Job Offers in Kalimantan (S2)

As the clock struck at 17:30 p.m., Herman and his friends rushed home after a grueling job. The road improvement project is almost complete and only the finishing stage is done tomorrow. After the road project is completed, Herman and the others will relax while waiting for the job call back from their superiors.

Herman went home in a truck with Muhlis. The two men went home together because they were unidirectional and lived in one village. Moreover, Muhlis motorbike was in use this morning to go to the city because it wanted to buy something there.

"Lis, I'd like to meet Mr. Boss for a while in the office" Herman said.

"Now?" ask Muhlis.

Muhlis nodded. "Yes, he called and invited me to meet. He said something important must be discussed through a meeting. Can't get on the phone he said."

Muhlis smirked confusedly looking at Herman. "What's so important, until Mr Boss tells you to come?"

"don't know. Mr. Boss said there was a big offer in Kalimantan. I also don't know why he would suddenly talk to me about it later."

Muhlis paused for a moment and thought of Herman's words. "Maybe you were offered a big project there the same Mr. Boss time, Her."

"Okay, I don't know either."

"But if that's true, would you accept the project?" ask Muhlis.

"I don't know, Lis. You know, I have to ask Yani for permission first" replied Herman.

Both of them were silent and focused on looking ahead. A few minutes later, Herman's truck reached their village and dropped Muhlis at the crossroads. After Muhlis thanked him, Herman continued his car towards his home.

Herman's truck was parked next to the front axle of his house and the driver got out of the car. The truck can not be put into the yard because there is a white car that also belongs to Herman parked there.

When Herman entered the house, only Nadia was busy playing her phone.

"Where's mom, Nad?" herman asked, unbuttoning his shirt.

"To my mother's house" replied Nadia. The mother in question is Mother Desi.

Herman picked up the towel and went downstairs preparing to take a shower. He had promised his boss that he would meet him after work. However, before that Herman had told his superiors first that he would be there soon after bathing.

After 15 minutes of bathing and having been dressed neatly ready to depart, Herman turned to Nadia. "Say the same mother if you go to the office first, yes. The boss is looking for the father again" he told his eldest daughter.

Nadia just nodded her head anyway keep playing her phone and let her father go. Herman got down from the house and got back in his truck to go to the office. He could have used that white car. However, because he did not want to bother to take out his car, it is better he chose a truck to take him away.

Herman had just arrived at the office where the workers used to gather. The office in question is not a high-rise building that we usually meet in the story or in the city. Rather it was just a simple house in a corner near a hill with a large empty lot. The empty land is used as a parking lot for truckloads and mixer trucks.

Herman entered the house which was now deserted, there was no one there. The house only has a spacious living room, bathroom, and 3 three rooms only. One of these rooms is used as a place for Mr. Boss for his work space. The other two are used as rest rooms for workers when they return from their work activities.

Herman pulled out a cell phone and called his boss to air his whereabouts.

"I'm out for a minute to buy some fritters. You just wait there, not long."

"Oh yes, Boss." Herman understood and turned off the connection.

After a few minutes, Herman heard the sound of the motor from the outside so that Herman who was sitting on the living room sofa stood up and checked out.

"I'm sorry, Her, it's made you wait. You buy fried food first," said Mr. Boss named Mr. Denis approached Herman while carrying a bag of crackle containing processed fried foods. A 54-year-old middle-aged man who becomes Herman's superior.

The two men stepped into a room that was used as a place for Mr. Denis workspace. The man, who was older than Herman, put his fried food on the table and sat in his big chair, while Herman sat in front of Mr. Denis' desk.

"Look, Her, I asked you to come here to invite you to work with one of my friends in Kalimantan who is building a toll road. He asked me to recruit our team to work there" Denis explained.

Herman nodded listening to Mr. Denis' explanation. His guess is indeed true if Mr. Denis will offer a big job in Kalimantan for him. Herman doesn't just work as a team that knows how to improve. However, the knowledge of Herman and his team has been experienced to make a big highway along with other teams.

"Why should I, sir? Why not Mr Deden or Taryo?" Mr. Deden and Taryo were like Herman who served as field worker supervisors. Mr. Denis has three groups that all work together as road infrastructure, namely Herman, Deden, and Taryo.

"Kalo Mr. Deden, he said he could not because he was old and reasoned he could not take care of himself there. If Taryo could, but he asked permission first with his wife. Therefore, if you and Taryo both want, you will tell your friends and send two of my teams to Kalimantan," explained Mr. Denis.
