The War Of Gemstone: Owl & Flower
The Story of the Greedy Trader

Beren village to the north of Fengarium is famous for its forest riches. The majority of the citizens work as village loggers. They dredged the forest for their business resources.

For traders, it is mandatory to expand the network to various places. And it is natural for traders to move to the village in addition to the central market in the city to get more profit. But, for traders who are just starting to run their business and do not have connections it will be difficult to sell their merchandise.

Darin, a small merchant in Beren Village equipped with a small cart, he had traveled to various villages in Aruindale to sell his goods, but the goods sold were always not half. He was born and grew up in Beren Village, a village that has rich forests and abundant fresh fruits.

In the morning, Darin went to the forest to collect fresh fruit that he would sell later. Although it is not much different from the goods he sells with other traders, villagers are still hesitant to buy his merchandise. They are hesitant because they prefer to spend money on traders they already know, rather than small traders like Darin.

At night, he went home to his little house. Two small children in shabby clothes and messy hair were already waiting for him. The two children are her sisters. Darin lived a long time with his younger siblings and he always gave the rest of his unsold merchandise to fill their little bellies. Although their food needs can still be met, but the house they live in is not. Every week an addict would come to collect the debts of Darin's unpaid parents until their death. The longer the debt collector was getting rougher, he even pushed Darin to a fall and damaged his home equipment. It had been weeks of trading that he sold but could not cover his debt. He has been going around to various villages, selling it to the black market he has done but still not enough to cover his debt for 6 months.

Once upon a time, there was a male merchant with a mustache whose end flicked out to the place where Darin was selling. The trader wants to buy all Darin trades every day. The merchant told Darin to deliver his merchandise to the merchant's kiosk the next day if Darin agreed. Seduced by the offer, Darin shook the trader's hand.

Darin came home happy, he told all to his sisters. The 10-year-old eldest sister disapproved of her brother, saying not to trust the merchant too much. The younger brother also said it was okay to live like this, as long as they could always be together, being happy together was enough for the Darin sisters.

Hearing his sister's words, Darin made a great anger. He slammed a sack with his merchandise, “No! I'm tired of living like this! No one buys my merchandise, every day comes home empty-handed. I want to experience a luxurious life with servants who always provide luxury food and a magnificent bed. I don't care what you say, if you don't want to live fancy, stay here, and make your own money! Tomorrow I will still meet the merchant.”

Darin then went into his room. His heart was still doubtful, his sister's words made him confused and have trouble sleeping. She screamed and ruffled her hair. Eliminate all his doubts and force himself to sleep.

“This, as per the agreement,” Darin said as he lifted the sack containing fruits and gave it to the merchant.

“Good work. Here's your pay.” The merchant gave him a bag full of 100 Silver Pengrium and 10 Gold Pengrium as payment for the trade Darin brought for him.

The man smirked when he saw Darin happy. Darin was still dumbfounded to see so many Pengrium piles. He jumped up and ran for joy. Without further ado the man went straight to the city. He looked around the tall building with a brownish-red roof neatly lined up on the side of the road. The man stopped when he saw a number of suits in blue, black, and white emblazoned behind the glass of a shop building. Darin stared with the deepest desire, then walked into the shop. His eyes did not stop to stare at the white coat with a gold line sewn from the collar to the buttons. The man bought the clothes with the money he got. For a moment, Darin looked at the small clothes for the children, while imagining his younger siblings, but the man just left after paying.

Darin, with the look of a rich man wearing a white suit, returned to the city. Next he stopped at a restaurant. Not a restaurant filled with the smell of beer and noisy customers, but a classy restaurant. The walls are white and silver with gold ornaments adorning the walls. His servants were polite and always bowed to customers. As well as expensive classy food, made by renowned cooks.

The waiter came with a plate of dishes slowly placed on Darin's table. “Please enjoy Baked Meat Sauce Month, mr.”

A fragrant aroma spread in Darin's nose. The man's eyes stared at every piece of beef that was roasted in a medium fire, and smeared with a brownish sauce. Darin then took a fork, and stabbed the piece of meat. The soft and juicy texture of flesh danced on his tongue. The savory and warm taste is mixed with the brown sauce. Each bite, so soothing and graceful as it was when enjoying the moonlight, proves that the dish uses moon sauce. After enjoying the special experience, Darin visited other places spending his money by having fun, buying various clothes again, trying the famous drinks in the city, and buying many items.

Her sisters were shocked when they saw her brother coming home in luxurious clothes and carrying a lot of things. “Wah, a lot of her stuff, Kak!” exclaimed his eldest brother who was amazed while guiding the smallest, still six years old. “Did you also pay the debt?”

Darin forgot about it. He yelled and vented his mistake on his sister, “Why not remind me from the beginning!” After putting down his groceries, he brought his wagon and went outside in a hurry. Darin went into the forest, looking and picking the remaining fruits.
