“I said what I heard from the waiter, Big Mistress!”
“What now the job of the waiter is just gossiping? Huh! Remind the rules of this house if they have forgotten! I don't want to hear that shit anymore!” layla Serkan.
“Good Mistress! But, wouldn't it be better to ask Mr. Emir or Mrs Arimbi directly about the truth? Because the waiter who used to deliver food to the villa Mr. Emir said so. So maybe the news is true.” said Yaya again trying to convince Layla Serkan.
“Cih! Have you forgotten the Emir's condition? How could Arimbi be pregnant? Unless he did it with someone else! Women are shameless! I won't let her conceive another boy and bring him into this family!”
Yaya didn't say anything anymore. He just silently listened to Grandma Serkan's anger.
“Go there! Tell Arimbi to meet me!”
“Good big mistress! I will convey now.” said Yaya lowered her head a little as a sign of respect then she walked out of the reading room. Leaving Layla Serkan alone in the room.
‘The shame of that woman! I won't just shut up! Why does the Emir always defend Arimbi and he seems to spoil him. I need to find a way to separate them! I won't let her carry someone else's child and give Serkan's surname to her son!’ whispered heart Layla Serkan.
“Grandmother....” the sound of Elisha heard when the door of the reading room opened. Layla Serkan had not realized the presence of her favorite granddaughter because it dissolved in her mind.
“Grandpa! Is grandma okay?” Elisha touched her grandmother's shoulder so that she woke Layla Serkan from her daydream.
“Elisha! Ah, grandma didn't hear you come in here. What was? Sit here.” Layla Serkan shifted a little so that her grandson could sit next to her.
“I called grandma from earlier but grandma didn't answer! What is my grandmother thinking?”
“Nothing! Grandma is just a little tired.” replied Layla Serkan covering up the truth.
“Ehm....what does grandma think about Arimbi?” elisha asked, tilting his head in his eyes.
“You mean?”
“I also heard the conversation of the waiter in the back! She said Arimbi was pregnant! That's great, grandma.” Elisha sounded enthusiastic and happy. “Now I'll have a nephew!”
“Huh! I don't know who the baby's father is!”
“Grandmother..why does grandma talk like that? It's definitely his son Emir.”
“Elisha! You forgot that your brother had a dysfunctional problem from an accident?”
The beautiful girl did not accept the words of her grandmother, she loved Emir very much and she also liked Arimbi because she saw the sincerity of her brother-in-law.
“Everybody is too stupid to believe that obscure rumor! I know the Emir is normal! I heard he was talking to Doctor Sam back then! He just pretended to agree to the rumor! It turns out to be true, as soon as the rumors died everyone stayed away from him! Even all the women who used to chase him were lost somewhere.” said Elisha then quickly covered his mouth with both hands.
Layla Serkan looked at Elisha furrowing her brows, trying to repeat her grandson's words. “You said Emir is normal? Who told you that?” ask Layla Serkan.
“Ah, grandma....hehe...I'm just kidding.” Elisha feels guilty for accidentally exposing his brother's secret that only he knows.
“Elisha! How dare you lie to your grandmother? Tell me the truth?”
“Nek---don't get angry first! Ouch....” Elisha patted his forehead, annoyed at himself for his free speech. What will the Emir do to him for accidentally uncovering the secret that has been kept in a meeting?
“Don't--don't grandma! Yes..I talk!” Elisha took a deep breath. “But grandma has to promise first don't tell Emir that I said it!”
“Quick say!” Layla Serkan stared intently at her beloved granddaughter. Can her granddaughter lie to her?
“Sse-actually the Emir has no problem! He's a normal guy. But after the accident, I don't know who started spreading rumo about his dysfunction. At first the Emir wanted to confirm but after he saw how the people changed and stayed away from him so he decided to let the rumors circulate and never deny it.”
Elisha explained as he looked at Layla Serkan's face to see her expression. The old woman's eyes were straight ahead and sharp. There was a flash of emotion in his eyes, his hand tightly grasping his wooden stick.
Elisha was relieved that he was finally able to tell the truth, ‘Fuuuhhhhh! May the Emir not scold me for telling the real grandmother.’
‘I was very happy when I heard that Arimbi was pregnant. I'll have a niece, but my mother and grandmother keep trying to get Arimbi out of this family. Why don't they think that one day I too will get married and become part of another family? Could what Arimbi experienced also happen to me?’ whispered heart.
“How many months has it been?”
“Heh? Mean grandma?” asked Elisha who was awakened from his daydream.
“How many months has she been pregnant?”
“Oh, if not mistaken it's been four weeks. It's four weeks, I have his picture.” Elisha took something from his wallet.
The USG photo he asked Arimbi to keep as a collection, then he handed it to his grandmother. “This is USG photos - the latest. Yesterday I asked Arimbi for my collection. Grandma I'm so happy, I'll have a niece!” pekik Elisha smiled widely.
Layla Serkan took a photo of the USG from her grandson's hand and held it with trembling hands.
“What is your brother asking you to lie to?”
“Grandpa! I'm sorry!”
“Hmm! You dare lie to me!”
“This is not the Emir's fault! Let alone others, even our own families treated him differently since the accident. Hence the Emir chose to let the rumors circulate all this time. So be able to see people who are sincere and who are not! But about Arimbi, he doesn't know anything. Grandma don't blame him! All this time he took good care of the Emir.”
“Why do you always defend that woman? Does the kid really belong to your brother?”
“She is a good woman! Grandma, can't you see how happy the Emir has been since Arimbi's presence? He is serious about undergoing his therapy and see how the company is also eager to reap profits in one month because the Emir is excited.”
Layla Serkan did not respond to Elisha's words, he looked at the USG photo in his hand. I don't know what the old woman was thinking even Elisha had trouble understanding her face expression and her grandmother's eyes.
‘Is this really a candidate for Emir's son? So all this time my granddaughter was normal?’ layla Serkan's mood raged.
The old woman subconsciously touched her chest, a speck of tears falling. He used to focus too much on educating Emir menhadi heirs. He did succeed but his compassionless upbringing made the Emir a cold and ruthless figure.
