One month before …

“Are you sure, Seth?” martin asked, as Seth stopped his car in front of a nursing home where Rida was being treated.

Seth nodded. Staring at Martin from the front view. “I'm sure, Sir,” he replied.

“You brought it all, right?” Martin raised his hand and asked Seth for something.

The young man nodded again and handed Martin a file.

“What do I need to accompany, Mister?” tawar Seth's.

Martin shook his head. “No need. This is my personal business. You just in case, if anyone else comes, contact me immediately,”

“Other people? Meaning ... Mrs Karen?”

“Can be Karen–” Martin stop. “Or her ex-husband, Ray. I know, he's a bully who can show up from anywhere,”

Seth nodded obediently. Then Martin got out of the car, after tidying up his clothes and arranging his heart. This was the first time she had met Rida, her mother-in-law. So Martin didn't want to give a bad impression.

“Can I meet with Rida Evans?” ask Martin to the receptionist.

The receptionist looked at each other with his partner. “Who are you, if I may know?”

Martin cleared his throat. “I'm her son's husband, Karen,”

Their eyes widened, and looked at each other again. Then one of the nurses who knew Karen came forward.

“There can I help?” tanyakanya.

“I want to meet Rida Evans. I'm Karen's husband,”

“S-husband?” The nurse hesitated.

Realizing the strange hiccups of the employees, Martin realized one thing. Karen hasn't told everyone she knows, that she's divorced with Ray.

“I have to meet with Rida,” firmly Martin.

The nurse looked nervous. Then he hurriedly gave Martin a hint of the way.

Arriving there, Martin slowly entered Rida's room after knocking on the door twice.

Rida looked as if she was peeling an apple, and immediately put down her knife when she saw Martin coming. His gaze was puzzled, having never met Martin before.

“Who are you?” ask Rida.

Martin took a seat in the front seat of Rida's bed. He extended his hand.

“Include, I'm Martin, Mom,” Martin replied. “I'm husband Karen,” she said without hesitation.

“Suami?!” Rida widened her eyeballs. “What do you mean?”

Martin then pulled out a piece of paperwork, a copy of Karen and Ray's divorce papers.

“Karen has long been divorced from Ray,” explains Martin. “And now, I am her husband. Did Karen never tell Mom?”

Rida shook her hand as she read the copy of the letter. He could not even respond to anything, as everything felt like a bomb dropped suddenly on him.

“No way .. “ murmured Rida in disbelief.

Martin smiled knot. “Then, did Karen ever come with Ray?”

“Karen never came,” replied Rida. “But Ray–” He gulps, gulps bitterness. “He comes to see me every week. Even still financing my entire treatment here,”

Martin's heart ached when he heard Rida's chatter. If not for respecting Rida as Karen's mother, it would have been for sure Martin would have gone berserk. He hates the name Ray called in a good way.

“From now on, I'll fund Mom's entire treatment. Because I am Karen's husband,” Martin asserted, holding back his frustration.

“Can I ask you one thing?” ask Rida carefully.

Martin looked at her with a more shady look. “What does Mom mean?”

“Why did Karen never come here again? Did you forbid it?" Rida composed her sentence carefully.

"ban off? Even I was never told, if his mother was still alive," Martin replied, adding a wry smile. But that smile seemed scary to Rida.

Ray repeats Rida's story to her, when Martin first meets Rida. A few days later, Karen visits Rida for the first time after their divorce.

Karen went limp. Realizing the fact that everything happened was beyond his expectations. Realizing that Martin is closing his meeting with Karen's Rida.

“So ... Your conversation with Mom that time .. “

“What talk?” sahut Ray was impatient.

“That you love someone,” replied Karen. “It wasn't me, but Kamala?”

Ray closed his eyes, unable to look at Karen. “Moreover I can say. Rida already knows we're divorced,”

“Jawab honest, Ray!!” cry Karen. Now it was he who shook Ray's shoulder. “You love me or Kamala?”

Tears are now pouring out, soaking all over Karen's face. “I just want to hear one thing right now. One thing that will make me strong against everything,” isak Karen.

Ray just resigned. He did not argue, but he did not fight.

“I beg you, Ray. Give me the answer that will keep me strong. I just need that,” Karen's eyes are red and swollen, she spills everything in her heart in front of Ray.

“I lied to Martin. I said I was the one who reported it to the police. I don't want him to get even more revenge on you. It's just me he hates,”

“You shouldn't have to do that. I just want him to know, I'm the one who reported it,” said Ray.

“Ray–” Karen is now touching Ray's soft hand. “Actually what is your goal?” His crooked eyes were heartbreaking, as if Ray wanted to hold Karen tightly at this moment. “Why are you reporting Martin?” continued Karen. “Is it because you want to satisfy your grudges, or because you still love me?”

“This is beyond our discussion, Karen,”

“But I need to know!!” karen jolt, hysterical. “I've lost everything. With Martin, I can't feel peace because of the shadow of his chaotic family. With you, I can't because–” Karen stopped to gulp. “Because there is Kamala by your side,”

“Karen .. “ Ray couldn't see the pain in Karen's eyes.

“My answer, Ray. Do you still love me?”

"That question is not worth saying, for it is you who have forsaken me. I never asked for any of this to happen. You're the one who left me, Karen," replied Ray, teary-eyed.

"But Ray … "

"You have no right to be jealous of Kamala, for it was you who abandoned me for Martin's sake" Ray said quickly.

"How many times do I have to say?! I'm being threatened, Ray!" karen's jolt started to grow angry.

"And you make your own decisions, without discussing with me. That means, you believe I can't protect myself. What is it now? Martin has lost to me!"

"Do you love me or not?" ask Karen lirih. "Do you love me or not, Ray?!!" His tone was high, full of chaos.

Ray is shocked to see the chaos in Karen, describing if the woman is in the worst time of her life. All her life knowing Karen, she had never seen Karen like this.

His right hand was about to grab Karen's body that was trembling chaotically.

"Ray .. "call Kamala, which automatically stops Ray.

Kamala accidentally sees Ray and Karen in a bad state, where Karen cries hysterically with Ray standing in front of her.
