Residual Flavour
Choosing to pretend not to know

"Dav ... Deva," Deswita approached Deva worriedly.

Deva hurriedly wiped her tears. He didn't want to let Deswita know what was going on. Although it's actually too late. The woman stood up. Then forcefully pull both ends of her lips to form a smile line.

"Mama's read this a couple of times. But my mom doesn't understand. It's really God's, right?" Deswita thrust a piece of paper in her hand earlier to Deva.

With a slow motion, Deva received the paper. He also tried to read and understand the contents. However, almost eighty percent of the writing that was there, Deva could not understand at all what it meant and meant. Obviously because the terms used are medical terms that are very foreign to him.

"Deva doesn't understand, Mades."

"But this is Unyil's, right?" Deswita again insists on convincing little she can understand from the paper.

"Yes, Mades. This is the result of checking the condition of Mr. God's eyes," said Deva while nodding gently.

"Why the eyes of the gods? God why, Dev? Mama should call Mades' personal doctor. He must understand." Deswita set foot wide into her room to pick up her phone and call the Doctor she was referring to.

Deva, who was still holding the latest MRI paper of God, read the writing slowly back there. His memory floated up a moment ago. When the gods always take him to the hospital to check.

Deswita returned to the room Deva was in. Both are silent. Occasionally, Deswita walked back and forth in front of Deva who was sitting dumbstruck on the sofa. Anxiety as well as curiosity, make them impatient waiting for the arrival of Doctor Deswita family.

Finally, after waiting for almost an hour, the figure that awaited also revealed the trunk of his nose. Deswita immediately asked Deva to give the paper that made her curious earlier to the Doctor named Rafli.

"For a while, because I'm not an eye specialist. I must be careful not to misread the results of this MRI." Doctor Rafli asked for a longer time to find out what exactly God was experiencing from the results of the MRI a month ago.

"How, Doc? More or less," urged Deswita. Really impatient.

Dr. Rafli took a deep breath. "Here it is explained that the eye of the Deity suffers from Optic Neuritis."

"What is doc?" ask Deva and Deswita at the same time.

"Optical Neuritis is a visual impairment caused by inflammation of the eye nerves."

"Then how? Is dangerous?" Deswita could no longer cover her worries.

"I answered Ms. Deswita's question only based on the results of the examination that I hold. The rest, might be able to ask in more detail the God or Doctor who examined. As far as I've read, the inflammatory condition has been quite severe. Previously, there was therapy and treatment. But apparently, it doesn't have too positive an effect."

Deswita dropped her body on the floor. A clear thread drenched his cheek. The heartache of yesterday-yesterday feeling ignored by the Gods instantly turned into a deep sadness.

"If that inflammation can't be reduced, what's the worst chance, Doc?" Deva exhorted to ask.

Deswita looked at Doctor Rafli expectantly. Truly, he only wanted to hear a pleasant answer and be able to relieve his already broken heart.

"What a God experiences is indeed very rare. Here it is also explained that the current condition of God is caused because he has an autoimmune disorder, which is a condition when the immune system or immune system attacks the body's own cells," explained Dr. Rafli.

There's still something Deva wants to ask. Because as far as this was explained, he had already heard glimpses before. However, looking at Deswita who looked very hit, made Deva hold herself back for a moment.

Deva slid her body to the floor. Then he clasped Deswita's hand which felt so cold. That was the question he wanted to ask earlier. He held back, but apparently Deswita was also a very meticulous person.

"In medical science, God will gradually lose his sight."

The voice of Doctor Rafli who said it very carefully and gently, still sounded like lightning in the ears of Deva and Deswita. Both of them shook their heads strongly.

"Dev, Doctor Rafli must be mistaken, right? Ask another doctor. They probably answer not the same." Deswita wiped her wet cheeks and eyes. Trying to entertain his own mind.

Deva agreed to Deswita's thought. He is still trying to think positively by assuming Doctor Rafli is wrong in reading the results of the check-up. Because Dr. Rafli is a heart specialist. In fact, want any specialist doctor, if just reading the results of the examination with medical language, of course they all understand.

After Doctor Rafli said goodbye, Deva without thinking long, immediately sent a message to someone who of course immediately crossed his mind when Deswita said to immediately ask anyone friends who are Doctors.

Not the answer obtained, but the reply he first received was the question that asked who the results of the check-up belonged to? Of course Deva did not answer honestly.

It was only in the second message that he got a detailed explanation of the test results of the version of the person who was replying to the message with him. The answer is really unexpected and not expected by Deva or Deswita at all. Because the explanation from the doctor that Deva contacted was none other than Dave, exactly and authentically with the explanation given by Doctor Rafli.

"Unyil shouldn't have to endure it all alone. He must have stayed away from us because he didn't want to burden us. Stupid child .. where can it be," said Deswita. The clear thread re-wetted his cheeks.

Deva budging. A sense of regret approached him who was only busy suspecting but never once tried to find the truth. Deswita was right, Gods should not face pain alone. Especially when you choose to stay away from the people closest to you.

"For the first time in life, Mades will beg humans, and that human is you, Dev. Please restore Unyil's attitude like yesterday. Mades believes you can soften his heart."

Deva felt the grip of Deswita's hand growing tighter in her hand. The woman's gaze was so sad and full of sadness.

"Let Unyil continue to assume that Mades knows nothing about his pain. Mades did not want to break his heart. As a boy, it was clear he was protecting Mades' feelings from being crushed. So, let Mades keep pretending not to know Unyil's condition."

Deva nodded in agreement. As strong as the female energy is restraining herself from sticking to the clear circle. His lips were also tightly locked. Sometimes when others are in pain. Not the words of comfort needed. Just shut up and listen.

"Near Unyil, Dev. Entertain and restore his spirit in all the ways you can. Unyil abstains from pity. Do whatever, but do it sincerely. Mades knows, to love Unyil, of course you can not. There are many other flavors, right? This made your mama, Unyil should be your sister too."

Again and again, Deva simply answered Deswita's words with an increasingly weak nod of the head.

"O Allah, take care of my son when my hand cannot reach him. Recover spirit. I believe you will not leave the test without an answer behind it. Do everything that happens to us, according to your will. But strengthen our hearts to keep Lillah Billah."

Deva hugged Deswita tightly. There is no sorrow beyond the sorrow of a mother when she sees her child falling into temptation. A mother can cover her wound alone. However, not so when he found the baby slumped. Deswita and Deva embrace and strengthen each other. Until the two separated, the eyes are still equally wet to witness how Deswita and Deva put great love on the figure of God.

Since that night, there has been no day that Deva has passed without his efforts to approach the Gods. Although rejection for the sake of rejection is often obtained, Deva does not give up. The shadow of Deswita's sad face, further inflames the spirit of the woman.

Until seven days passed, just today, Deva put aside for a moment the affairs regarding the Gods. Now, Deva is already in the courtroom where the final verdict on Agas will be handed down. He was not alone, there was Desta who was still faithfully accompanying. There also appears the whereabouts of Dave and Fira.
