I Will Be The New Me

I Will Be The New Me
CHAPTRE 18

Evan glanced at the teacup that only had half a glass left on the table. The man began to suspect. He also brought the tea cup to the kitchen to check for himself whether there was a drug reaction contained in the tea. Although not great, Evan has a little basic knowledge about medicine.

"There was no reaction. This is ordinary tea, maybe the Grand Duke is indeed exhausted. He was old and had no successor that could detract from his work." Evan doesn't want to hurt Bastien, he's only given the job of watching Quinn's suspicious moves.

Unfortunately the experienced man was successfully tricked by the untalented seventeen-year-old girl and strangely suddenly became smarter after rising from his first death. Quinn did not mix it but simply put the sleeping pills on the lips of the cup, avoiding the obvious way and it is common for most criminals to do.

His grandfather was right-handed dominant, so Quinn just smeared on one side right where Bastien would drink it. Not a single trace will be left behind because it has been erased by Bastien's own lips. Quinn knew who he was dealing with.

Quinn was in front of the house and ready to leave. He had asked the coachman to prepare his carriage. Evan, who was passing through the hallway, was surprised to see Quinn waiting for the carriage from the window, he extended his steps and immediately came to Quinn as Bastien's representative.

"Your Majesty, where are you going? it's night." remember Evan because it's dark and Quinn doesn't usually move outside the Lombardy's palace at night.

Quinn innocently replied, "I want to pray to the temple. I had a dream last night of motherhood, so I intend to ask God to keep my mother in heaven." Quinn pointed her index finger in the air, "Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Looks like I'll be home late, I should stop by first. Killian's going to the academy again tomorrow." Quinn did not cover all his goals at all, he openly told all the places he would visit except one.

Evan could not comment much, "Should I ask one of the Knights to accompany you?" the bargain is certainly recommending someone under his watch. "No, I'll be fine. Besides, I'm not going through a lonely road." Quinn's destination is just a big road.

"Well if you say so." Evan secretly coded each other through a look with the coachman who was apparently Quinn's actual delivery letter addressed to Izeqiel to Raiden.

"Then I'll leave now."

The temple will be closed to the public at around eight p.m. An hour before Quinn had reached the coachman who followed him to the front of the temple building. "I'll pray for a moment, wait for me here. I won't be long."

"Okay, Your Majesty."

Quinn went inside to pray, it's a pity that tonight he didn't take God seriously. After the coachman finished making sure Quinn was really solemn in prayer, he returned outside the parish and waited in front of the temple. Savero's eldest son slipped out into the inner garden of the temple, where Christian promised to wait for his arrival.

And sure enough, Christian was sitting in the long chair of the park talking to his playmate, Finn Han Blackbird. "Oh, he's coming." Finn said as he waved to Quinn, "Lady, you're a little late, is there a problem?"

"Not really. I just want to make the coachman believe that I'm actually praying." Quinn was surprised by his own words, he looked at Christian awkwardly. "I'm sorry, for my bad attitude, Pastor."

"You don't need to apologize, Your Majesty" Christian replied casually. In any case, praying solemnly or not is the right of each that needs to be accounted for by the perpetrator.

Quinn sat in the middle of two young men with very inversely proportional personalities. Finn massaged his neck which felt a bit sore, "Lady, so have you sent Christ a letter before? I just heard from him." Finn seems unwilling Quinn only ever sent a letter with Christian even though Finn is closer and more familiar with Quinn.

"Yes, I used a letter-sending bird to come."

"When?"

"Yesterday night."

"Huh?" one of Finn's eyebrows shot up upon seeing Quinn's satisfied smile. Why is he smiling like that? thought Finn was astonished.

"So, what is your decision regarding my request, Pastor? I'm not asking for grandiose."

"What's? what request do you mean?" finn always asked for a conversation that he could not follow. In this way Finn became curious about the contents of the letter Quinn wrote. "You want to get Christian to work with you? hey, don't poison him with your cunning plan. He's a very innocent kid, he doesn't even know how to kill flies." Finn's cerocos is rewarded with a murderous look from Quinn. "Don't interfere." he said.

Christian smiled faintly in response to Finn's babbling. "I think eliminating flies is hard for some humans." Christian then gives Quinn a pill according to what he asks. "You have indeed chosen the right plant, Your Majesty. Rosemary plant can indeed overcome digestive diseases. But, I can't help you in making rosemary extract in your factory."

"Yes, I can't force you. You're the high priest here, making medicine is just a side job" Quinn took out a fat black bag full of gold coins. "I told you I'd pay for your services. You need this for your sisters, don't you?".

Christian and Finn were silent. The fact that they grew up in an orphanage couldn't possibly be covered up forever, but hearing about it from Quinn was a bit different. "I'm surprised you know about us."

"Not intentionally. I saw the sheet Grandpa read."

"Oh so your grandfather investigated me?"

"That's why I said it was thanks to me that you were accepted to work in Lombardy. How could grandfather be willing to accept people whose origins are unclear."

"Sad." Finn grieves exasperatedly by Quinn's way of speaking as if to say that he is like a living creature.

Quinn glanced at Christian through the corner of his eye, drawn by a doubt. "Thank you. I'll add it again if you want to teach my students how to extract the plant. It's just a short lesson, he's smart. His memory is very good."

"That's..."

"I'll have my students come while you're off duty here."

Finn was too surprised to be able to speak. Quinn in his eyes was no longer a sweet, gentle and kind girl anymore. I don't know why Quinn's stratagem made her have the same aura that Raiden showed. A vengeful person who wants to control everything. "How far has he made his plans?" Finn wondered as he watched Quinn's late-goal au face.

"alright. The rest of the medicine will be sent tomorrow to your place, Your Majesty."

Quinn nodded lightly. "Alright, I won't divulge your identity." Quinn pocketed the pill, and stood facing the two young men. "Oh yes, Pastor. I heard the Great Priestess received the Word of God this morning."

"...?!"

Christian's pupils shrank, his body unable to move after his nerves went into shock. Finn glared in shock, he didn't hear any gossip out here at all. Finn observed the change in his best friend's expression. "So there really is?"

Christian laughed crisply to divert the conversation, "A-ahaha it seems like the gossip spreader has misunderstood something. The Great Priestess did pray at the Holy Pool of Santis to ask for mercy, soon to enter the dry season, he only prayed that the Gods help the farmers not to suffer great losses like last year."

The Great Priestess will only occasionally go soaking and pray in the middle of the Sacred Pool of Santis which is in a special temple building where the room every night bathed in moonlight. That particular time will only come when the Great Priestess feels there will be the Word of God coming down or to pray when disaster begins to show signs.

"Is that?" Quinn is one of the faithful in this Santis temple. Quinn was an important member of the church, though he did not choose to focus on the gods and became a priest in the temple of Santis.

Quinn just remembered there were two words coming down. The first is a warning about the impending disaster in the country. While the second, Quinn did not hear directly because the temple hid the truth of the contents of the Word of God so as not to make a noise. However, some say that the second Word is related to the destruction of the Ethereal Kingdom.

Quinn did not know whether the Word that came down the second actually happened or not because he was dead first before he had felt how this country after Raiden officially became King.

Finn soon learns that the pill Quinn requested from Christian will surely be given to the coachman who in fact is a Raiden spy. "Of course, I'll get it. Let's go in."

Five minutes later Quinn came out with two small bottles of holy water that would normally be distributed by the priest after the faithful had finished praying. "Sorry, I'm old. Here, master coachman, I ask for two holy waters." Quinn gave one to him. "I also pray that you will always be healthy so that you can do your job well."

"Thank you, Your Majesty. I'll drink it later," the twenty-five-year-old man picked up hesitantly the water bottle. "Where will you go next?" ask her.

"I want to go home to Dad for a minute. Please deliver it."

"Okay, Your Majesty."

The driver did not drink it immediately because he himself was not feeling thirsty or anything like that. He spurred his horse to shorten the time during the trip.

Arriving at the Shuvillian mansion, Quinn did not enter immediately. He just waited in front of the door with his hands raised, hesitatingly knocking on the door of his own house. "I feel like knocking on my own door? it's ridiculous."

Tok tok tok tok tok tok

Vanna was close to the door. He just changed the window curtain in the hallway and will wash it tomorrow. "Is anyone visiting?" he quickly opened the door for the guest. His eyes were round in shock when he saw the guest who came was not someone else but his own master. "Lady..." Vanna glazed over looking at the healthy and fresh Quinn.

"Hello, Vanna. Sorry to interrupt nights like this."

"Lady! I miss you." Vanna dropped the heavy curtain onto the floor and immediately hugged Quinn's body tightly. "You don't know how quiet this house is without you in it."

"Yes, I miss you too" she replied simply. "Where's Killian? is he asleep? I came here to see him."

Vanna knew right away that Quinn wanted to see her sister to give her a gift so she could take her sister to the dormitory. "He was studying in the study with His Holiness Savero, Lady."

"Can you call him here? I'll wait here. Ah, don't say my name."

"Good..." Vanna looked confused but she immediately obeyed Quinn's orders and ran into the study.

At that time Savero was drafting and signing a letter of cooperation with his partners. Killian is being trained by Savero by helping him assess which cooperation is profitable and which business will last longer.

Savero raised his pen, "What's up, Vanna?" the man first saw the arrival of one of his house servants. "Sorry, Your Honor. There's someone who wants to meet His Highness Killian."

The big-eyed, beautiful young man raised his head, "With me? who?"

"You'd better see for yourself, Your Majesty."

Killian looked at her father for permission, Sirena's husband nodding his head. Killian left the room immediately, her curiosity peaking even though for a moment she had kept a name in her brain.

When he got to the door Killian immediately circulated his gaze throughout the courtyard and found someone sitting on the steps. "..."- ".

"Hi, Killian. How are you?" Quinn stood up to greet the arrival of the youngest brother with a gentle smile.

The last time I saw Quinn dressed up as their mother made Killian stiff and didn't know how to behave in front of her brother. As a result, he just stood in front of the door of the house.

How else, Quinn who had to give up and get closer in order to chat comfortably.

He's getting taller again, this kid's growing up so fast.

"I heard you're going back to the dorm tomorrow. Have you prepared everything? let no one be left behind."

"I'm not a child. You don't have to remind me. Is that the only reason you came here? waste of time." cynical.

"Can't visit the biological family by yourself?" Quinn then pulled out a handkerchief with the name of Killian embroidered pretty in one corner. Not only that, Quinn also prepared a bottle of ginseng tonic and a hanging ornament for Killian's sword. "I can only prepare for this. Accept it."

Killian was silent. Quinn knew Killian would get even colder after finding out Quinn dared to go against him. "This may be the last time I give you a gift. No one knows how long we'll live, do we? accept it. I'll leave after you receive it. It's not poison."

Quinn forced her sister to take all the things in her hand. "I'll go now. I want to send my regards to Dad."

"You don't have to bother giving this to me."

"This is my love for you. See you soon."

As soon as Quinn had boarded his chariot, Savero emerged from behind the door staring at his daughter's footsteps. "She won't even see me." she slid alone before patting Killian on the shoulder. "What's the prize this time?"

"It."

"He didn't intend to come in and talk inside?" Vanna shook her head regretfully, "Lady doesn't want to, Your Majesty. He said he was in a hurry."

Quinn was talking to his coachman. "Your Majesty, it's time for you to go home."

"I still have one more place to go, sir."

The man's face changed, "Where else do you want to go?"

Quinn smiled widely as he replied, "I want to see Izek at the Marquess Sylvestria residence." the man who was assigned to be a spy stiffened in shock, he seemed to want to immediately report the news to Raiden. "All right, Your Majesty."

"Thank you, sir."

As soon as Quinn entered, Quinn stared intently at the coachman's back, which was visible from the small glass inside the carriage.

"Ready, Finn. He's gonna move."
