After Two Decades

After Two Decades
The End of the Gang

The car was still driving without a clear purpose. Bend like a racer through several intersections and turns. The sports car in the back was also still hunting ferociously, even the distance was getting closer. Fortunately the police officer who drove our car was very proficient and clever, he maneuvered and turned to many shortcuts to overwhelm our pursuers.

"Where are we really?" I exclaimed.

"I don't have a place here either" replied Jan. "Sir, where should we go?"

"I don't know yet either, but take it easy" replied the police officer. "I'll confuse them and target them. They are not people who come from here, it looks like they are not clean and do not know the streets here. It also meant that they were definitely not Black Skull troops in disguise."

Jan and I nodded in disrespect. That's one advantage for us. However, our heads are now filled with new questions and problems. Who exactly are those people? What do they have to do with the Black Skull? If they had no connection and no connection whatsoever, why did they emerge from the ship? Even if they had a relationship with the Black Skull, what was their problem with us that they attacked and chased after us in this way? There was no way the Black Skull was using the troops from the other party to attack us whereas the troops they had were endless. If I remember that, the mysterious people appeared suddenly carrying weapons and attacked as soon as we arrived near the ship. That means they've been waiting for us there, and it also means they already know that we're coming there. How the hell did they know? If they were just sensitive and self-protective because they thought we were cops, they wouldn't have chased us to this extent that hasn't even stopped. Obviously they have a serious problem with us. Whoever those people are, they must know there's me or Jan in the cop car they're hunting. It must be between us that the two of us are their targets. Either they're Jan's enemies, or maybe my enemies. Or our enemies both. Professionally, we have many enemies. After all, it was impossible for their business to be with this cop, or the local police. Our friend's police just said that those people weren't from here. So, who are they really?

My head was shrouded in questions while our car was still speeding up and turning here and there. It looks like it has come a long way. Whereas from earlier, the police who drove this car only took us around this area through the paved roads and canals that are a lot. The sports car in the back is also still trailing wherever we go.

The car's sirens were turned off. We entered a crowded area of the road this time, it was quite difficult to speed up like before. Inevitably have to slow down and be careful. However, our driver is already an expert and professional, he is able to drive nimbly tucked between those densities without nudging a single other vehicle. While our chase cars were stuck in the back, they had trouble breaking through the part of the road that started to jam. It gave us time to get away and out of their attention. Hundreds of meters ahead we drove and left them. Turning at the intersection, they have completely lost track of us now.

Not so far after driving from the intersection, the driver stepped on the brake pedal deeply while turning the steering wheel towards an alley that seemed wide enough to enter the car. The wheels squeaked and scratched the marks of friction on the asphalt of the road, then the car immediately entered into the alley between the two large buildings. Down that slum alley to the end. The end of the alley is a residential area, rows of simple wooden houses and some even weathered and look dilapidated. I was a little surprised to see that sight. I did not expect, behind the towering buildings and portraits of the progress of the city, there was still a simple life and still left without any touch of progress. It turns out that there is still a housing complex of lower-class economic residents hidden behind luxury homes and shopping areas.

"You guys get down here" said our friend's police officer. "I'm sorry, I had to leave it here, while I'm going to go distract those people from you!"

"alright, Sir. Thank you!"

My best friend and I got out of the vehicle without much protest and questioning.

"Good, see you!" the police said from inside the car. After the windshield was raised, the car drove sideways towards another, translucent alley back onto the highway. Leave us both in that slum.

"How now?" I asked Jan.

"Before a minute" answered my friend, turning over. Then he reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone. Reopen the map that was shown. However, after staring at his phone screen for a while, he looked surprised and his face was like a disappointment.

"What's up?"

"Lost!" the answer. "They're coordinates are missing from my tracking!"

"What?" I glare. Then immediately come to glance at the phone screen that displays the map. There is still one twinkling coordinate point, which is where we are today. While the point that was in the port now no longer exists, not moving anywhere but completely lost. I stared blankly and in disbelief. What the fuck? There are surprises in my life.

"Damn it, what's going on? gerutu Jan's. "Why did it suddenly just disappear, when I was sure there was nothing wrong with the data I entered."

Anxiously, my best friend was fiddling with the software in his phone. Doing a series of programs, loading, validation, restarting processes, and such. I can't wait for him myself.

Jan grunted in annoyance. He glared at the screen of his phone in great disbelief. I immediately understood what that meant. So I took a long breath full of annoyance.

"Maybe they already know" I said later. "It's possible, right? They already know they're being tracked. So they're engineering technology or something, to remove their signal from your radar, or satellite. So their whereabouts can't be detected."

"True, too" said Jan in a lethargic tone.

I'm speechless. This situation is difficult. It was never as smooth as I expected. There are always obstacles that test my patience. I'm getting more worried about Prof. Ranayuda Ram. I'm worried that something's going on with him. This whole thing is fucked up. I'm thinking hard. Suddenly I remembered something, which gave me a little relief.

"Jan," I said. "Hasn't their coordinates last seen at the port and not moving anywhere? And you said it was their base, right, meaning they must be there by now and not going anywhere anymore."

"Ah, you are too my friend" said Jan armed this time. His face immediately sparkled. "Hope you're right!"

"Then we must hurry back to that place now," I said.

"Come on!"

We immediately turned our bodies towards the alley which was the first way we came. However, as soon as our bodies turned around, suddenly our eyes caught four men in black suits with assault rifles standing suspiciously at the end of the alley. They went in and walked down the alley towards us. So without warning, my best friend and I spontaneously jumped to the side, in the opposite direction. We hid, languishing in the walls of the building. I'm at my place, Jan over there. We stared intently at those people. They look very strong, with a view that highlights and probes in various directions. Exactly, I believe they were part of the people who attacked us since at the port earlier. Shit too, why do they know we're here?

As those people got closer, my best friend and I took a closer look. Waiting for the right time to come out and ambush them. I alternately looked at Jan, and looked at those people. Seconds by seconds passed tensely. Jan and I reached into the bag, pulling out their weapons. The Glock 17 gun was in my grasp, while my eyes could not escape those people. Pay attention to every movement.

The four people continued to step closer. Now it's only a few meters from the base of the alley, where Jan and I are hiding. In a matter of seconds, I was already planning to go out and open fire and incapacitate those people.

The problem, beyond my expectations, is also that maybe Jan, suddenly appeared a little boy from behind me. The little boy sauntered past me, then turned into an alley where there were gunmen. I glared in shock. I was about to reach out to pull the little boy quickly, but my movements were held back by the sound of one of the people snapping.

"Hey, little boy, stay in place!"

The little boy was shocked and stopped from his steps. It was completely frozen in place this time. His face was terrified, his body was trembling, sweat was pouring all over. As I peeked, four rifles were pointed at his head. I glared and growled. What the fuck is that guy? Why would they want to harm a child who knows nothing.

"Hey, two people in hiding!" call one of them from their place. At once Jan and I looked at each other in surprise.

"Get you out of there soon" the man continued. "Or this little boy we're killing!"

My jaw hardened. This I can't let. For a moment I looked at Jan, gesturing to move out together. Jan nodded. Within seconds, we jumped out. And the next second we acted with a movement that was compact, agile and very fast.

In those tense moments, I moved to catch the little boy protecting his body while Jan fired two shots. The men responded by strafing us with their assault rifles. However, Jan and I had already moved agilely jumping back into hiding. And all of that happened in a matter of seconds. Now I'm holding the little boy, protecting him behind my body. He looked confused and still looked scared. I looked at him kindly and calmed him down, then asked him not to make a sound. He nodded with trembling.

Dorr! Dorr! A series of shots suddenly roared. I could see bullets ringing before my eyes. I looked at Jan, then gave her another gesture. Jan nodded in understanding. So when the roar of gunfire stopped, Jan jumped out and fired twice an accurate shot then as fast as lightning back into hiding. I heard screaming and grunting. Two of the four were helpless.
