CHAPTER 58. LOVE DENIED

At first Brandon felt very confident about being able to approach Anastasya not because of Brandon's rich family background but because he also had extraordinary talent. When in the army he was the best soldier and now he is a reliable businessman who is quite feared for his ability in business.

The Bagaskara family is one of four prominent families in the capital. His one words were able to make people submit to him. But in front of Anastasya, he felt like a child yesterday afternoon. Brandon forced a smile on his face. “I understand. Be calm! I won't let anyone know that your name is Ana. But may I know you as Anastasya?”

The girl felt that something was wrong with the man before her, she tilted her head and asked. “What do you mean?”

Brandon took a deep breath while gathering courage. “Nona Anastasya, I like you and I want to get to know you closer.”

“You...” Anastasya was stunned for a moment.

Brandon's face flushed and clenched his hands. “I'm just a regular guy, since childhood me and my parents lived in the army since childhood. I am not good at seducing women with sweet words so I just directly express my feelings to you.”

It was not that Anastasya had never met a man who expressed feelings for her but this was the first time she had met a man who expressed feelings directly and suddenly. He also did not know what to say so he just kept quiet and let Brandon continue his sentence.

Brandon took the wine glass in front of him and took a sip. “I will never forget how you saved me. It was the first time I had seen such a brave girl like you. After that incident, I kept looking for you, I just wanted to return the favor to you but the longer I liked you.”

Anastasya looked at Brandon with a flat gaze, she could see the writing and nervousness in the eyes of the man. Anastasya did not know what to say to the man. Setup a few moments, “Thank you. Right now I don't have time to think about these things, having a love affair isn't on my agenda right now. There are still many other things I have to do so I can only say, sorry.”

As soon as Anastasya finished talking, the light in Brandon's eyes dimmed and his entire body was like a balloon that deflated immediately. But he quickly recovered his feelings and smiled forcedly.

“It's okay. I knew I was expressing my feelings all of a sudden. But can we be friends? I won't tell anyone that we've met abroad. Today is the first day we meet.”

“Ehm...actually I am not in a situation to be friends, but thank you very much.”

“What are you really doing? You hide your identity, you can't fall in love either and you can't even be friends?” brandon asked suspiciously.

“This is my personal problem.” Anastasya answered putting her face down.

Brandon realized that Anastasya's mood had suddenly turned grim. “Sorry if I'm sassy. I shouldn't have asked much but Miss Anastasya if one day you need help never hesitate to contact me. I will always be ready to help you.”

“Thank you.” Anastasya smiled. On the other hand Kenneth who was upset suddenly received a call from Diego.

“Kenneth! We have arrested one of the people who wanted to kill you while you were abroad.”

Kenneth raised his eyelids, “Where is that guy?”

“In my car. I've just taken him in about half an hour and I'll be there. This guy has been stranded and bobbing at sea for half a month and it looks like he's out of his mind.”

“I understand.” Kenneth said after a moment of silence. “Send that guy to Brandon's house. I'll go with him.”

“Good.”

Then the phone line disconnected, Kenneth tried to contact Brandon so excitedly. Brandon who had just started chatting with Anastasya about things abroad suddenly received an incoming call from Kenneth on the sidelines of their conversation.

Brandon immediately disconnects the call and continues the chat, his phone rings again and from the same person makes Brandon's heart become upset. He felt that Kenneth had deliberately called him to mock him. ‘Kenneth who chose to remain single and did not want to be in a relationship with women. Why is she interrupting my date?’ grunts in the heart.

“Sorry, I answered the phone first.” he told Anastasya.

“Please.”

“Where are you?”

“I was at an Italian restaurant across the mall with Anastasya. What's up?”

“People who were chasing and wanting to kill us have been caught and are now on their way to your house. Hurry here!”

“Didn't such things usually be handled in your room?” brandon asked in surprise.

“It can't be anymore. Come quickly.” Kenneth's tone looked very anxious.

“But I still eat...” replied Brandon hesitantly. Before he finished speaking, Kenneth had already decided on his call.

“Damn it!” Brandon cursed in a soft voice. When he looked back, there was already Anastasya standing with a bag in her hand.

“You...”.

“Go! Don't mind me.” said Anastasya.

“I'll take you home.” said Brandon volunteered.

“No need. I want to go to the mall near here and buy some goods.” said Anastasya refused.

Danendra had given him a task and asked Anastasya to get a joke and buy clothes for himself. He just wanted to go to the mall to buy some clothes and go home.

“Do you want to go to the mall across the street?” ask Brandon.

“Ya.” Anastasya replied briefly.

“Good. You can go and don't forget to call me if you need help.” Brandon said smiling meaningfully.

“Oke.” Anastasya replied confusedly as she did not know what was funny to the point of making Brandon laugh. But he didn't care about Brandon's words.

The two go down together, actually Brandon wants to drive Anastasya into the mall but suddenly a black MPV car stops in front of them. The window opened and revealed the corner of Kenneth's handsome face.

“You?” Brandon's shocked. “Why did you suddenly come here?”

“It just so happens that I'm passing by here so I pick you up.” Kenneth said as he coughed.

“I brought my own car, you go first. I'll take Miss Anastasya to the mall. I will catch up with you later.” Brandon said in an unhappy tone.

“Can't you go alone?” kenneth asked Anastasya coldly.

Anastasya furrowed his forehead feeling astonished by the man. He thinks maybe Kenneth who has that ugly trait but can still have friends, means that it is his good karma in the past.”

Anastasya develops a smile on Brandon. “Go, I can go to the mall myself. You don't need to drive me.”
