Elle finally decides to see Bren after school. And luckily Bren wants to see him. He's waiting for Bren near the back shed of the school.
Elle thinks they need to talk. At least Elle should listen to the story from Bren's side. It would be unfair if Elle just listened to the story from Sharon's side. Could not it be, if it turns out that what happened in the cafeteria was just a mistake?
Both of Elle's hands squeezed the strap of the backpack that was draped on her shoulder. He glanced at his watch. It's only been two minutes, but why does it feel so long ago. Bren didn't show up.
Tuk....
Tuk....
Tuk....
Elle started to stomp her restless legs. Does Bren not want to see him out of anger? Elle gripped her lower lip. He looked down at his two shoes. His brain did not stop thinking about the worst possibilities.
Even to the possibility that Bren hates him. Elle's mind floated imagining Bren looking at her hatefully.
Elle's daydream was scrapped as her eyes caught the man's shoe in front of her. He sighed in relief and immediately raised his gaze. Staring at Bren who had just arrived before him.
"I don't think you want to talk to me anymore" said Bren cynically. Before Elle could open her mouth just for pleasantries first.
"Law.... I just wanted to ask. About the incident. I may have seen the situation wrong. I should have listened to the story from your side—"
"Well, it's a good thing you're self-aware."
Elle's mouth gaped because he did not believe the innuendo sentences that Bren had been throwing. But soon he got control of himself.
"Silence, Elle. You have to master yourself." Elle took a deep breath and then exhaled back. He must not be carried away by emotions to keep his mind clear.
Elle raised her eyes again. Staring towards Bren who had now folded both his hands in front of his chest.
"So, will you tell me what really happened?" ask Elle expectantly.
"okay.... Just short. Your lying, hypocritical friend is troubling my friend. He insulted Sara—"
"I don't think Sharon is like that" Elle murmured softly.
"You just don't know him. He obviously insulted you from behind, yesterday at Sara's party."
Elle shook her head strongly. Sharon couldn't possibly insult him. The girl was very sweet and kind to him. "Sharon cannot insult me. He was always nice to me. And I don't think I've ever done anything to upset her and give her a reason to talk about me from behind. Besides, as far as I know, you guys doused him with milkshakes and pushed him down,"
Bren's laughter broke. Laughter full of ridicule. "Really, Elle? Stop being naive. One day he'll turn around and stab you. He could've made a thousand and one excuses to hate you even if you just kept quiet like a rock without acting anything."
"What did you guys do to me?" asked Elle weakly while looking down.
Bren's face changed. He knew what Elle meant. And I don't know why he's feeling guilty now. Bren had just opened his mouth to explain. But Elle had already raised her face with a disappointed look.
"You humiliated me in front of the students just because I gave you a valentine gift! Was I guilty at the time of causing me to be mocked and kicked to fall? Nah! After I thought again, I was not guilty at all. Youre right. Orangas are just looking for a reason to hate. Even the hated ones don't actually make any mistakes."
"You've been defending Sara ever since." Elle threw her face to the side. He could not look at Bren. Bren just kept defending Sara. People who are cynical and have bullied him. Is Sharon's word true? That Bren and Sara are dating?
"of course! He's my friend!"
"Do you like Sara?"
"What kind of question is that? I certainly like Sara—"
"You must have liked him so much that you've been defending him ever since." Be ill. I don't know why what Elle heard from Bren's lips just made her heart ache. He couldn't hear Bren's words so he cut the guy's words.
"Because he's innocent! And I'm not defending the guilty! You're such a bitch. I'm tired of talking to you. Sara's an important person to me and of course I'll keep defending her."
"Is Sara more important than me?"
Bren hasn't answered Elle's question. The sound of people talking came closer to them. Bren immediately hurriedly pulled Elle into the warehouse. And immediately lock the warehouse from the inside.
Elle was just about to protest because she was suddenly pushed into the warehouse. He almost fell over because he tripped over the mop. However, Bren's palm closed his mouth. The guy put his index finger on his lips.
After Elle calmed down, Bren released his palm awkwardly. I heard a chat outside the warehouse.
Bren whispered, "That's Sally and Jordan. They're both the deadliest gossipers in school! If they see us secretly meeting like this, they'll make—"
"I understand," Elle whispered back.
What are they doing at school at school like this? Elle was tired of waiting for those who never left. His eyes began to sleepy because Bren had just silenced him. They both really snarl each other.
In a sitting position on the cold shed floor, Elle involuntarily fell asleep with her hands hugging both knees. He dropped his forehead on his knees.
Bren turned to look at Elle. The girl's neck will hurt if allowed to sleep in such a position. So, Bren carefully took Elle's head and rested it on her shoulder.
The people outside the warehouse are gone. Bren refuses to wake Elle. It was heartless to disturb Elle who looked so slumbering.
Bren put away the strands of Elle hair that covered her innocent face. Elle looks very calm if she sleeps like this.
The two eyes of Elle that opened slowly made Bren's daydream collapse instantly. The man immediately stood up. Elle almost fell to the floor. Because his body is still partially leaning on Bren.
Bren looked at his watch. "Let's go home. It's almost night. Your parents must have been looking for you," Bren said flatly and sounded indifferent.
Elle looked towards Bren who was looking back at her. The guy looks pissed at her. Is being trapped in the warehouse with him really that bad? Does Bren not like that at all.
The two of them had already walked out of the warehouse and were walking towards the school parking lot. Elle held back her steps to stay slow, to keep her position behind Bren. He doesn't want to walk with Bren.
The cold aura between the two of them really bothered Elle. Uncomfortable feeling to master it. Plus thoughts on Sara and Bren's relationship.
Elle remembered, Bren had yet to answer her question. About who's more important between her and Sara. However, judging from Bren's current attitude, it seems that Sara is more important to Bren than she is.
