My Ex-Husband Is Crazy About Me

My Ex-Husband Is Crazy About Me
Chapter 23 ~ Father's Daughter

Veronica walked towards Ruby and sat down beside her in the grass. "What were you thinking just now?" the question breaks the silence. He put the wine bottle down and said, "Why are you so disturbed?"

"I'm thinking about a lot of things" replied Ruby. "Tell me, why are there so many worries in life? It would be great if it could always remain peaceful." He looked at the night sky that stretched as far as the eye could see and made him realize that his existence here was so small. It is too small to be invisible when viewed from above.

How small?

Why are there so many concerns?

Why can't life always be peaceful?

The question swirled around like a comedy. The more he thought about it, the faster it turned. But there was still no answer he could find.

After hearing Ruby's naive and ambitious words, Veronica chuckled and turned her head towards him. "Oh my dear Ruby, listen, man is born of fatigue and love. In life, people will experience difficulties and happiness. We will experience all kinds of pain and misery. After experiencing life changes, we will become stronger and more resilient. At that time, there was no danger that could hurt us easily. Perhaps this is the most painful type of torture, but after the pain, we will experience a refreshing sweet."

Ruby's dumbfounded. He just wanted to talk, the questions were random, but Veronica answered as if she had lived for hundreds of years. To his surprise, he thought the demonic woman beside him was not Veronica.

"So, what's really going on?" ask Veronica at the end. He looked at Ruby, waiting for an answer, asking for an explanation. First, this place is the one that showed it to Ruby. And secondly, if not for having a problem, it is impossible for Ruby to come all the way to this place.

"What do you think?" Instead of answering, Ruby reversed the question.

"If you ask me, who do I ask?" Veronica's voice rose as the word came out.

Ruby chuckles. Seeing how Veronica was provoked by emotions just because of trivialities, it was quite funny and entertaining.

"Hey, are you laughing? You think I'm funny?" Veronica shook her head. "No, I mean, I'm funny. Didn't we?" He likes it when someone says he's funny, however, Medusa, which part is funny? Not just make people afraid of profit. He was quite amused when someone said that.

Ruby nodded. "Yes, you're funny. You're the funniest."

Veronica was proud of Ruby's praise. However, "Wait, hey, that's not it. We're discussing what happened to you. Why are you so quick to switch the conversation?"

"Look, now you blame me? You forgot, you switched the conversation?" Ruby won't lose.

Veronica thought for a moment. "Forget over. Now tell me, what really happened? Is this about that despicable man, again?" Suddenly Veronica's thoughts got there.

After all, if it wasn't for that despicable bastard, Ruby couldn't have been this sad. The reason for his most real sadness since eight years ago, was just that guy, and yes. No. gabe. Actually there's another. But, forget it! It's not something that matters.

Veronica let out a long breath. "No wonder you're like this. Turns out you've met the boy." Seeing Ruby silent and seemingly not answering, he continued, "That's why I never told you this." Because a child can be a weak spot for his parents. And he was sure that was the case for Ruby, too.

At any rate, even if Ruby is used to killing people without batting an eye, she is still a mother who loves her child.

Even if Ruby already had two sons, it would still be different. This is her first child, the little princess she gave birth to by risking her entire life. Then after being born, his custody is taken for granted. Such a situation, who would not lose his sanity? If it had happened to him, he might have ended his life.

"No. You wrong. Without you telling me, I'd still find out for myself if I wanted to. But, the truth is I didn't do it." Rather than wasting her time on the past, Ruby chose to completely ignore it. That way, his life became calmer. But unfortunately, the calm was only short, because on his return here, the storm came again.

"Yes, you're right. You have two precious sons. They've had enough. You don't have to think about any more kids, okay?"

Ruby nodded.

"Then tell me, do you still love her?"

Ruby slightly curled her lips. Why do people around him like to ask this question?

"Life is not just about love" Ruby replied. When he was young, he did not understand this, because he could only find love. Except for love, he is helpless in making friendships or relationships with existing family members. Or rather, he did not want to put in the effort, as he could not help feeling disappointed after seeing the essence of things.

This was also the reason why he gave up on love, because the love he hoped for was not as good as he had imagined. No. gabe. He gave up, but Osvaldo changed everything. Regardless of anything, he managed to love Osvaldo and give his whole heart to him.

But most likely his love has also vanished with the departure of the man. If not with the man, it is impossible that he can feel that feeling again, impossible that he can love again. So, the last stop of his heart was that man, Osvaldo.

"You sure?"

Ruby frowned and said. "You think too much."

"Hey, he's your daughter's father. I mean, I just don't want you to make the wrong decision. How did that despicable man treat you back then? I hope you don't forget." Vidrian, if it wasn't for that bastard, Ruby couldn't have suffered and felt the pain that almost killed her. Thanks to that, Veronica hated him to the point of wanting to crush him to the bone.

Ruby was silent for a moment before answering. "Veronica, it's actually better to forget. Forget hatred, pain, memories, and we can finally forget that person. He was more like a dream in my memory. When I woke up, everything was gone." And that's the nightmare that keeps haunting him, Vidrian, not Osvaldo. Because Osvaldo is the giver of good dreams while Vidrian is the giver of bad dreams. Like two sides created to clash with each other.

"What if you go back to America?" veronica. It's not that she doesn't like Ruby coming back here, but that she doesn't want to see Ruby suffer anymore. It was enough that he saw Ruby dying, when Ruby managed to survive, he was not willing to see such a thing repeated for the second time.

After all, he could come to America whenever he wanted. He can come if he wants, and he can stay as long as he wants in the big palace where Ruby lives. And there, Ruby's happiness is not just a dream but really real.
