Chapters. 72. What's up with you, Ed?

The next day, Edward left his mother's house at dawn. He did not say goodbye to his mother. Just saying goodbye to Felisha.

The brother did not forbid Edward to leave. He also did not want to join her brother.

Felisha just wants her brother to be happy. If the man's happiness is with Laura, Felisha will be in full support.

“May you be happy with your choice, Ed.” Felisha stood on the balcony of her second floor room, looking at the car of the older sister who had started to move out of their yard.

“She's gone?”

Felisha turned and found her mother standing behind her.

“Ma.. Why are you awake? It's still dark.”

Mama Devano walked closer to the mother.

“What is Ed so mad at mama? To the extent that he does not want to say goodbye to mama?”

Instead of answering the princess's question, Hugo turned around to ask her.

“It's not like that, ma. Ed—,”

“Mama knows, Fel. Your sister is very angry at mama.” Madam Hugo sighed softly. “Mama has thought everything out. Mama will support Ed, as long as he still wants to meet with the mama's friend's son.”

“For what to bring them together, ma? Ed already has his own options.”

After a long talk, the middle-aged woman turned around, and left the princess just like that.

“Ma., what's wrong with you? Why did mom/mom suddenly change this way?” Felisha said something soft. Just like her twin sister, she also felt that her mother had changed.

Edward's car arrived in front of the home at 5 a.m. The man did not feel good to disturb the caretaker in the morning blind like this. He decided to stay in the car, until the sun showed himself.

Edward parked his car right in front of the gate. Hopefully, if he falls asleep in the car, someone will wake up when he sees his car there.

I don't know how long the man slept, he felt something shake his body. He slowly opened his eyes, finding that the day was light.

“Pak, why sleep here?” Mr. Toto's voice restores all of Edward's consciousness.

“Ah, I don't feel good bothering in the morning blind. Therefore, I sleep here, sir.” The man held up his sitting position.

“Pak, please open the door. I want to go in.” He said again, while turning on his luxury car engine.

Mr. Toto opened the gate, so that the prospective employer could put his car into the courtyard of the home.

Edward parked his car neatly, then walked to the orphanage's living room.

“Ed? Why is it here so early in the morning?” Laura frowned, as she found Edward walking towards the living room.

The man turned his head to the right and to the left, making sure that no one was around.

“I miss you, baby.” Edward grabbed the body in front of him. Clutching tightly, channeling a lump of his heart.

With doubt Laura returned the man's embrace. Slowly, his hand rubbed Edward's back.

“What's up, Ed?”

The man let go of his arms. He held both shoulders of the girl.

“It's okay. I just missed you. Has anyone made breakfast? My stomach is hungry.”

Last night, due to a difference in understanding with the mother, made Edward reluctant to eat dinner. Things this morning, the man's stomach was struggling to be filled.

“Are you not having breakfast?”

The man shook his head, his eyes staring heartily like a child asking for a snack.

“Yes already, let's go to the kitchen. We make breakfast for mom and aunty.” Laura pulls Edward's hand and takes him to the orphanage kitchen.

There is Maria's mother, Lily's aunt, Laura and Edward, the benefactor who claims to be Laura's lover.

They enjoyed their breakfast peacefully. There was no chat at the dinner table, as that was already the rule in this parlour.

After breakfast, it was over. Edward invites Laura back to his penthouse, arguing that there is an important job that the man must complete.

Without much dispute, Laura complied with Edward's wishes. He who had sensed there was an awkwardness behind the man's attitude, wanted to talk to Edward alone.

“Bu, give my regards to all the brothers. Sorry, I cannot wait for their arrival.” Laura hugged Mary's mother briefly as a sign of separation.

After that, Edward did the same.

“Later I'll come again, Bu.” Said the man.

“You guys be careful on the road.” The middle-aged woman gave a message.

Laura and Edward leave the orphanage when the time shows at 9 a.m. Laura felt a little lazy, as it was too early for her to leave the parlour. Moreover, he had not had time to meet his sisters.

The girl rested her back on the back of the luxury car seat. His gaze was straight ahead staring at the vehicle traveling from the opposite direction.

“Baby.”

Edward's left hand stretched across the girl's arm. He realized that the lover of the heart was sulking.

“What's up, hmm?” He asked, after the girl turned to him.

“I should ask you, Mr. Hugo. What's wrong with you? Why do I feel something strange about your attitude?”

“Baby, no—,”

Laura raised her right hand. He stopped the adult man's speech.

“Don't say nothing happened, Ed. Although we just know each other, but I can feel, there is something different with you.” Say the girl with a wit.

“We talk after we get home, baby.”

The roads were slightly congested, making their journey slightly obstructed. After almost two hours of driving, now the two men have reached the basement of the luxury penthouse.

Silence still lingered between Edward and Laura. None of them wanted to start a conversation.

After arriving at the penthouse, Laura walked towards the living room. The girl threw her body on the sofa.

Edward just saw what the girl was doing. He walked towards the mini bar, to pick up two cans of soft drink, then took them to Laura's place.

“Drink first, baby.” The man handed Laura a can of chocolate-flavored drink.

“Tell me, what's wrong with you, Ed.” The girl grabbed the can Edward gave her and drank it.

Edward sat down next to the girl. Drink a little of his drink. Then he sighed softly, before starting to talk.

“Laura, will you live hard with me?” The man looked towards the girl.

Laura's two eyebrows almost fused hearing Edward's question.

“Ed, I've been used to living hard since childhood. If someday life is hard again, I don't have a problem.” Answer the girl.

“Then let's start a new life together. We start everything from the bottom.” Edward grabbed the girl's fingers, then linked their hands together.
