3 Months Girlfriend
Chapter 1: Rejected

...What did I do wrong? I'm only fallen in love. Why are you treating me so bad? —Ellena Clark...

...—–—...

The break hour is almost over. However, Elle was still standing in front of her open locker door. Staring at the pink box with a red ribbon on it. He was biting his lower lip.

Elle was about to give the gift to Bren Hudson. The guy he's been assessing since he was in elementary school. Elle wants to express her feelings for Bren on Valentine's Day.

Bren is so popular, and Elle doesn't expect Bren to reciprocate her feelings. He just wanted to make her feel relieved. That'sthat's all.

At first, Elle wants to put the gift of chocolate in Bren's locker and slip a letter that implies her feelings for Bren. However, because Bren is so popular, when a valentine day like this the locker is definitely filled with gifts from the girls at school.

The gifts from Elle would definitely not be seen and would eventually be wasted if Elle put them down along with the gifts from the other girls.

“Ellena Clark!” A hand touched Elle's shoulder. Elle nodded in surprise. He twisted his body and immediately closed the door of his locker hurriedly.

“Jackson! You surprised me!” exclaimed Elle to the man who was now standing before her.

Jackson raised one eyebrow. “I called you since. What are you daydreaming about in front of the locker to not hear my call?”

Elle grimaced awkwardly from feeling guilty. “Sorry.”

Jackson Rivera is the only friend Elle has. That guy is very friendly to everyone. So, Elle did not feel surprised when Jackson wanted to be friends with him.

Jackson shook his hand in front of his face. “Already.”

“Why look for me?”

Jakson pressed both his shoulders. “Nothing. It's just that the break will be over soon. Since we are coincidentally in the same class, I just want to take you to go to class together.”

“Hour break is up?” elle asked frantically as she looked at the clock on her wrist. Along with that, the class bell rang.

Elle exhaled slowly. Both of his shoulders slumped. His plan to reward Bren Hudson head-on, was forced to fail because the bell had rung.

“You look lethargic,” comments Jackson when the two of them were already in the classroom. Elle used to take the back seat in the corner near the window.

“You okay?”

Stare blankly out of the classroom through the clear window next to him. Elle slapped her face with both hands. “I'm fine,” murmured slowly.

Elle walked down. Staring at his two feet that took turns. Until the familiar voice of the boy in her ear made Elle lift his gaze. He saw Bren was not far from him who was just about to get into the car.

“Bren Hudson! Wait!”

Either get the courage from where, Elle shouted calling Bren's name. It made Bren who was just about to get into the car, undo his intentions. He looked at Elle questioningly.

Elle ran a small race towards Bren. After arriving in front of Bren, Elle immediately opened her bag and gave the gift box that she had failed to give to Bren at rest.

Elle did not dare to look towards Bren. So he looked down to avoid Bren's gaze. His two hands were stretched straight towards Bren, he pulled after feeling Bren receive his gift box. Elle felt her heart rate rise.

Did Bren open the gift box? Has Bren read his love letter? Elle did not know, and was too afraid to find out.

The sound of the car door opening made Elle lift his face. Bren's friends are already standing around Bren. There's Sara, Tyler and a couple of other guys that Elle doesn't know her name.

“Love letter, huh?” ask Sara to Elle.

“One thing you should know, I love you,” Sara read the end of Elle's letter out loud. Everyone laughs.

Elle was so embarrassed. Really embarrassed. He wanted to run home and hide behind a blanket. However, his feet froze. His face was red. Elle felt that the red color on her face was lighter than her hair color.

Elle tries to snatch the paper in Sara's hand. However, Sara raised her hand high, making the shorter Elle than Sara have trouble grabbing the paper. Everyone laughed as if Elle was the most ridiculous joke.

When the letter in Sara's hand was almost successful Elle seized, Sara kicked Elle's leg shins very hard using the tip of her shoe, to make Elle fall rested on the grass.  Everyone's laughter grew louder and louder.

Elle almost cried. But, trying to hold back her tears so that her embarrassment does not increase.

Just about to get up and leave, Elle's eyes caught her artificial chocolate falling on the grass in front of her. Elle raised her head and looked towards Bren who was staring at her flatly.

Bren drops an empty gift box to join the chocolates that are already scattering on the grass.

Bren breezed his feet closer towards Elle who was still sitting on the grass. Her feet stepped on the chocolate-brown Elle gave her. He squatted down to align himself with Elle. One hand stretched out to raise Elle's chin for Elle to look at. Without Elle realizing it, it turned out that the other students were already crowded standing around to watch the show between himself and Bren.

“I don't like you at all. Even know your name is not. So, I hope I'll never get another love letter or love statement or a silly gift from you. And you know..just now you managed to make my precious time wasted.” Bren took Elle's face off violently, and left.

However, Bren's footsteps paused for a moment. “Ah... and also I give advice to you.” He turned towards Elle who was still silent and had not yet moved from her position. Staring at Elle from head to toe. “Before you express your feelings, you better go to the mirror first. Because your face is as bad as your appearance,” added Bren very cruelly.

There was laughter all around Elle. Along with mocking murmurs. Shortly thereafter, the sound of Bren's car roar away.

Elle looked back. He bit his lower lip trying hard to resist his crying so as not to break. Some of the children patted Elle on the shoulder slowly before leaving. Perhaps feeling pity or how, Elle also did not know. Others whispered of Elle's ridiculous courage to express feelings for Bren.

The tears that Elle had endured since then finally shed as well. Elle tried to remove it with the back of her hand but somehow the tears flowed even more unstoppable. His outstretched hand picked up his shattered chocolate bar and put it in a box.

Sobbing Elle carried the box in her hand towards the trash can and put it in there. He stared at the trash can in front of him. He had to make those chocolates.

While he was lamenting his chocolate-brown, the other students who had yet to leave the school grounds, stared at Elle with varied gazes. From pity stares to scornful gazes, all Elle gets.

“Elle!” Jackson's voice made Elle raise his gaze.

Jackson was already standing before Elle with a gasping breath. His eyes looked worried. He tried to remove the remains of tears on Elle's face. Jackson held onto Elle's shoulder and looked at Elle with an intense gaze. “Are you ok?”

Unable to answer Jackson's question, Elle just cried louder and louder. Jackson immediately pulled Elle into his embrace and rubbed Elle's back gently. Hope to ease Elle's cries.
