After Two Decades

After Two Decades
You Don't Know

The wall was wide open. I could look inside, into a much darker room. I started researching. A few steps ahead of me, there was an iron chair. With the illumination, a man was seen sitting shackled in the chair. It's not wrong, it must be Prof. Ranayuda Ram.

"Prof. Ram!" I exclaimed with pleasure. Step straight up to that chair. Jan followed behind. I stepped in a hurry. So impatient to let go of this professor. So it is not aware of the shooting that targeted my head.

Dorr!

"Stop in your place!" yell someone from the side of the room. I actually stopped and pecked in place. The shot missed a few inches in front of my face. I can see a wall of hollow plank pierced by bullets, carrying a line of light from the outside. The hole created on the board was located parallel to my head. If I had stopped my steps too late, the bullet would have been lodged in my brain.

"Good, stay put!" said the mysterious man. His voice sounded heavy like the voice of an old man. Unfortunately, I couldn't see his figure because the room was very dark. I try to remember whose voice, like the voice of someone I know, but who? I turned my eyes towards the shooting. But free, the side of the room was too dark without any lighting. I looked back briefly, Jan was outside. When the gunfire sounded earlier, my best friend immediately jumped back. Get out of the secret room that has just entered a few steps. We were both confused in our positions.

I am very worried about this situation. I can't see where the opponent is. If it moved, it could have fired another shot that instantly paralyzed me. Besides, I was thinking, who exactly is this guy? This means that my guess was right. After our Nameless Old Man cleared up, there were still security forces left. A moment of thought and indignation myself, I lost my patience.

"Who are you?" I asked half a scream.

"You know me, Ren," replied the man. "You'll know if you see my face."

I grunt. Once again I felt like I recognized this voice. The voice of a stranger in my life. I started thinking strange things, which made me doubt myself about what I was not wrong. This is a crazy assumption. To think that this old man was someone close to me. Too improbable. I growled. Who her? Damn, I'm pissed at myself. I don't want to admit I've guessed who this old man is.

"Who are you?" I called out once more.

"All right, young man!" the old man replied casually. "You'll know."

After the old man finished speaking, suddenly the room turned bright. Electronic lights hanging on the wall and on the ceiling—that was when it was dark I saw nothing on the wall or any angle—one by one lit up the whole room. Making the glare of my eyes until I blinked for a moment.

My life was full of surprises, and I thought it was the most unexpected surprise of my entire life. As soon as I blinked, my eyes then looked across the room where an older man of more than half a century, oriental-faced with a thin mustache was standing defiantly while holding a Glock 24 pistol. Instantly it also immediately glared and exclaimed furiously I saw the body that yesterday old now looks fit. No kidding, a look of surprise, annoyance, and wonder chime in my face. I'm in disbelief. I can't believe who I saw. Are my eyes lying today? My jaw hardened, molars gritted, eyes staring sharply as sharp as a dagger. I can barely speak.

"Koh Shung?" I cried out with emotion.

The old man responded with an evil smile while lowering his gun. Henry Purnomo aka Koh Shung, that man who had left me half-shocked, now laughing triumphantly. While I was still flabbergasted in disbelief.

"What the fuck is this, Koh?" seruku again.

"That's what happened, young man." replied Koh Shung casually.

"You sent down an army to attack our lab, and kidnap Prof. Ram?" I wonder full of wonder.

"If so, why?" koh Shung Tuas.

"Why ... Why are you doing this? What's that supposed?" my many.

"What does that mean? Especially if not to destroy you," Koh Shung replied firmly.

"But, we've been partners for years, Koh. What made you do all this? Isn't it with the collapse of our company, it will bring great losses to your own company?"

Koh Shung chuckled.

"I also remember clearly" I said. "What did you say that night. You said that you wanted to stop donating capital to our time machine project, because the project had the potential to fail. And if this project fails, all parties involved will suffer massive losses, including your own. So why exactly do you want to make our project fail?"

"You'd understand if you were me, young man!" Koh Shung answered coldly.

"I really can't believe it" I said again. "That night, you spoke to me about the criminal numbers in this country that never go down no matter how advanced our country is. You say what the progress is for, if corruption and crime are still high. But look, Koh, it's you who donates the numbers and raises the criminal index itself. Look what you've done, a lot of lives have been lost. You're a criminal now."

"I have good reason to do it" I replied coldly.

"That's it," welcome Koh Shung. "A good reason to do it. I have good reason to do all this. So, think many times before you judge the actions of others, young man!"

"Whatever the reason, still can not be used as a justification for your actions!" my spoken.

"That's just the way people like you think, or whoever's out there feels they're good people. You won't understand until you feel what I feel."

"What's your goal, Koh?" I asked impatiently.

"To destroy you guys," Koh Shung replied firmly. "As much as you destroyed Jarilangit."

I glared again full of wonder. He exclaimed, "What does it have to do with you?"

"What's related?" Koh Shung repeated his cry in a louder voice. "The destruction of that company has ruined my life. And you're in charge of all that. Then you might ask what that has to do?"

"But I really don't know, Koh!"

"Oh, yeah. You don't know" cut Koh Shung directly. "You don't know anything, Renato. You don't know that the destruction of PT. Jaryangit has ruined my life without a remnant. And no one knows."

"Nh ...."

"You don't know, Renato. You didn't know that Sam Soetadji was an old friend of mine. Long time. You don't know, that one night, when PT. Jarilangit on the verge of falling, Sam came to see me personally. We talked a lot. He asked for my help. He wants me to help his company that's on the edge. He begged me to stop them. However, I refused carefully, considering the cooperative relationship between me and Korp. A long-standing masadepan. Without me knowing that the storm that hit the company, it was you. It's you, Renato. I refuse to help them, refuse to invest in them because I remember you. However, it turns out that you are destroying them slowly. I didn't know that at all."

I was surprised to hear that story.

"And you don't know, Renato. You don't know that because I refused Sam's request, he became disappointed and angry with me. We had a big fight that night. Our meeting ended with my friend becoming resentful of me. So hateful. He threatened me all sorts of things. I felt guilty, but I was also in a dilemma with my misplaced position. And you don't know either, Renato, at his peak, when it was finally PT. Jaryangit collapses, crumbles. Sam called me to deliver a threat."

I shake my head. I don't really know any of that. I saw Koh Shung start to ride his tone while telling stories. His voice was full of hatred and sadness.

"The destruction of his company has made Sam lose his mind and go crazy. His mentality was really shaken up amazingly. Do you know that, Renato? Sam Soetadji lost control of himself. He was frustrated and blamed everyone. He became vengeful and wanted to kill everyone he thought was responsible. Hatred and disillusionment have taken humanity away from him. All you know is, you're the main target. He has hired a hit man to kill you, despite his failure. But you don't know, Renato. You don't know that the next target of his anger is my family."

"Huh?"

"YOU DON'T KNOW THAT, RENATO!" Koh Shung shouted out loudly releasing his emotions, anger, and hatred into the air.

"Nh ...."

"You don't know, do you?" call Koh Shung again. "You don't know that Sam's hatred for me is severe. He sent a hit man to attack me and my family. Do you know what happened, Renato? Huh uh?"

I'm mumbling.

"In the attack, I survived. Not my children and my wife. They died horribly at the hands of the savage humans hired by Sam. Only a few of my closest friends knew about it. While the media crew, has been gagged to cover everything. That's where all the hate grew and developed in me."

I'm still tight-lipped.

"Do you know what it's like, Renato? Do you understand? HOWS IT? HUH UH?" Koh Shung snapped out in anger.
