Screamnights
challenge part 1

I remember when I was a kid, I asked my mom. “Bu, why did my friend say he could see ghosts like kuntilanak and his friends, Bu?”

“Why, Alena? You want to see it too??”

“Ya.” I was 6 years old then. As an innocent child who doesn't know anything, I don't know what I'm saying. When my friend can do this and that, I want to be able to do it too. It has become a natural thing for children who are always curious and often imitate.

“You should be thankful that you can't see those creatures, Alena.”

“Why is that, Mom? My friend can see, why can't I see it too?”

“What the creatures look like is not like the picture you see on TV, dear Alena. Sometimes the faces of those creatures are much more terrifying. They will sometimes follow you either to your room or to your house. And if that happens, Alena will only continue to cry for fear of seeing their very, very scary faces

I used to think .. Mother's speech was just Mother's speech based on the intention to persuade me. I never thought what my mother said was the truth. Not long after I asked that question, my friend who always prided herself on being able to see the invisible creatures fell ill for a month. From what I've heard, some of the subtle-creatures annoyed my friend to the point of making him unsettled until he fell ill.

But ... even though I've had a bittersweet experience of people who can see creatures like that, I never get bored and afraid of things related to those creatures. Especially now, I feel like I really want to see those creatures and hope to find the spirit of someone among those creatures.

            That's why I started a screamnight account.

Most of the videos taken to be uploaded on the screamnight account are videos at some famous horror locations such as Lawang Sewu in Semarang, Trunyan Village skull Tour in Bali, Bali, Alas Purwo in Banyuwangi, Mount Lawu in Central Java and several other famous places. Alena and Manda chose those places because they are famous locations that have been ascertained their level of mysteriousness, horror nuance and known horror by most people. The rest are some pretty well-known places of horror at such a small level as urban legends in some cities.

“The first challenge, which one will we choose?” Manda asked Alena and Gala after sifting through some of the loyal visitor comments on her account which gave some ideas regarding the horror places they had not yet visited. During these two days, Manda posted a comment on the screamnight account, that the screamnight team was looking for an interesting horror location as the next location. Manda also posted a comment that the best advice from selected screamnight visitors will get interesting rewards from the screamnight account.

Manda showed several snippets of the image containing the comments she had filtered, on the projector screen. Tuk .. tuk .... Gala tapped her fingers through the comments that Manda had filtered out, before finally shaking her head. “I don't know which one is right. Have you checked the background of those places. The manda?? The comment that popped up felt foreign to my ear.”

“Let me give you an explanation, Manda.” Alena got up from her seat and allowed Manda to sit down after showing her search results for a few days. Alena knows filtering incoming comments is not as easy as editing a video as Gala does.

Alena then pointed to the first comment that had been filtered by Manda. The comment read: This is the story that went around my campus. Hear there's a reason behind the night college ban. There used to be students who went to college until night. The student wanted to go downstairs and as he walked downstairs, the student saw a female figure following him. At first the student thought she was another student just like him. But as the female figure continued to follow her, the student finally looked back at the female figure and found that the female figure did not have a face. The student screamed loudly and ran to the ground floor to get out of the campus area.

“This is a famous legend urband from one of the campuses in the city of Malang. I've read it and heard it from my friend who studied in Malang.” Alena gave an explanation to Gala.

The first comment ended. Alena then went on to a second comment that read: This is a believable story around my house. Have you ever heard of Kanjeran Beach? This beach almost every year takes its toll. Residents around believe the beach was once the site of a snake kingdom. Therefore the place still has a strong mystical air and many people have to be careful when it comes to the place to visit.

“If I'm not wrong, this beach is in the city of Surabaya and became one of the few famous legend urband in the city.” Alena explained again to Gala and Gala gave a nod of the head while opening Alena's laptop to check Alena's speech and the truth of the legend's urband.

Continue to the third comment: This is a famous story in the town where my Grandpa and Grandma lived. It is said that this place is where the disappearance of hermit girls due to a breakup. It is said that if a couple comes to love this place, in forty days their relationship will run aground. At first .. I did not believe in this place, but some of my acquaintances in that city actually experienced it: their relationship ran aground after coming to that place. That place is Nglirip Waterfall. Interested in going there?

“If I'm not mistaken, this location is in the city of Tuban. Just like before, this location is one of the few famous legend urband in the city of Tuban and several other waterfalls have the same story with the story in the waterfall: the: couples who love there, the relationship will run aground. The only difference is the detail of the reason for the incident in each location.” Alena gave another explanation to Gala.
