Chirp.
"Ungh.." a small sigh rang out from Quinn's lips. The squeals of the little birds perched on the balcony of his room slowly woke the girl from dreamland.
Quinn opened her eyelids slowly while trying to adjust the light that entered her room. "My body is still so sore, it seems like last night I was expending too much energy," his inner self inwardly.
His eyes glanced at the chair next to his bed. There was Savero who was asleep in a sitting position, his shirt was still a mess. It seems that Savero did not leave Quinn alone until morning came.
"Oh no!" Quinn sat up with a movement that could be said not slow until it managed to wake Savero. The man bought in shock, his eye bags were clear, "You're awake? how are you doing?"
Quinn smiled faintly "I'm fine. Sorry to surprise you, Dad."
"I'll call you—"
"Wait a minute, Dad."
Savero turned his head around to look at Quinn again. "Is there anything you need?" ask her who thought Quinn wanted to ask for something.
"How was last night's party? did Raiden find the culprit?"
Savero grunted softly. This kid never thinks of taking a break, Savero thought. "Yes, he's already punishing her."
"Who did it?"
"Baroness Viridescens."
"What?" Quinn's on the spot. How could Raiden bestow his guilt on others?
"Don't think of anything heavy like that. I'll call the waiter to help you get ready. I'll be home for a minute."
He looks very tired
"Yes, thank you for helping me."
Quinn walked towards the balcony of the room to breathe some fresh air this morning. The atmosphere felt calmer in the Lombard residence.
"I still didn't expect Raiden to pass the suspect to the Baroness. Oh, I just remembered.so that's why Raiden let the Viridescens Baroness get away with it, it turns out that he wanted to use it as a mash-up. Means Raiden's been planning my murder all day."
Quinn's initial intention of putting Vincent's emblem there was for Raiden to use his uncle as a shield. If not, Quinn wants to outwit Raiden by making him think that Vincent has disrupted his plans.
Quinn bit her index finger nail "She still intends to protect Uncle's family. Heh! I think he's gonna think I'm jealous and want to get rid of Penelope in a vile way."
But good, Raiden will definitely protect me from charges. For now, how am I supposed to come back to the forest behind the palace? the spirit is there.
A few minutes later Quinn's door opened again and revealed Emily's figure with a basin to wash her face. "Your Majesty, your breakfast will soon be ready. Let me help wipe your body."
"All right."
Quinn sat down at her dressing table and let Emily do her duty as her personal servant. The ginger-red haired girl looked at the reflection of Quinn's face in the mirror, "Your Majesty, are you feeling healthier already? last night you really made Count Shuvilillian worry."
"Worry? she?"
Emily nodded pityfully, "You may not be aware. Last night your sleep disturbance returned again, You do not want to stay in bed and almost jump from the balcony of the room. It's a good thing that Count Shuvillian came and saved you. You kept crying all night. You also have a high fever." Emily told me everything that happened that night when Quinn completely fainted from exhaustion.
"He's been waiting here all night?"
"That's right, Your Majesty. Count Savero didn't move a single inch from that chair, he just started to fall asleep when I came to open your room window."
Quinn was silent no longer continuing their discussion. He had already been quite disappointed by his biological family's attitude towards him in the past.
"Ah right too. Lord Killian also came here last night after hearing you were attacked."
Quinn laughed at Emily's words. "Don't use a sentence as if he cares for me, it's laughable. She must have blamed me and asked about Penelope, she cares more about her cousin than her own sister."
Emily couldn't argue anymore because just like Quinn said, Killian did. "Lord Killian left something for you in the nightstand drawer, Your Majesty."
"Please get it."
"Good."
Killian gave a very shiny ring, he would change color every time he was struck by light from different sides. The ring is entirely made of gem so as to produce a beautiful color like aurora in the Antarctic sky. "He gave me this?" Quinn seemed incredulous at the little attention Killian gave her.
{This is a ring containing magic, Quinn. Hm, when viewed from the structure, the magic can turn into a shield for you.}
Vynx appears as soon as Quinn wonders why the ring is sparkling endlessly. The water spirit sat on Quinn's right shoulder while watching Quinn's sister's gift ring.
{One great. The magic is stable even though you've been shaking ever since. What is a gift from a witch?}
Receiving a little of Killian's attention has made Quinn uncomfortable. That guy deserves to be a bitch.
"No. It's a gift from sister— I mean from Count Savero's son." Quinn massaged the back of his neck which felt stiff. He looked up at Emily standing behind him, "Emily, can you please get me some warm water? I think I want to soak my feet."
"Okay, I'll get you, Your Majesty."
"Vynxes. You saw the spirit that night, didn't you? do you know where he's running? he immediately went scared when I made you into two sword blades."
Vynx nodded her head in response to Quinn's question.
{He is indeed a very timid spirit. He knew you could see it, so he went straight into hiding. I'm sure he's hiding in an elk tree at the end of a cliff. That's where he lives.}
"I just found out there's an elk tree there. Is it far from where I was attacked? I have to make a contract with him too."
{He's easy to persuade, you just need to bring something for him.}
"What?"
{She really likes to eat purple lily flower petals. Bring the freshest for him, he will definitely immediately lower his guard when he is near you. But it's good that you don't go there now, the forest is being guarded by the Knights of the palace.}
"Thank you for reminding me. For now I have to go see Penelope, I need the rest of the paperwork from her."
Before Emily returned, Quinn had already escaped from the room. Of course Quinn had already checked that Evan was neither in Bastien's study nor at the door.
The princess of Savero got out of the Lombard court yard safely and went to the Shuvillian residence using the services of a horse-drawn carriage. The square remained crowded as usual, but they completely stayed away from the roundabout there. "What's wrong?" Quinn wondered while observing the citizens who continued to throw their faces away.
He immediately knew as soon as the carriage he was riding passed through the roundabout in the town square. Quinn widened in shock, she covered her mouth with both palms, "I-it..."
A disembodied head hung on the tip of the spear mounted there. Blood was still pouring into the handle of the spear, ravens were flying over it. "That's Baroness Viridescens..!"
Raiden's gone completely crazy. What did he gain by killing a clearly innocent person?!
Quinn's goal now is to investigate the irregularities of a wartime case involving Vincent. In other words, Quinn wants to sue Vincent in court along with his plotters who have harmed the state.
Now Quinn's been collecting evidence at least sixty percent. At the moment Quinn only needs the rest of the documents Penelope brought. "Hopefully Mr. Gray could have obtained a wartime filing letter fifteen years ago. With the letter, I can complete the first requirement of court filing. The rest just need to find witnesses."
The reason behind placing the emblem on the Knight messenger Raiden is for the sake of incriminating the case of Vincent who became an 'attempted murder of family members' directly related to Quinn. If Quinn were to sue, it would be very striking. Quinn made a plea with the reason that his life was at risk.
In addition, Raiden will definitely make it harder for Quinn to achieve her goal. All attempts may fail if the submission data is suspected. "Where am I going to find a witness?" quinn muttered while tapping on the eel.
A few minutes after that Quinn had arrived in front of the Shuvillian mansion.
The atmosphere in his house did not change much, but it was somewhat quieter than usual. Though there is Penelope there who always managed to liven up the atmosphere.
"Welcome, Lady Quinn!! it's been a long time since you've returned, I've missed you so much." Vanna and a few other servants welcomed the arrival of their host who had not stopped by for a long time.
"Is Penelope home?"
"Yes? ah, ja. He's been in his room since last night."
Their expressions turned into worries. Quinn frowned, "What happened to her?" quinn had to ask about Penelope.
"Since last night he kept himself locked up and said that he was not feeling well, but he did not let anyone inside" Vanna replied anxiously.
"Let me handle it. Give me the scuff-treating ointment."
"Yes, I'll get it right now."
Sure enough they said, Penelope had no intention of opening her mouth at all despite hearing the sound of the door trying to be opened. "Tck. He's this if he doesn't act it's definitely a hassle."
Quinn unlocks the door without a key but with the power of Vynx. Once it opened, Quinn would not let anyone inside except her.
"Uncle Vincent hit you again?"
Quinn was surprised to see Penelope lying on her stomach, leaving her innocent back exposed, displaying a large number of new lash marks. Quinn thought that was the reason Penelope would not let anyone serve her because she currently prefers not to wear a single piece of cloth to wrap her upper body.
"Why did you come here?"
"Why? as promised, I came to get the rest of the files."
"Take it in that cupboard, under my pile of shawls."
Quinn placed the ointment on the table to retrieve the file that Penelope had brought before coming to Helldelune. "What's going on? why did Uncle whip you that much?" quinn asked who did not take his eyes off the documents in hand, he continued to analyze the contents.
Penelope clucked in annoyance, "It's all because of your fault, you know! Dad's mad at me because I didn't manage to spend time at the party with Raiden."
Quinn sat on the sofa room, he just stared at Penelope at a glance, "Oh, so?" his response was cold and uncaring. The black-covered beautiful girl flipped the paper, "Don't I help you so you can dance with Raiden? I even had to implicate Izek, why do you still not know yourself by blaming me?" Quinn asked flatly, not angry but also displeased at Penelope's remark.
"Yes. I was alone with him on the balcony, but it still made Dad angry! I hate him!" Penelope sits on the guest bed. "That's all because Dad saw you and Raiden go into the same guest room!" Penelope raised her voice. He feels betrayed.
Quinn stiffened for a moment, he raised his face. After Penelope mentioned it, Quinn just remembered the embarrassing incident last night. "Uncle saw it? then he should have known that it wasn't me who invited the Crown Prince to enter the same room as me. Didn't he talk to you on the balcony? why don't you hold him?"
"He looked very dizzy, so I let him rest. But I didn't know she was going to be with you! hey, tell me, did you spend the night with him?!"
Quinn plotted both of her eyeballs, why would she want to spend the night with a psycho like Raiden? "You crazy? you heard about my assault last night, didn't you?" Quinn fiddled with some of the contents in the file.
Penelope glanced at Quinn, watching him from top to bottom. "Why can you walk around freely if you're actually hurt?"
"I'm hurt, but you don't have to think about my wounds. I'm not as weak as you."
"Basan sucks," Penelope smeared the ointment on several places she could reach out to herself, whimpering occasionally withholding pain. "You really didn't do anything with Raiden?"
Quinn placed the document on the table, then looked at Penelope with a ignorant grin, "Why don't you ask Uncle? maybe he saw and heard everything I did in there."
"Quinn! don't mess around!"
"Well, I told you from the beginning. Raiden doesn't like you, he's doing good to you to make me angry. Why do you feel cheated on?"
"...."
Quinn was lazy to talk about Raiden on this sunny morning. He decided to ask something else. "Have you never seen your father bring his business partner home or anything?"
Penelope shook her head steadily, apparently to answer Quinn's question this she didn't need to try to remember first because it was out of her head. "No. He is the one who always comes out and will only come back at night. Ah, I once saw Dad come home covered in blood, he asked Ben to burn it. I don't know if he got into a fight or got hurt."
"The fight? does Uncle often fight with people?"
"Every time Dad gets drunk, everyone in the house who dares to call him will end up dying. I was thinking maybe Dad was celebrating his success by drinking with other friends, so he came home with a lot of blood."
"Hm, so yes. Did Uncle ever take a kid in his car?"
"Eitherway. I didn't notice the whole vile old man's activities. I've only heard that you used to do charity work for the people of Verenity."
"Thank you for helping me this far," Quinn took out Killian's ring box to Penelope, "I gave this to you just in case, and this too. I got the holy water from the temple this morning."
Penelope tied her eyebrows together as she received Quinn's gift, "Why did you give it to me?"
Quinn gave a condescending look after hearing Penelope's tone that seemed to still consider herself as innocent and stupid as before. Quinn pointed in front of Penelope's pretty face, "You don't deserve a reward more than this. Did you forget that I didn't like you at all? We're just using each other, there's no point in us acting like brothers."
"Sad. Your talk is so sharp. I never liked you before either. If I didn't need you to get Dad out of my life, I wouldn't want to talk to you."
"You think I'd do it? never mind. I'm going to go now."
Quinn grinned after turning her back to Penelope. "I'm not only going to get rid of Uncle, but you're going to come with him."
When he returned home, Quinn was again confused by the group of people who surrounded Santis temple. They seemed to be calling for something. Curious, Quinn chose to get off the train and join the crowd, "Excuse me, what is going on? why are people gathering here?" quinn asked a man who was standing at the very back there.
"You didn't hear? The word of God has come down! We all want to hear it. Didn't the temple promise to be transparent to its people? but since yesterday they've been avoiding."
God's Word? why come down so fast? there's a change happening!
Quinn saw one of the priests taking care of the citizens. He said that as soon as they succeeded in deciphering the Word in its entirety, the temple would immediately inform the public.
Quinn stroked his chin while thinking, "The Word of God has always been accepted by the Great Priests. The number of Great Priests in this temple is six people, one of them is the Pastor Christian represents."
Of course I have to see him. But I have to take the documents home first.
"Well, now..what am I supposed to say to persuade Christian huh?"
