"So we asked you once. Is the news true that you're married?" ask Mr. Hasan.
"Yes, sir." Finally, after a long period of pressure, Herman began to confess first. Moreover, he avoids if his lies are revealed through himself.
"Astaghfirullah ...." Everyone there was saying Istighfar after hearing Herman's confession. Nana herself was just silent and lowered her head with her eyes now starting to water. Everything has been revealed now, there is nothing else he needs to cover from the family.
While on one side, Yani felt a great rumble in her chest after hearing the confession from her husband. His eyes were ready to let out a clear liquid right now. She did not expect her husband and cousin to play with fire behind her. Ah, not just behind him, but their whole family including Dana. He thought that the actor was only in the story of flying fish and in the cities. But it turns out that here he experienced this until it felt very difficult he described.
Dana feels the same way. He shook his head not expecting that his beloved and dear wife had cheated behind him. Trying hard he slammed the bones to meet the life of his small family and had to hold his longing far apart from his wife and children.
Dana could have been looking for her inner satisfaction during her work in Kalimantan. The desire of men is stronger to be completed immediately especially for those who are married. However, Dana did not do this because she is responsible for loyalty. If Dana wants to channel her passion, she can do it herself without having to ask others for help.
Dana so upholds her loyalty and principles when away from the wife. The purpose of him migrating to Kalimantan is only to work to support his small family, not to find pleasure there even though far from the wife. That is the principle of Dana during her life working in Kalimantan.
Then what caused Nana to do something like this so she could have an affair with her own cousin's husband? Didn't Nana get the inner satisfaction during her time in Kalimantan? If it's true, Nana really is nothing more than a cheap woman, Dana thought.
"Son, can you call ustad Nico here. There is something we need to discuss with him," Mr. Hasan told Dika––suami Yani's newly married niece.
"Good, sir." Dika stood up and came out of the courtroom for Nana and Herman.
"May I see the evidence you showed me that night, Her?" ask Mr. Hasan.
Herman looked down and pulled his phone out of his pants pocket. "Sorry, Sir. The proof of the photo I deleted from yesterday."
"Why removed?"
"After I told him my confession that night, I immediately rushed to erase the evidence tomorrow" replied Herman honestly. He did remove the evidence of his wedding photos with Nana because he felt anxious. At least if people ask for the evidence, he will definitely dodge and say if the news spread is not true.
He should have been able to say such a thing before Mr. Hasan and their families who were present in this room. However, for some reason his heart seemed to choose honestly and admit what he did to them. Had he been convoluted, he would have been asked to have his friends who were witnesses that night come here and tell him the truth. If that happens, the worse the situation will be and outsiders will know the disgrace of their families.
"So it's true that you and Nana are married? Siri's wedding?" ask Mr. Hasan again. Herman nodded slowly.
"How long have you been married?"
"It's been two years, sir," replied Herman quietly.
Everyone there stroked their chests and shook their heads in disbelief if they had been in a relationship for that long. Dana and Yani close their eyes after learning of the bad news. Even Yani could not hold back her tears until they broke. They do not expect if their partner has been in a relationship for that long without making both of them suspicious.
"When what is Nana? Are you and Herman married?" Nana nodded slowly with a continued look down. The tears he held fell on the back of his hand which he placed on his lap. Regret now gnawed at his heart. He didn't know what to do but just shut up and kept his head down.
Why is it that every time we make a mistake, regret is always at the end? When they are in a relationship without people knowing, they are so relaxed living it as if what they live it does not matter.
"Know my father, this marriage that you are in is not legal. A woman who is still a wife cannot marry another person before she is divorced and ends the iddah period. But you do not want to give an explanation if not from someone who is an expert in the field of religion. We just wait for Dika to come with ustadz Nico," explained Mr. Hasan meant when he told Dika to call ustadz Nico.
Herman and Nana had known this explanation because they had been told by Muhlis before. But foolishly, they continue to continue their relationship and put aside the teachings that have been known.
After waiting for a few minutes, came the arrival of Dika and a 26-year-old man with a casual appearance, ustadz Nico. However, they did not come alone. Behind him was Muhlis who went inside.
"Assynnya!" say the three men who have just arrived.
"Getishalight."
"Let's sit here, son," said Mr. Hasan shifted his position slightly.
"How are you, sir?" tanya ustadz Nico kissed Mr. Hasan's hand.
"Thank God be good too, sir." Ustadz Nico sat on the floor next to Mr. Hasan. He looked at the people who were gathering and then looked back at Mr. Hasan.
"You're not busy anymore, are you?" ask Mr. Hasan.
"Of course not, sir. Just got home from buying baby stuff."
"How many months is your wife?"
"It's been six months." Mr. Hasan nodded.
"What's up, sir? Dika told me to come here because there is something to discuss," asked ustadz Nico.
"Look, son, we all want to ask about marriage whose status is still the status of another woman's wife. Polygamy in Islam is absolutely permissible. But what about polyandry? That's how the law is, son?"
"The law is clearly haram in Islam before the woman to be married has been divorced by her previous husband and finished the iddah period."
"In the Qur'an Surah An-Nisa verse 24 it is explained that :
It means: And (also forbade ye to marry) a married woman, except the handmaid of women (the prisoner of war) which ye have as God's decree upon you. And it is forbidden for you other than that (women) if you seek with your property to marry him not for adultery. Therefore, because of the pleasure that you have received from them, give their marriage to them as an obligation. But it is okay if it turns out that between you have let each other go, after being set. Verily, Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise."
"Explained in the above verse that reads
وَّالۡمُحۡصَنٰتُ مِنَ النِّسَآءِ اِلَّا مَا مَلَـكَتۡ اَيۡمَانُكُمۡۚ
“wal muhshanaat min al-nisaa' illa maa malakat aymaanukum” shows that one of the categories of women who are illegitimate by men is married women, who are married, which in the above verse is called al-muhshanaat."
All nodded in understanding hearing the explanation from Ustadz Nico.
"Look, son, Nana and Herman had a relationship without our knowledge. He said they've been married for two years" Mr. Hasan said.
"Astaghfirullah." Ustadz Nico shook his head and stared at the two of them before him.
"Regarding their marriage, is the marriage still invalid even though they are already bound?"
"Stay illegitimate, sir, and the fall is even the adultery they are living."
"Astaghfirullah ...."
"What about the ruler, guardians, and witnesses when marrying the two. Do they not know the law of marrying a couple if the status of the woman is still married?" ask ustadz Nico.
"We don't know, son. Only the two of them knew about it" replied Mr. Hasan pointing at Nana and Herman.
"I'm sorry, sir, I interrupted the conversation." Everyone immediately turned to Muhlis after the man interrupted.
"What's up, Lis?"
"Look .. I want to admit to you an honesty about Nana and Herman's marriage."
If it's wrong, please correct it. I read about this from Google.
