Marry The Heir

Marry The Heir
Marketplaces

The morning market was quite hectic. Each seller is competing to offer his merchandise, shouting at each other.

“The redhead is ma'am, mumpung again cheap. In others expensive.”

“Fresh fish, freshly taken directly from the sea. Fishnya neng.” bargain a fishmonger on Disa.

Disa just shook her head and followed Meri's steps.

There were two big ripples that Damar brought behind Disa and Meri. But it seems like what they will buy is not all they get.

“That's the weird spices that are in your recipe book right there.” point Meri at a grocery store.

“Iya tan, let's go there.”

Disa and Meri immediately headed to the place. Damar who followed from behind could only grumble indistinctly with his upset face. I don't know how many more bags he should bring later.

“Nih you inhale the fragrance, each spice different fragrance and put it into cooking.” Meri put some kind of seasoning in Disa's hands.

“Iya tan.” Disa began to smell the various spices that were in his hands. It's very different. His brain began to spin to remember the fragrance of each spice offered Meri.

“Gaya lo nyiumin european seasoning, galangal same ginger already can lo bedain not smell the same shape?” ledek Damar who leaned his body on the store pole. Looks like he was quite tired following the steps of the 2 women.

“Tau! Here's ginger! New galangal!” Disa showed the 2 objects alternately to Damar.

“Other memorials!” cetus as it passes.

Disa only sniffed annoyed once and then returned to smell the spices shown by Meri.

From a distance, Damar watched Disa and Meri. The interaction of the two looks close like never before. Apparently true, shopping can bring two people who always whistle tense.

What is more concerning Damar is Disa. He smiled to himself as his round eyes sparkled in the mix with a sweet smile that he had not seen for a very long time. He rubbed his own chest which suddenly thumped fiercely looking at Disa's smile.

Grateful Disa still has a reason to go home so they can meet again. In the future, maybe Damar who must find a reason to be able to meet Disa who lives behind the high fence of the luxury house.

*****

After shopping with Disa and Meri rushed home. During the trip Meri told me a lot about her experience cooking. Damar who saw from the rearview middle of the taxi, could only smile faintly at the interaction of Disa and her mother.

Apparently, shopping at the market and talking about cooking can be a unifier for these two women. Damar had to take the two women shopping.

“Huuh...” roar Damar upon arrival at home.

He put the groceries on the dining table and then went to the sofa and dropped his body there. He fanned his body with the t-shirt he used and occasionally blew it.

His face was red, probably from the heat.

“Nih, thanks yes.” Can poking Damar a glass of cold water.

Damar took out the water that Disa was thrusting without taking his eyes off the flaming television. He sipped it up the toilet.

Can returned to the kitchen and began arranging food with Meri.

“Tante shower first yes, dry smell.” said Meri who smelled her body smell a little sour.

“Iya tan.”

Disa sat back on the chair and began to set aside some of the ingredients that she would cook.

“Lo be an impromptu chef in that big house?” ask Damar from his place.

“Gue waitress at home son master big.” timpal Disa who started peeling onions.

“Why should the cooking course all the same nyokap? You can use the service order between.”

“That's the name buries potential alias males.” timpal Disa. He noticed his older cousin who was still changing the television channel he was watching. “Since when do you care the same I sell?” tanyanya.

Damar just screeched, he did not intend to chim in with the sentence Disa. He would rather pass away going to his room, leaving Disa.

“Bicycle I brought ya!!” disa is harder.

Damar did not reply, only the sound of a closed door that Disa heard.

Behind the door of his room, Damar leaned his body against the door leaf. He recalled the sound of laughing with his mother earlier. It was so crisp and made her smile. Yet again, he recalled his current state and Disa.

“Sa, did you forget our dream to become a famous painter and travel the world?” muttered Damar while looking at the pictures attached to his wall.

Disa who really likes to paint on canvas and Damar who is naughty hobby graffiti on a plain wall, became the reason why they used to be able to make friends.

They promised that one day they would travel the world. Disa paints various cities and Damar leaves a trail of his visits by making graffiti in famous and historic countries.

But it seems like everything is only going to be wishful thinking at a young age. He felt that he had lost many things, even the dream he had tried to carve with Disa, he slowly had to forget. It may be true that circumstances can change things.

Damar tried to lay his body on the bed. He tried to close his eyes. His sturdy arms he placed over his forehead with a slight clenching. Too many things were spinning in his head.

Sayup-sayup, he heard the sound of Disa and Meri in the kitchen. His voice sounded earthy with the sound of a dropped spoon and followed by a blender sound. Sometimes they talk and laugh.

“Kalo onion, how to slice gini. Should be elongated so the aroma will come out.” that sentence is heard quite clearly by Damar. Meri Voice.

“Kalo ginger, mending in a plump or join in a tan blender?”

“Depends on what you get. If you want to get the aroma of doang, you get enough but if you want to get the taste, aunt saranin anyway in blender.”

Hearing the conversation of the two women, it feels like Damar wants to rejoin. Not having a conversation, but at least it's better than the two of them with their erratic minds.

He took a glass from his small table, then pretended to go out to get some water. He could see a serious Disa and Meri in front of the stove with a large frying pan on it. The fragrance of the seasoning began to burst forth as the Meri began to saute it.

Damar took the water from the dispenser next to Disa, Disa just shifted and stayed focused on her tantric explanation. Damar stood next to him and noticed that Disa's hands were beginning to be good at sauteing spices, continuing the work of Meri who turned into a tutor of Disa.

“Yang first inserted what's tan? What seasoning salt first?”

“Tante prefers ulek seasoning, if garem is usually in the middle.”

Disa nodded. Damar who was standing next to him again took a sip of his drinking water while watching his sweaty face and neck. Maybe he's hot.

“O yes tan, my employer gag likes if the cuisine in the first cicipin. What about salinity?” Disa seemed to scrunch her forehead and think quite hard.

“Yes it is quite difficult for those of you who are still learning. Must be familiar with the use of spices. But it can actually be learned.”

Disa and Meri were both pensive, they seemed to be thinking hard.

Damar turned to the dining table chair and sat there playing with the glass in his hand.

“Why gag lo shadow if the seasoning is paint for you to paint?” Damar donated his idea.

Disa and Meri both looked at the man. “Means?” both asked simultaneously.

“Woy calm dong, so very expression." Damar preferred to go back for a sip of his drink before answering the question of the two women who were looking at him impatiently.

Walking over to Disa and Meri and standing between the two. "Yes I mean, try to draw it through color. For example, garem is red, sugar is white, just like how you paint. Watercolor is also gag lo tasting right, but the results are still delicious. Just the amount.” explained indifferently.

“Okey, aunt has an idea. You matiin first the stove.” Meri went to the dining table and took 6 bowls.

Disa followed and stood beside Meri. He noticed Meri who began to fill the bowl with the same amount of water between one bowl and another.

“Okey, auntie garem so much. This sugar, this flavoring. It's cow flavor and it's chicken taste. Try you tasting.”

Disa took the first bowl filled with salt by Meri. “Asin tan.” complained Disa while sticking out her tongue.

“A bit aja nyicipnya sa, make a picturein taste doang.” Meri immediately took the bowl from Disa's hand. “Nih drink first, let it be neutral.”

Disa just complied and beside him Damar seemed to hold back a laugh.

“Continue another bowl. Inget chip aja.” Meri pointed at the next bowl.

Can tried to taste the taste on his tongue and remember it well. He does on the next taste and remembers it again.

“Kayak candy yes taste, nano-nano.” Damar chuckles can not hide his laughter.

“Resek lo!” dengus Disa who was rewarded with a shot by his aunt. Yeah, how else, mother son.

“Where, have you memorized the feeling?”

“Em, yes aunt.” Disa was still trying to taste the flavor left in her mouth.

“Okey, now you try shadowin, this cauldron is your canvas. And all these spices are watercolors. It is the object you want to paint. Paint.” Meri gave her spatula to Disa.

He took a deep breath to convince himself. In front of the stove he stood. His hand tightly grasped the spatula that Meri gave him. “Paint.” Can quote the last word Meri.

He sure started cooking. Damar and Meri watched from the dining table. Sometimes Meri wants to ban it when Disa almost makes a mistake, lucky that the cuisine made by Disa can still be saved.

4 Food menu is presented in plain sight. Disa still holds the last 1 menu. His face looked very greasy with a dirty apron. He smiled looking at Damar and Meri alternately.

“Anytime to rate?” ask Disa.

Damar and Meri took their respective spoons. Damar even took the rice. They began to taste one by one Disa cuisine.

“This one, if your employer gag likes salty, this is too salty for him. This one, less finely chopped the roof. This one the fish is too dry, this is too much sauce and this is quite good.” Meri explained commenting on the cuisine.

“Feel in the event of cooking talent search gag tan?” asked Disa with a smile growing.

“Do not sok kecakepan so chef renata.” said Damar who enjoyed the food in front of him.

“Can be more fierce gag, so it looks like chef juna?” reply Disa who snorted.

Meri just smiled knotingly looking at the interaction of her son and nephew. And Damar always loses when he replies. He again enjoyed his food with a sharp gaze from Disa, waiting for the review he wanted to hear.

But at the very least, this is the warmest day in this not-so-extensive home. And thankfully, later they can have dinner with a special menu that they rarely meet.

****

The unpleasant part after cooking is cleaning up messy cookware. Disa is still cleaning the waste of used cooking ingredients while Damar helps wash dishes. Damar is very rarely involved in kitchen affairs considering he prefers to watch his favorite cartoon series on appeal involved in kitchen affairs.

Meri is still meeting guests who are ordering a cathering for a thanksgiving event when Disa is alone in the kitchen with her half-brother.

"Sister, can you please slide the trash can over here." pointed at the trash can that was under the sink.

Damar just followed Disa's request and pushed the trash can closer to his sister.

"Lo's in love off work at your place now?" asked but his hands were still busy with the dishes he was washing.

"Dapette. A month and 2 days." thrusting another plate at Damar.

"Where are you going on vacation?"

"You go to bandung, find grandma. Brother want to come?"

Damar stopped the movement of his hand, he turned to Disa who was fouling the rest of the onions he had peeled.

"Gue gag sure grandma still wants me." a little pensive, considering only two or three times he had met with grandma.

"Definitely ingetlah. Grandma must have said, the casep, the bageur, looks like an artist." said Disa who chuckled at the end of her sentence.

"Lo fucked me?" Damar rubbed the soap foam in his hand onto Disa's cheek.

"Ish brother damar, what a fad!" immediately rubbed his cheek with his right shoulder. "That's dirty tau!" glancing with annoyance.

"Usually you relax ajaa cemong same watercolor." wash his hands and then wipe the cheeks Disa to clean. With immediate restraint Damar's hand.

"Gue can be alone." he grunted in annoyance.

Damar smiled faintly as he looked at his hand which was flicked by Disa. Though in the past Disa never protested when Damar pinched with his natural flushed cheeks. Even if the protest, only a spoiled ride that makes Damar even more anxious.

Seeing Damar speechless, Disa turned her head. The man next to him was still looking at his hand that was raised by Disa.

"Gue is not a child anymore. Lap gini doang mah I can also." as if he did not mean to be rude to Damar.

"Little boy, if you still cry alone in the corner." Damar starts teasing Disa. I don't know why that awkwardness just disappeared.

"Do you know if I like crying in the corner?" stop his activities and prefer to look at Damar.

"You are!"

Exhaling his breath violently. "Yes, lo tau but lo gag cares." The reflex of the sentence was ejected from Disa's mouth.

"Who did I gag care?" Damar stared back at Disa who looked dumbfounded.

"I said it! You even gag ever ask me news, am I okay or ask trivial things temeh that actually gag need but that nintuin if you care." like there was a way for Disa to vent her feelings all along.

"Lo foreign to me brother. And as my brother, I gag ask you to pay more attention to me as sodara. I just want to lo balikin damong, my best friend." continued Disa without taking her eyes off Damar.

Hearing the words of Disa, it felt like Damar's vocal cords were blocked. It did not occur to him that this day would come, the day that Disa questioned her attitude all along.

"Udah finished?" the cheerful voice of Meri paused the conversation of the brothers.

Seeing that Disa and Damar were only glued, Meri chose to sit in her chair and spend the DP money that had been given by her customers.

"Tante dapet orderan cathering, thank God.." said Meri with a smile expanded.

"Alhamdulillah..." Disa gives thanks. But Damar was still in his place without comment. He prefers to finish his job to do the dishes.
