When he saw Dave coming down the stairs, Nina and Rudi immediately got up from his seat. Both of Dira's parents deliberately gave space and time to Dira and Dave together for longer. The wedding time that only left a count of not ten fingers, made the two a little anxious. Even though everything Dira wants has been given, but clearly reality is not as perfect as expected. Both Nina and Rudi, are not blind to just see how cold Dave is to the princess.
"Is Dira calm?" Nina asked as soon as Dave was three steps away from where he stood.
"Sorry, Aunt. I don't know how standard calm is with Dira. But I'm sorry, I have to go home. It's not appropriate for both of us in the room." Although his words were cynical, Dave said them very carefully.
Nina and Rudi exchanged looks. If it were not Dira who asked for it forcefully, they would certainly not need to humble themselves like this. Nina and Rudi obviously would never want to buy a man to be a son-in-law.
"When you look at Dira first, let Papa talk to Dave for a moment" said the man who failed to become the head of the area twice.
Without answering, Nina immediately left her husband and future daughter-in-law in the living room. Dave looked at the clock on his wrist, as if to signal that it was late at night. It's time enough to go stale.
"Just for a second, Dave." Rudi said because he could guess what was on Dave's mind at the moment. "Sit down" he added, pointing to the single sofa located across from the sofa he would sit on.
"Okay, please, sir." Dave's words are so formal. The relationship between the two seemed deliberately stretched a fairly wide distance by the man.
"I know, you weren't expecting this wedding. But I beg you, after the wedding, to do your duties and responsibilities properly. When the pledge has been said, in my shoulder all the things about Dira are put. Dira's good and bad, depending on how you lead him. Don't hurt Dira. Until this moment, we raised him with an infinite abundance of affection. We are even willing to do and give anything for the sake of his happiness," said Rudi.
"Bringing Dira to Me who doesn't love her at all-isn't that a misery? The responsibility of Dira's happiness, should not be bestowed on me. In the contract, there is a word "forced" that I will put softly in my heart. God knows what's behind our marriage" Dave said quickly.
"But, Dave, per---,"
"Marriage on the basis of coercion will not be the same as marriage based on love. There are always a lot of possibilities in it. To grow into a normal marriage, it is not enough just to be threatened and pressured. Sorry, Mister. I have to go home. That morning, I have an operation schedule." Dave cuts and quits the conversation as soon as possible.
Rudi couldn't hold Dave any longer. Apparently, Dave is not an easy person to approach. Long before Rudi stepped up, Dave had set an alarm to not be too stale on the prospective in-laws.
Refuse to drive to the page where the car is. Dave rushed to Dira's house. His steps are so wide. A flash of Deva's sad face returned across his mind. Dave tried to shake off the shadow.
The man was driving his four-wheeled vehicle at a fairly high speed. Wishing God would allow him to die on the streets, or just crash and lose his memory.
Bad prayer is not always easy to give. God has other plans for Dave. The man reached his home safely, perfectly intact without any lack of anything. Though how many times he gets a curse from other road users who are disturbed by Dave's reckless driving.
"How, Dave? Is everything all right?" Fira, who was deliberately waiting for Dave's arrival in the family room, immediately greeted his son with a sumringah.
"Cook, anyway? Something must have triggered why Dira got angry. You just need to get to know each other and have more time together. Dira educated and from a distinguished family who do not play around seedlings, bebet, and weights," Fira still firmly on his assessment is limited to the surface only.
"Just as for mom." Dave just left Fira.
Since that night, Dave has been closing in. He does not interact much with others other than when doing business. Day after day towards her wedding day, traversed emptyly. The man is more alone. He also no longer contacted Deva, while the woman he loved so much, asked for space not to be disturbed first. For all the wedding preparations, Dave didn't want to get involved in the least. From clothes or others, if asked only the word "arrange only" that comes out of his lips.
Until the time that was not expected arrived. All the nuclear families, now already in the Island of the Gods to attend the wedding of Dira and Dave which will be held tomorrow.
The faces of sumringah, laughter, and small talk filled one of the rooms. Where, there is being held a lunch event together by the family of Dira and Dave. But unfortunately, the warmth and cheerfulness that exist, not a little change the mood of the bridegroom.
"Deswita same God hasn't come yet, Rud?" ask Nina's mother.
"Yet, Mi. Maybe five o'clock will come. Deswita's mother is now a henchman, said Dira, her future son-in-law already lives there," replied Nina.
Nina's reply drew attention from Dave who was just sitting three seats away from Dira's omanya.
"Well, how could that be? How come you guys aren't ingetin? A woman can live in the house of a man who is not yet her husband. Of course he minced his money God just like Deswita. Her parents are not real, have children who are not allowed," every eighty-year-old woman casually.
"This woman is an orphan, Oma. Clearly his life was free. May he be sincere with Lord. Don't let Brother Dewa just be used as an impingement." Dira glanced at Dave casually.
"Mana Mbak Deswita is very easy to pity the same people. Surely the woman sells a sad story to Mbak Des," said Nina, adding to the story that is clearly not true and still in the form of conjectures from their own minds.
Dave's meal napsu that is already gone, getting drowned. The man put down his spoon and fork with a gesture that signified annoyance. Then he stood up and left the lunch together without excuse.
"Dave," cried Dira while chasing her future husband.
Instead of not listening, Dave was reluctant to stop his steps. Talking to Dira, will only make the tension go up. Dave swung his leg into the lobby, Dira widening his pace.
"Dave, can't you pretend to be nice in front of my family?" Dira blocked and pulled Dave's hand to make the man's body twist back forcefully.
"Are you really used to the word pretend, so doing good does not need a sincerity. No wonder, from the oldest, to the youngest like you, both look relaxed when judging and denouncing others. Dir, don't you have any shame? If there's nothing to be proud of, at least don't embarrass yourself."
