Entering the month of fasting, many people have prepared themselves to welcome the month of grace. Must be ready to carry out hunger, thirst, emotions, and speech in the holy month of Ramadan. Expand worship and ask for mercy to the almighty so that the fast we live later will always be our worship charity.
Like today, Herman drove Yani to the market for shopping for the fasting month that falls on tomorrow. Seen to have a lot of people who swarm in the market is not as usual. They all flocked shopping buying cooking needs preparing for the fasting month later.
"Not yet, Mom?" ask Herman to Yani. Because the man wanted to quickly go home because of the aches of walking around constantly from the morning while carrying some groceries in his hands.
"A little while, sir. This wants to buy cendol first the same seasoning banana cooking ijo," reply Yani who now stopped by at one of the stalls sellers of cooking spices.
After a few minutes around, Herman finally breathed a sigh of relief because all the groceries had been bought. From the start of fish, vegetables, iftar menu staples, to mukena and new cocoa clothes for their children who deliberately buy Yani to wear during tarawih prayers later.
"It's all, isn't it, Mom?" ask Herman to make sure that Yani does not forget his shopping.
Yani checks for a moment his belongings and nods at Herman. "It's all, sir."
Herman ran his white car and left a crowded market at 10 a.m. Herman and Yani were forced to shop in a market that was not from his village because the market schedule there was open on certain days, Wednesdays. Not every day the market in the village is always open because the traders always go around again to other village markets.
"Bu Ranti isn't here, Mom?" asked Herman to ask his mother-in-law who was still in Kalimantan.
"No idea, sir. After my father died, my mother stayed there. Maybe if there is an important event, he just came here" replied Yani. "What's the matter, sir?"
"No, your mother hasn't been here in a long time. Who knows if he wants Ramadan and Eid here, right?"
"Yes too, sir. Later in the afternoon I'll try to call her."
After a few minutes of travel, Herman and Yani finally arrive home and take their groceries out of the car.
"Where, Tan?" jolt someone behind Yani.
Yani. "Eh, you, Na. This is from the market. Shop for the month tomorrow."
"Well, auntie why not tell Irna if you want to go to the market? Kan Irna also wants to shop for fasting tomorrow," Irna protested a little upset.
"Hehe, I'm sorry, Na. Auntie forgot to tell you," Yani replied, feeling guilty.
"Yes, here let me help bring aunty groceries," said Irna approached Yani holding some large bags of crackle that are quite heavy.
"Thank you, Na."
Both walk up the stairs to enter Yani's house. Herman had already climbed up to bring some of the groceries he considered the heaviest to the house.
"Auntie buys anything? Kok looks like a lot," said Irna noticed her tantalizing groceries after putting them on the kitchen floor.
"Availability of fish, vegetables, the same menu is open, continue to mukena the same clothes koko children. Oh yeah, auntie also bought more bottles of syrup. Here's to you," replied Yani and handed a bottle of orange syrup to Irna.
"Well, thank you, Tan."
"Mom, you go to the office first huh," jolted Herman who had just returned from the room.
"Boyou want to work? Wasn't yesterday the road repair in the village xxx already done fixed?" ask Yani.
"No, you just want to stop by there with Muhlis. Mr. Boss was with the other colleagues at the gathering there," replied Herman.
"Oh, what time do you keep coming home?"
"Maybe afternoon. You see, the others want to make a small event for Mr. Boss' birthday today."
"Oh that, yasudah, sir. Be careful on the road."
"Yes!" Herman walked away with his white car keys. His truck was still tucked away in front of his house and shut down for a while until there was a project call.
"Tante has thought about the answer to Om Herman's decision to go to Kalimantan?" irna asked after seeing Herman leave.
"Yet, aunt has not given any answer to your Om. After all, Om you also do not ask for a hasty answer from aunt because the time to leave after Lebaran later," replied Yani.
...~~~...
In the office, Herman celebrated his birthday with his friends for Mr. Denis. The celebration they do only buy fish, spices, and rice to eat them. The plan is they will cook grilled fish for their lunch. And all of that was done by Mr. Denis himself.
"Hows it? A snack?" ask Denis to his men.
"Dong, Boss." Everyone was smiling happily while feeling their full stomachs.
Everyone there was silent and looked at each other. "Already, sir," replied one of them.
"How did you decide?" ask Mr. Denis again.
"I want to, sir. You see, I'm gonna need some extra money for the kids' school fees."
"Me too, sir! I talked to my wife and allowed it."
"I can't because my wife is 5 months pregnant."
The voices of Mr. Denis's men answered his Boss's questions. Many of them agreed to come. There are also those who cannot come because they are not given permission by their wives and there are also other things.
"For Deden's team, because the chairman could not take the job. Later if anyone wants to join can be replaced with another team that can not join," said Mr. Denis to team-mates Pak Deden.
"Have you talked to your wives?" ask Herman to his teammates.
"I have been and have been given permission by my wife" Badri replied.
"Other one?"
"I'm allowed, Her. Just a message from my wife to keep the faith there and health" replied Anto.
"I'm approved too."
"I can't because my wife is pregnant" someone repeated.
Herman caught three people who couldn't come. Then he looked at Muhlis. "How are you, Lis?"
"I have asked my wife, but still not given permission" replied Muhlis.
"So you didn't go with dong, Lis?" ask Badri.
Muhlis shrugged, indifferent. "Either, the time given until the end of Lebaran, right? So there's still time to be given permission."
Everyone immediately nodded in understanding.
"How are you, Her? Already given permission from Yani?" ask Muhlis.
Herman swallowed the saliva, silent for a moment. Until now, he still has not received an answer from Yani about his licensing. Herman also never discussed this with Yani because he was giving time for his wife to think first. If he forced Yani's answer, then, his wife would think negatively about why he was so persistent as to get her permission to Kalimantan.
"It's been, but he said wait until this leaflet to think," replied Herman.
"Well, what are you, Her! If as you are forbidden by your wife, we-we who have obtained permission how? Yesterday we did not go there," another jolt approved by his friends.
"Yes, I know. Taryo has not received permission from his wife. Had he and I not been given permission, no one would have gone there automatically because the chairman could not go" replied Herman. When he set the fish on fire, he spoke to Taryo asking about his decision to take on the project. And Taryo said he hasn't got permission to go there.
Herman's teammates were a little moody to hear their chairman's explanation. They hope that the income obtained from the toll road project in Kalimantan is useful for their families. Some want the cost of medical treatment for their families, for their children in school, and some want to open a small business at home. However, if their chairman is not given permission by his wife, they can do nothing but surrender to accept their chairman's decision.
"Later I try to persuade my wife so we can go there," said Herman who saw the look on the faces of his friends.
...~~~...
In the afternoon, Herman was on his way home after enjoying a small event at the office. After they had lunch with grilled fish, everyone decided to play a prize card, like gambling so. But the prize is nothing, really. Just a bath soap as a backup stock at home, not money.
Herman stopped by first to a stall on his way to his village. His throat suddenly felt dry so decided to buy drinking water first.
"Mom, buy this one." Herman showed a bottle that was taken out of the refrigerator and handed over 10 thousand to the seller.
After receiving his change, Herman turned around and was about to return to his car. However, his steps stopped when there was a motor that stopped next to his car.
Herman's body froze when he saw the figure driving the motorcycle next to his car. Likewise, the person who stopped in front of Herman looked at the man with a patterned look of surprise.
"Wana?!"
