Gus Ya'qub (source: google)...

Name KH. Ya'qub Hashim or known as Gus Ya’qub dijajaran sons and daughters Hadratussyaikh KH. Hasyim Asy’ari is indeed less famous than others.

He was the last son of Kh. Hasyim Asy’ari from the couple Bu Nyai Masruroh. Hadratussyaikh's last wife, gave birth to Bu Nyai Khodijah Hashim, Gus Abdul Kadir Hashim, and the last Gus Ya’qub Hashim.

He was born in the year of Hadratussyaikh death, namely in 1366 H or 1947 AD. So he won (found) his brother in infancy, even then only a few months. Furthermore, this little Gus Ya’qub was nurtured by his mother and his eldest brother, Bu Nyai Khodijah Hashim.

He grew up in a family that respected religious knowledge. Tebuireng was one of the sources of science at that time. Indeed Gus Ya’qub already has the strangeness of his childhood. He did things that are less normal than usual done by humans in general.

His time of study was only spent in Tebuireng. Self-taught learning is one way of learning. With a lot of reading and learning on your own.

Gus Zaki once wrote, One day a santri heard Gus Ya’qub read the book in the room. When viewed through the window hole, how surprised the santri saw that Gus Ya’qub was sorogan directly to Hadratus Shaykh Hasyim Asy’ari his brother who had long died.

Another story, often Gus Ya’qub when he was young was seen reading the yellow book next to his brother maqbarah in the Tebuireng Pondok Pesantren. It seems that, although Hadratus Shaykh died, his teaching soul never died.

Gus Ya’qub is also often aloof in the corner room, next to the maqbaroh. And in it was a voice without a look. It is said that the voice is KH. Hashim Asy’ari, who is teaching Gus Ya’qub.

As a knowledgeable person, he has the responsibility to practice the knowledge he obtained, therefore he once taught the book of Bulughul Marom. According to some accounts, if there are students who do not follow his studies, do not hesitate to slap the santri.

It is also said that Gus Ya’qub once taught English one day, when in fact he never learned English. Maybe this is one of the science of Ladunni, which not just anyone can get.

Some say that Gus Ya’qub is a jadzab guardian, it is true that statement. In his daily life, there are many peculiarities in his behavior, speech, actions. As written by Gus Zaki;

“Yes, Gus Ya’qub which a day can run out 7 packs of cigarettes,

which can turn on any kind of vehicle with any key, which sometimes sleeps 10 hours a day, which makes the iron flaccid, whose throats sometimes need interpreters to understand it, which is sometimes naked, which sometimes makes the iron flaccid, the Gus Dur disinclined to him”.

Even so, the family also wants Gus Ya’qub normal, not Jadzab. Because it often makes the family worried about him, as well as others. The family plans to show Gus Ya’qub to a famous guardian, namely Mbah Hamid Pasuruan, in order to resuscitate the gus Ya’qub from Fana’ too.

Because Mbah Hamid is also a guardian, he has the privilege of being able to weruh sedurunge winarah. Before the family sent the gus Ya’qub, Mbah Hamid had even come to Tebuireng. The intention to show also failed, because of the chaos of Mbah Hamid.

From the chaos of Mbah Hamid this indicates that Gus Ya’qub has a level that is not low. The relationship between the guardian and the other guardian is very close.

Gus Ya’qub often chimes with sign language that is difficult to understand. As the recognition of one of the santri Tebuireng first, when the santri met Gus Ya’qub on the road, he while singing “Blood flows to far”. Shortly thereafter there was the murder of witch doctors who had been crowded throughout Jatim.

In 1998 AD or 1419 H about the age of 51 years, he died. Gus Ya’qub is one of the many guardians of God called to a powerful existence. Sky earth, angels, society, santri feel sad with the passing of Gus Ya’qub.

He was buried in the cemetery of Masyayikh Tebuireng. May Allah forgive all his sins, and place him to a high degree. Amens.
