Secret Admirer; In The Land Of Fairies

Secret Admirer; In The Land Of Fairies
03. Fairy Statue

The road through which our ride-hailing car is now narrowed with flower jars belonging to the trees that are on each side of the road, making the surface of asphalt that is not entirely dominated by dark colors decorated by falling petals. One of the petals was carried away by a strong wind, which had gone through the window glass before I managed to close it perfectly. Then the purple flower petals landed on my lap. I also touched my finger on the petal, until unconsciously my smile was etched gently.

Then I thought about my new life in Fairille.

What will be waiting for me at my new school, how my daily life will be in Fairille– I am not worried about him at all, even from the very beginning I had thought that way despite the disappointment of my parents who would not allow me to live alone in McReych. What I need to do is just live it, right? The same is true of the days I spent in McReych. The monotonous routine will definitely happen again–minus hang out with my three friends in McReych, a different place.

Yeah, correct. The contents of my brain tell me so. However, it is different with the whisper of my heart.

I don't know what, but ever since I had a conversation with Zoe in person, and had seen how the waves rolled in the Fairille Sea, I felt calm and there was a spark of enthusiasm there.

Also a beat that's out of nowhere.

Without me knowing, apparently the school gate that read Fairille High School was in sight. The school building with marble colors and beautiful ornaments in some parts, pages decorated with diverse flower gardens, clock towers and school symbols at the top, are some of the sights that make me amazed. If Zoe hadn't held my shoulder, I might not have realized that our car had stopped in the schoolyard.

“Welcome to Fairille High School, Kim.”

I looked at Zoe who was smiling at me. Not only did Zoe say that, but the driver who turned out to have come down and opened the car door for me. Seeing him, I was confused. I was a little embarrassed by the treatment they gave me. However, I stepped out and thanked the driver before walking with Zoe towards the school building which looked magnificent as we walked closer.

Not only did the beautiful scenery spoil the eyes, but also the fragrance of flowers when the cool gentle breeze brought it to reach my sense of smell. I tried to focus on following Zoe, but I couldn't help but look at my eyes to not circulate around. Even my feet froze near a fountain pool when my eyes were glued to a statue that attracted my attention.

It was a statue of a crowned woman with a pair of wings that led me closer and closer. I was made to not blink at the statue that reminded me of my dreams.

“Peri?”

I asked empty air.

“Ya, fairy.”

Really am. I don't expect the statue to speak to me, or someone to answer my question.

The voice clearly did not belong to Zoe, nor did it belong to the fairy statue in front of her, but rather the voice belonged to a man. When I turned my head, the figure of the boy in the school uniform carrying a pile of documents had just stopped beside me. The man's smile was drawn wide, as well as his friendly gaze. I was surprised to see the guy in the Fairille High School uniform so handsome. Even I almost thought that guy was a fairy incarnation like the one I had met in a dream. Although there was no light or wings on the guy, but the presence of the guy managed to make me able to hear my heartbeat.

The guy has brown curly hair with bright blue eyes like the sea I met earlier. Constantly looking into his eyes, I seemed to be mired and sinking more and more into the deep ocean.

“Are you interested in fairies?”

The guy spoke again. I immediately blinked my eyelids a few times to escape the pic. However I try to be calm, I cannot be as usual who will not care about the existence of a handsome man.

But why am I like this now? Is this what Marsha, Felly, and Sophi used to say when we walked together? Or is this called karma because it always considers the attitude of my female friends to be excessive?

Is this what you call falling in love at first sight?

Uh. The guy's getting closer, my heart's getting beat.

“I'm just curious,” said I throw my face towards the fairy statue. Trying to hide my attitude of not being able to look straight at the guy's eyes indifferently.

When a crisp laugh suddenly sounded, that was where my intention to immediately escape from this place grew.

“So much as me.”

“I Leonal Ordt.”

Unknowingly, I looked. Hugging a few documents in one of his hands, the guy used the other hand to invite me to shake hands. Even though I couldn't really look him in the eye, I finally wanted to welcome the guy's hand after being silent for a few jokes.

“Kimberly Schulz.”

Successfully saying my name without stammering it felt like I wanted to pat myself on the shoulder because I felt proud. Moreover, the meeting of our hands that can be said not only lasts a moment. The guy seemed to deliberately hold my hand to stay in his hand.

But what is just my feeling?

The guy kept looking me in the eye and still wouldn't let go of my hand.

“Master Ordt?” I said asking for attention. Now the man looked like he was immersed in his own thoughts. “Is something bothering you?”

“Ah, sorry, Miss Schulz.” The man hurriedly let go of my hand. His expression also softened and seemed to feel bad for his attitude towards me. “I'm too fascinated by you. Could it be that you are a princess just like this statue?”

I fell silent again. My cheeks may be blushing right now. I don't understand what that guy meant. There was no way that the dream I had that night could be known to others while I never told anyone myself. Or is it just nonsense spoken by the sweet mouth of the boys when they want to captivate the heart of a girl?

Leonal Ordt laughed a little. His regretful smile was also present when he would return to speak.

“Do I scare you? Sorry I'm just too interested in this fairy statue, Miss Schulz. And I guess, you do have a pretty face as well as a fairy princess whose existence might be real.”

“Thank you.” My voice may sound slow, or it is precisely because of the beating of my heart that now sounds very loud in my ears. “Princess fairy, yes.”

“I'm happy if you're interested in the statue too. By the way, it looks like you're the new kid. Do you want me to walk around? Maybe we can exchange a little opinion about this statue. What do you think, Miss Schulz?”

I don't know what to say. Most of me wanted to say yes because I was curious about the story of the fairy statue, especially if it had something in common with the dream I had. However, a small part of me still have the awareness that my arrival is not only alone.

Jesus, Zoe! I forgot!

“No need. I–”

“Oi, Ordt Head. Meeting will start soon.”

My head turned. The cold and muffled sound came from the 2nd floor window, belonging to a person with glasses who had his hands folded on the window sills.

“Ah, alright!” From the 2nd floor, the guy turned to look at me. Both from the look on her face and the tone of her voice, Leonal Ordt was truly sorry. “Sorry, I forgot there was an important meeting. Meet me if you need anything, Miss Schulz. I have to go.”

The boy hurriedly entered the school building. Leaving me who could not escape staring at his distant back. I then tried to hold my chest, feeling a heartbeat that was getting more normal after the man's departure.

Uh... How strange.

What the hell happened to me?
