As Gabrielle's case ends, Magisna hopes to meet Jati and her friends again. Unless holiday activities at Gabrielle's hunting lodge are still their routine the following weekend.
They all live in a small town called Rangkasbitung, a town not too far from the plantation village, just an hour away by car. After all, the city was still one district with a plantation village.
But considering this story is more about torture of the main character, Magisna is not sure the Author of the Fuck would be kind enough to give him the opportunity to sip a little sweet story like the love story of Romeo and Juliet.
It all depends on the mood of the Fucking Writer, Magisna thought bitterly.
Hey—doesn't there be a phone number you can call or any other social media contacts?
Of course there is!
But in plantation villages, most of the population lives below the poverty line where a cell phone is still a luxury that only upper middle class people have, he said, and the school children in this place no one carries a cell phone.
So Magisna's parents didn't allow Magisna to use a cell phone and have it.
For everything that requires access to the internet network, everyone in this place relies on the services of internet cafes that are only visited by certain people, it is not much. There are only two or three internet cafes with relatively far apart distances.
Forget about WiFi!
In this place WiFi only installed in the offices of the apparatus.
It was done by the Fucking Writer to facilitate the process of torture of his character.
Isn't this Fucking Writer so a n j i m?
No wonder he's nicknamed the Fucking Writer!
I began to miss my hometown, Inner Magisna. A place where all the conveniences are presented with just one tap of a finger on the screen of a smart device.
"Don't you have any human friends?"
Magisna flinched and looked back.
Kiddo Callaghan, an oriental-faced boy possessed by the ghost of Dusk, knows he is standing behind him with both hands tucked in his pants pocket.
Magisna let out a short sigh and stepped down from her motorcycle. He had just arrived at the school parking lot and turned off the machine when the boy approached him.
"After yesterday you smelled like a rat and a rice field snake, now you smell like a kitchen cat" Kiddo said as he watched Magisna with squashed eyes.
Magisna took the bag down from her back, removed the sweater and folded it, then stuffed the sweater into a box under her motorcycle seat. "Lu can still see the ghost after possessing the child?" magisna asked as she pressed the seat and locked it.
"Just smell the scent" replied Dusk lightly. "This kid has no talent for seeing things like that! Why don't you wear your school uniform?"
"Courtesy of the court was directly here, but the cave brought a uniform, really," explained Magisna as she lifted her backpack and pointed it at Kiddo. "Does everyone who's possessed smell ghosts?" tanyanya.
"More precisely all ghosts can smell other ghosts even though they are possessing someone," explained Dusk, then frowned. "Why did you go to court?"
"Gua was asked to be a witness for Gabrielle's case."
Instantly Dusk bought a slumber. "This is the second time Gabe has dealt with a trial because of a ghost" he grumbled.
Magisna's turn was now the one frowning.
"Has Gabe finally been released?" ask Dusk.
"Yes" answered Magisna briefly. But both of his eyebrows are still in chains.
"Good," said Dusk, sighing. "Indeed, Gabe shouldn't have been punished. Gabe is innocent. So did ten years ago."
"Ten years ago, first-class vocational school students were serving sentences in the basement" Dusk began to tell stories. "But somehow suddenly the place was invaded by wild beasts after a devastating earthquake that brought down a mountain of huge avalanches. There was a huge hole created by the earthquake and a flock of panthers stormed in through the hole and preyed on everyone. Some children are dead and missing. Some were buried in large avalanches, some were eaten by wild animals. Gabe survived, but that makes him a murder suspect."
Magisna fell silent, she already knew part of the story. But he just found out the story of the earthquake and landslide.
Dusk suddenly smiled wryly. "Nobody believed Gabe even though there was clearly no evidence that he had committed murder."
Magisna sighed heavily and exhaled slowly. He already knew this part, he wanted to know the other part. "Would there be no evacuation?"
"Of course there is" replied Dusk. "But the children were never found. That's why Gabe was released. No casualties, no evidence of murder."
Magisna frowned again. "So you said some kids were killed—"
"The plant is dead and missing," explained Dusk flatly.
"Dead and lost?" Magisna doesn't understand.
"Some children were found dead in an avalanche."
Magisna immediately shuddered to imagine an avalanche of sand that almost buried him while in Doolhof.
"In addition to Gabe, there was one boy who was found alive."
Isa sir, said Magisna in heart. But don't say anything.
"The boy's testimony doesn't match Gabe's testimony. The boy did not acknowledge any wild animal attacks or earthquakes. He said there was toxic smoke that caused everyone to faint and a woman hit her head from behind because the toxic effects of the smoke had a slow effect on her. The child's testimony was later reinforced by the testimony of locals who did not acknowledge the earthquake. But the results of the evacuation proved that a local earthquake had occurred due to a large avalanche and several children were killed. There's just no evidence of a beast assault." The twilight stopped for a moment and exhaled.
Magisna is still waiting.
"Investigators estimate the boy was in a separate place when the landslide occurred while Gabe was at the scene. The landslide caused the basement to shake and caused dust to scatter everywhere. Gabe thought it was an earthquake while the boy thought the dust plume from the avalanche was toxic smoke."
Magisna shook his head without a trace. He could understand the explanation of Dusk, but still did not understand the situation. In reality he himself found thirteen human skeletons confined within a narrow space with a new wall that someone had created to lock them up.
Was the wall created after the evacuation?
Who made it?
Gabe's?
Miss Pinkan?
Or Mr Isa?
And…
Who made that writing?
PIN DOWN THE BILLION TO BE RESPONSIBLE!!!
Someone returned to Doolhof after the evacuation! Magisna. It could be days after the evacuation. Or even after everyone has forgotten about it.
"Have you ever been to Doolhof after that case?" Magisna finally asked.
Dusk blinked and gazed into Magisna's eyes. "Yes" he replied half in a whisper. "I snuck in to prove Gabe's story of the beetle-like attack. I found them and killed them. My two beautiful collections, do you remember?"
"Well-yeah," Magisna replied as she gulped. For some reason until now he felt uncomfortable imagining a pair of panther heads were displayed on the fireplace in the hunting lodge.
It was like seeing an ancestral heirloom in a place that was not supposed to be.
