Damar POVs
The gray night sky stifled the eyes of anyone who looked without the moonlight or the stars. The same sky, the sky that I see every day is very unattractive. Much different from the picture of the sky presented by the richness of astronomy books.
I walked down the hallway of the apartment building. Lighting lights that are lit every three or four meters replace sunlight. I stopped at the door of the apartment number seven hundred and fifteen. Without me noticing, this foot stepped towards the Bening apartment. We live in the same building but on different floors. If Bening lives on the seventh floor, I live on the eleventh floor. I never knew the girl's whereabouts until the little accident happened.
The black painted door was tightly closed. I pressed the bell after a split second of daydreaming. There's no answer. I repeated it again, no answer. I reviewed it again with a faster tempo because of anxiety. Did the girl not come home yet? It's impossible to remember the silver watch I wore on my left arm showing seven o'clock past. I pressed the doorbell back with anxiety. I don't remember how much I pressed him. I pressed it until my fingers felt sore.
The door opened, displaying the figure I was looking for scowled in annoyance. He opened the door and looked at me.
"Can't you read the situation? If you press the bell many times and there is no truth, there are two possibilities. First, there's no one at home, then second, the person you're looking for is lazy to meet you." He said it without pause then rolled his eyes and looked at me with annoyance. His cheeks were red with anger. The same figure that crashed into my car a while ago stood in front of me was now horned. Both hands folded.
"I don't think so," I said. He rolled his eyeballs again. He has a habit of turning his eyes when he does not like something. This wild girl must learn to control her emotions.
His slender body was wrapped in a white T-shirt covering almost half of his body combined with short gray denim pants. His feet were naked without wearing footwear. Those long, cloth-wrapped legs seized most of my attention.
"What's wrong?" his words managed to pull my gaze from the smooth skin of the exposed leg towards his face. Ketus. Both of his hands were still folded. He blocked the half-opened entrance.
"Well, I'm in?" I peeked at his apartment that was brightly lit by the light of the lamp.
"Tell me what you want" he said, blocking the half-opened door. His one hand now held the door. I looked back at those brown eyeballs. Brownish beads that are rarely owned by most residents of Jakarta. I've seen the same eyes of vegetable farmers who live in the highlands. What beautiful eyes.
"It's not good to talk at the door,"
He rolled his eyeballs once again but made no comment and let me in. He closed the door in his arms and folded his hands together in his chest. His slender body which was no more than a hundred and sixty centimeters gave a dominant impression with that pose. Unfortunately, it has no effect at all.
"Aren't you going to let me sit down?"
"No!"
"Coffee?"
"I don't drink coffee."
"Eat?" This white-tailed girl took off her folds of hands. He clenched his teeth in anger.
"The room! If you just want to eat, you can go back to your apartment and order the food you want. Now, go! I'm busy."
"Are you going to let a handsome guy like me pass out from hunger when at the table there's food to thank you for picking you up," my pretext while glancing at the dinner dishes at the table located in the corner of the room.
"That was my dinner, I'm sure my food didn't suit you," he said in a sullen tone. "Absumulation!" with a more flat voice.
"How can you be so sure?" He shrugged his shoulders. "At least you should let me taste your food" I persuaded. He thought of something and then gave me a look of resignation.
"It's up to you ... "
He walked towards the patry which was located next to the living room without a partition. I followed her steps towards the dining table that only had two chairs. Clear open a small closet and take out a white ceramic plate along with the spoon.
"I don't have to scoop up the rice, do I?" insinuations. He placed the plate and the spoon he had just picked up in front of me and pulled the empty chair beside me.
"I don't mind if you want to do it" my god.
He rolled his eyes but did not comment.
I scooped up the rice myself inside his mini rice cooker. There is cauliflower stir-fry mixed with mushroom ears and pieces of danging chicken. The smell is very fragrant, like my mother's cooking. Sambal, complete with tofu and tempeh and krupuk stored in containers.
"You cook often?" I try to raise the mood. He turned the plate towards my face. Take a slow breath and exhale it.
"Yes, save money and be cleaner!"
"I didn't know you could cook?"
"There's no reason for you to know!" ketus sentence. This rancid girl was indeed sniffy, her face could not lie.
"It's delicious!" praise me after you have tasted the cuisine. "Where did you learn?"
"So, what's the name of this dish?"
"Nothing." He shrugged his shoulders while his eyes avoided my gaze.
"Do you have any other secrets?"
"Confidential?" said parroting. He lifted his face and hissed. He's more sensitive than I thought.
"Yes, anything about you other than your tempramental stands out!"
He turned his head and snorted in annoyance.
"You came here to look for anything?" the mana is louder and a little angry. I raised both my hands in response."Finish your meal and get out of here as soon as possible!" stick with a low tone. Goody! I managed to upset him in a short time.
"Just like, I'm here because I want us to be friends."
"Sorry, I can't!" He immediately rejected my good intentions. What's with this snot girl? No, Bening is no longer the snot girl I thought she was, entering her twenty-fourth year, she should have been able to control her emotions. Damnit damnit! I even remember her birthday that fell on April the thirteenth. Two months from now.
"Why? Is it because of that guy?" I looked at him and clenched my fists and clenched my teeth.
"We can't be friends, no man and woman can be friends unless we want something" he said. His eyes shone with hatred before his brown eyes were misty, there was a wound there. There must be a reason why this girl refused the friendship I offered. His words were true, I was not interested in being his friend but there was something else that made me want to know him. Maybe it was her fiery brown eyes that caught my interest.
"I ... "
"Don't bother me again, I'll get married soon?" he pushed me back indirectly.
"Married? With her?" My voice is louder than it should be. I can't believe it! This girl was lying, she said it but dared not look me in the eye.
"If you're done coming home, then,"
"I just want to be friends ... "
"I don't need friends!" his cruel words were a slap. I stood that very second until the chair I was sitting on fell down and made a noise.
His thin body jolted in surprise. He stared at the silent plate in front of him. I pulled her arm with a single jolt until she stood up and forced those beautiful brown eyes to look at me.
"Do you always drive away guests who come to your house?" He tried to escape from my grip but in vain. I tightened my grip and made him squint his forehead withstanding the pain.
"Broom, shabby go and don't bother me anymore" his eyes opened. He tried to pull his arm but I still held him firmly.
His body trembled, his chest up and down. He was like a frightened cat. Damnit damnit! I didn't want to scare her or hurt her but I lost control of my emotions.
I loosened my grip and he threw my hand out violently before running towards the door, then opening it. He stood there in a huff. He glanced at me before throwing his face away.
I slowly walked up to him. He was so focused on his own mind that he didn't realize our distance was closed.
I pushed his body slowly until his back stared at the wall and imprisoned him with both hands. Bening lowered his head while his chest rose down.
"Bening .." I said. He raised his face slowly until our eyes met. We glanced at him for a second before he threw his face away. "Are you afraid of me?"
He shook his head slowly but the look in his eyes said something else. "I'm sorry" I said then lowered my face until we met our eyebrows. The smell of shampoo filled my nose. I inhaled that voracious pleasant aroma. I clenched my hand to hold back the anger. I don't know how long we've been in this position. Slowly Bening regained his calm, his body no longer trembling and more relaxed.
"I'll be back tomorrow!" I said more shrewdly. I put my hands on his head and stroked his tubers to calm him down. "Bye!"
