the mother who conceived and gave birth to Rani. But I raised her up until now." mother looked at her warmly before looking back at the guests present. The gaze of the mother of the parlour had never changed more than twenty years passed. Always warm, always soothing. "But I sincerely love Rani who I consider to be my own biological child."

From the story that Rani heard, the mother of the orphanage in Phonis was unable to have children after having a miscarriage and uterine damage early in her marriage. Made the woman abandoned and divorced even while she was still hospitalized.

The incident left a deep wound and a sense of trauma. He decided to no longer marry and chose to establish an orphanage that still stands today.

"This child has sacrificed a lot for us. Life is not easy, but he never complains."

Rani smiled thinly. Not feeling good about what the house mom said. He just doesn't believe himself to be that strong.

All this time he did not complain because for him there was no point in doing so. Complaining will not change the situation. All he has to do is survive. Fighting for the happiness of those he loves.

"He forced the strengthening of the back on his small body just for the sake of us that he could call family."

Rani tried hard. But the words of the orphanage mother touched the heart and made her eyes heat up. The voice of the mother of the home also shook to hold back the cry, making Rani unable to shed tears.

"I feel I have no right to decide on an answer to my father's proposal. All I leave to Rani." Rani nodded in disagreement. The mother of the parlor is entitled, because she is her mother.

"But I just want to tell the King. Mother tipped Rani, if only Rani received a proposal from the King's son. Please, please, please happy mother's daughter who has never felt real happiness."

Rani glanced at the King who was just sitting speechless. He wondered what the man's head was.

"Mother hope, son of the King can be a reason for Rani to be happy. And if not, I hope I don't want the King because I feel pain."

***

The king had intended to accept this marriage. Or at least no longer rebel and make mama sad. Because that's the only reason now.

But the King was choked to hear what the mother of the parlour had to say. He doesn't know what to answer. He does not know if he can make Rani happy like what the mother of the orphanage expects. And he's also not sure if he won't hurt Rani.

Mama nudged her stomach when she was just silent. His eyes were all staring and seemed to be waiting for an answer from him.

Pounding awkwardly, the King gave a response. "I can't promise you anything, but I'll try."

He looked at his mother, afraid of being wrong. But she looked at him with a proud smile and nodded. Swiping the back of his hand. Makes him relieved because the answer does not disappoint the woman beside him.

"So how's Rani? did you accept our proposal?"

"I." The girl seemed hesitant. Staring at the nursing home mother gave support. "I received goodwill from Mr. Rasya and his family. And I'm willing to be the future wife of the King's brother."

Everyone is giving thanks. And the event continues by talking about wedding plans that will take place in ten days.

Amidst the meal together, an uninvited guest suddenly appeared with a confused expression that was immediately approached by Rani and invited to go somewhere.

Out of curiosity, the King decided to follow the two.

"I go to the toilet first." said to Adit who ate with no taste.

The King hurried out of the hall. Fear of losing track of the two.

Luckily the King was still able to see the back of the two who had turned at the end of the corridor.

When the King reached the garden behind the parlor, the King stood behind the red shoots that were many in the back garden. And what he could catch from the conversation of the two who were sitting on one of the existing benches was the speech of Haikal. Rani's Friend.

"Why should the King?!"

As a fellow man, could the King feel there was a disappointed and angry tone that Haikal was trying to endure.

Do the two have a relationship that the King does not know about?

Why would Haikal be so angry if the two were just friends?

"You know, from childhood I always idolized the King?"

Either the girl is serious or just trying to stand up to cover up the smallness of her family. The king does not know.

"But you said the King was just an idol you never expected to love."

Rani nodded with her fake smile. "But who the hell, Kal, would refuse if someone you idolized suddenly came to propose?"

Haikal did not seem to believe it and still tried to argue, but Rani first interjected.

"Don't King. Lee min ho who came to propose, I will definitely accept. What more a king I've known from childhood."

The king no longer wanted to listen to the debate between the two men. He did not want to feel more guilty for Rani.

He stepped out of the back garden. Instead of returning to the hall, the King preferred the front garden of the parlour and lit a cigarette that was nailed to his pants.

To be honest, he had long since abandoned the nicotine object. The king only smokes occasionally when he is stressed as he is today.
