Damar POVs
"I've reserved a place for you both" Randy said as soon as he walked into my study. The ice glass door behind him was left closed by itself. The sound of footsteps drew closer before stopping right in front of the table. He was silent for a few seconds, probably waiting for a response from me.
"Who are you?" I raised my face slightly until our eyes met in the air. I gave him a chance to open his mouth and tell him his head. Randy pulled the black chair in front of the table and sat down unsolicited. Both of his brows were furrowed but his mouth was still tightly locked. I waited for him to open his mouth again. He shook slowly. Did I miss something important? Well, I'll know after Randy opens his voice.
"I sent a message last night. Did you forget?" He breathed slowly. There was irritation in his tone. This time, I scrunched my eyebrows. The sheets of paper that were at the center of my attention a few minutes ago became unattractive. I put the ballpoint pen I was holding on the table. Wrote full attention to Randy. I don't remember any such message. I remember ignoring Randy's last three messages. Bening, there's more room in my head than I thought. I need to get over this problem right away. The girl ....
"I didn't read it!" I leaned my back against the back of the high chair, watching Randy who seemed to be holding in anger. I really didn't read it and Randy should have known.
Randy curses slowly and then fixes his sitting position. We're face-to-face. The expression on his face turned more serious. His nostrils grew bigger before opening his mouth.
"Today, you'll have lunch with Almira. I've booked a place at your favorite Italian restaurant." His voice is light but very clear. The frown on the forehead deepened as he lightly said the shocking news. I raised one eyebrow.
Almira who? I don't remember having a girlfriend named Almira. Randy leaned his back on the chair. Ignoring the sharp look I gave.
"Is this a blind date?" my guess. I want to make sure. If this is true blind, it is clear who is behind it. Mama is producing this lunch. My God, when will you stop interfering with my personal life, the true love I'm trying to find. Shit, did I just say true love? I think my head needs an MRI.
"Please take it that way." He shrugged both shoulders in a relaxed manner. Mom dared to involve Randy in this. Mama must have planned this all out carefully.
"If I don't want to?" my many. An unintentionally restrained breath escaped.
"Prepare to find my bride" he said in a soft but firm tone. His eyes did not waver. Mama must have done something else to Randy.
"Is this a threat?"
"Ask your mother!" Randy sounded even more upset. Yeah, I'm sure you threatened Randy or something.
"Alright, there's no need to frown like a woman who's coming the moon." I saw Randy whining. He became more sensitive than usual. Was he fighting with his girlfriend?
"I'm not pouting!"
"You just did it!" godaku's. He didn't respond to it. His attention was fixed on the black map on the table. The map that Randy brought in a while ago.
"Is there anything else?"
"Our competitors have also just launched new products and their products are almost similar especially packaging. Otherwise they'll think it's our product."
"Investigate if anything is suspicious, including their new product."
"I think it's time."
"What time?"
"Lunch on."
Randy darted out after saying his last sentence. If only I could fire him easily without leaving any trouble. Unfortunately, Randy is my best and best friend.
I glanced at the silver watch that adorned the left hand, twelve o'clock past five minutes. I turned to glance at the sheets of paper that filled the brown-painted wooden table. This work is endless. After successfully tidying up some files, I left the room. Damnit. Randy should have told me earlier.
The trip to the restaurant Randy ordered was faster than I expected. The restaurant parking lot is crowded by neatly lined customer cars. The only place left was at the very end. It is far from the entrance of the restaurant. Apparently, customers are reluctant to park their cars in this place.
I pushed the car door and slipped out. My phone is shaking, a new message is coming in.
[I ordered your favorite table]
Randy wrote in his short message. With no intention of retaliating, I stowed back the metallic black phone in my pants pocket and walked away from the parking lot.
A well-dressed waitress greeted me kindly.
"Welcome, let me take you to your table!" walk first. I scan quickly a simple decorated room but it looks classy. Some tables are full. "Please!" he continued as soon as he arrived at the table that had been ordered by Randy.
"You want a message, sir?" ask her while extending the menu list towards me.
"I'm waiting for someone" my elak is subtle. I glanced at the silver watch in my right hand. This woman named Almira is ten minutes late. Do I have to act like a gentleman waiting for his friend to be intentionally late? Do all the drivers like to be late?
