Chiara returned to her bedroom, without caring about what was happening below. The girl rarely cried. But by then, her tears were unstoppable. Chiara threw herself on the bed, then cried while immersing her face into the pillow.
Seeing how Rein was back to help his family, made Chiara ashamed. He cursed his father who had made trouble for his family. The girl also cursed at her sister, Kale, who had never been home, especially when she had to face such a dangerous problem just now. He also hated himself for days without making any money.
Chiara continued to cry until her eyes felt so painful and swollen. The sound of knocking on the door was heard shortly afterwards. Chiara did not budge. The girl kept her face buried on her bed pillow. The one who knocked on the door stepped in, then sat down next to Chiara.
“Are you still mad at me?” ask the voice of a man, who is well recognized by Chiara: Rein.
Chiara did not answer. Rein patted his shoulder, which moved up and down as it held back sobs.
“I'm sorry for acting without thinking about your feelings. Kara, you know that I'm really sincere with you. You're the only friend I have. The person I trust the most is more than anyone else. That's why I thought you felt the same way too,” Rein said slowly.
Chiara tried to strengthen her heart. He does not like to look weak in front of others. After wiping her tears that soaked her entire face, the girl got up from the top of the bed and sat back to Rein.
“For me you are also my only friend. And for now, I don't want our relationship to cross that line,” Chiara muttered in a quivering voice.
Rein gulped, mute. He could already estimate Chiara's answer. Although he knew exactly what reason the girl had rejected him, Rein could not impose his will.
“Good. I won't mention marriage again until you're ready. The important thing is that you know how I feel. I love you sincerely. Therefore I will keep waiting for you,” said Rein a little persuading.
“Of course. Come whenever you want to my shop. Just do it as usual. Let's assume yesterday's talk never existed,” said Rein finally decided to budge.
Chiara smiled faintly, still turning her back to Rein. “Thank you, Rein,” he said relieved.
Rein took a deep breath. He knew that it was not easy for Chiara to accept him as a life partner. Chiara has too much self-esteem. And the state of their families both made the girl always feel inferior. Whereas in Rein's eyes, Chiara was the perfect woman, regardless of her background.
“For the money you gave to those thugs, I'll replace it with my savings I kept in the secret room. It may not be able to fully reimburse all the costs that you incur, but I will work hard from today,” Chiara said as she turned around and looked at Rein with covert eyes.
After seven days of not seeing Chiara's face, Rein's longing rose. Even so, Chiara's puffy face made the young man bitter. Plus the words of Chiara who seemed to think of him like everyone else, to intend to return the money.
“You know that I don't want you to be burdened with my help. You don't have to give it back. Consider it a favor from a friend,” persuade Rein.
But Chiara then put a wounded expression on her face again. Rein took a heavy long breath. The girl now must have felt herself being pitied. Rein doesn't think so. He sincerely helped Chiara. Unfortunately, Chiara was not easily convinced. Rein therefore chose to give up again.
“Alright, alright. I'll take your money if you insist. But I won't pull it at once. Just pay one tenth every month,” Rein continued to give the middle way. Chiara was about to protest. “That's my final decision. You should also appreciate it, Kara,” Rein concluded irrefutably.
