LOVE BLOWS FROM REUNION

LOVE BLOWS FROM REUNION
Episode 187: THE FIRST LESSON

Yudi has been at the Shinto Kifune Shrine for a month. But the priest or shinshoku elder who runs the temple has not given any advice or explanation about his fate. In fact, the Priest had never met Yudi directly. It was as if the priest did not want to see Yudi. Is it possible because Yudi is just an ordinary person, a troubled Indonesian? Or because it is not yet time for Yudi to be found. But clearly, Yudi in the temple was just a layman entrusted to be saved. Some sort of concealed. Yudi cannot leave the temple. Even when there is worship from the community or residents around the temple, Yudi was told to hide.

As when I first woke up in the temple, now every morning Yudi swept along, cleaning the inner temple courtyard. Every morning, Yudi immediately swept to the finish of the entire inner court, starting from the courtyard of the hall where the shinshoku, the kannushi, and the young priests offered prayers, until they reached the riverbank. The leaf ruins in autumn are indeed quite a lot. It takes enough energy to clean it.

Lucky Yudi met a kannushi, who came from the Negeri. Kannushi of the Neighboring Country devoted himself to becoming a young priest, to care for the Shinto Kifune Temple. So Yudi called the workers at the temple with the call "Kannushi Neighborhood".

Yudi is happy to meet the neighboring Kannushi. At least, Yudi can ask or talk using Malay, which is almost the same as Indonesian. So that Yudi is easier to understand what is delivered, and if there is a Japanese language that Yudi does not know the meaning, he can ask the Kannushi Negeri.

Actually, Yudi wanted to tell a lot of stories or confide in Kannushi Negeri. But it seems to have become a custom, or tradition within the temple, that people living in the Shinto Kifune Shrine rarely speak. Or you could say, young priests, miko and people who help work in the temple, on average quiet and difficult to open the mouth. They rarely talk or talk. This may have been the culture in the temple. And that is how it should be, if life is to devote itself to the religious world. Serving without speaking.

Yudi, who has been living for a month in the Shinto Kifune Shrine, daily witnesses the lives of the priest's servants and workers at the temple, as if he were beginning to catch on, as if he were beginning to catch on, in that beautiful temple, there were no worldly interests. There is no desire to fulfill physical sufficiency. No one takes care of the family. No one thinks of a wife or children. All of them are only devoted to serving the people or people who come to the temple to pray and do worship.

So, the priests, the kannushi, the miko, and the workers of the Shinto Kifune Shrine, do not think about their earthly lives, just to serve the people in the world's prosperous life.

There was something strange in Yudi's eyes. If in his country, the daily life of those who claim to be soldiers of God, confess in the name of God, but they are still selfish. Gathering wealth for his sake, touting the name of God for his personal benefit. How ironic. While some say for the benefit of the people, but the people still suffer, it is his own property he piles.

Little by little, Yudi began to realize, that if one wants to draw himself closer to the Creator, the Great One, or the Almighty, then he must abandon worldly thoughts. He must forget about worldly needs. He must leave behind worldly possessions. If one can give up the desire to own worldly possessions, if one can sincerely abandon worldly interests, then he can only get closer to the Creator.

"Please enlighten, Pastor .... Is there any news from Shinshoku Elder Priest for me?" ask Yudi to Kannushi Negeri Negeri, when he met in the morning in the yard beside the river.

Kannushi Neighborhood was silently looking at Yudi. Although smiling, but that smile seemed to mock Yudi. He did not answer Yudi's question.

Yudi realized, in the temple, the workers rarely spoke. Yudi did not continue his conversation. Yudi smiled at the neighboring Kannushi, then continued sweeping the courtyard.

Likewise, Kannushi Negeri Negeri, who knew that Yudi would not receive an answer from him, he continued cleaning on the road on the riverbank, to the waterfall.

Yudi who was a little disappointed because he did not get an answer, even though he smiled, he continued sweeping. But of course the way to sweep it is different. Because of emotions, Yudi swept with a movement that symbolizes anger. It seemed to move quickly to sweep the courtyard, but the movement was rough and stiff. Does not show tenderness.

Then, slowly, the priest holding Yudi's hand helped move Yudi's hand holding the broom. Smooth, soft, and looks weak. But in reality, the broom had already pushed the scattered leaves, following the direction requested by the sweeper.

Yudi bowed his body, respected, and certainly apologized to the Priest.

"Anatanokokoroni kanjo o motte wa ikemasen ..." said the Pastor, who asked that there should never be any emotion in the heart. The priest left Yudi.

Yudi realized, his emotions were known by the Reverend. The priest could read Yudi's heart. This was what he had met the new ordinary priest, not the priest elders who were in the temple. Not to mention if the one who saw Yudi like that was the priest who led the temple. Yudi began to realize, meaning what was in his heart, the priests in this temple already know a lot. Know his grief, know his grief, know his sometimes uncontrollable emotions.

"Could it be that the priest elder didn't meet me because I couldn't control myself yet?" ask Yudi to himself.

Yudi did not continue his question. But he already knows the answer. Yep. That's what the priest did. He did not meet Yudi because it was not yet time. Yudi was not able to control himself. Yudi was still carried away by emotions. His mind is not calm. His life could not be separated from worldly things. Yudi was still shrouded in a very strong human feeling.

And so, after a rebuke from a priest who immediately stopped his hand while moving the handle of the broom, it was a very valuable lesson. A very important lesson in his life. Although the pastor did not speak, although he was not angry, although he did not curse, but for Yudi held his hand by the priest as he was emotional when sweeping, it was the angel's warning that pointed out the mistake he had done.

Moreover, when the priest held Yudi's hand, then helped and taught him how to swing a broom, it was a very scratching lesson in the heart. Yudi was rebuked by the angel. Yudi was taught by the gods.

Now only Yudi, can he accept the teachings given by the priests?

Yes, Yudi is now starting to rearrange the heart. Set oneself. Setting soul. He wants to be a person who is not just alive, but he wants to be a human being who can benefit others. As the Javanese proverb goes, "Urip is urinated." Life should be able to give life to others, can illuminate anyone around him.

"Ah, true .... Emotions will only damage the heart. Thinking about possessions will only damage the soul. Nestapa will work hard." murmured Yudi alone.

"Yudi ..., let's have breakfast." take Kannushi Neighborhood.

The two of them stepped up, walking together towards the dining room. Without talking. It was just the smile they had released when they looked at each other. Yudi witnessed the sincere smile of the young priest who came from the Neighborhood, not the smile that seemed to mock Yudi.
