Become Tyrant On My Own Way
Chapter 14 – CITY IMPROVEMENT

As soon as I regained consciousness, I immediately visited the room where Nunu lay helpless.

“Basic stupid girl. Why did you sacrifice your life to save someone like me?”

“No! Master cannot say that! For the sake of those who entrust her hope to Master, I beg you, do not let Master say so.”

As soon as Albert heard me speak so pessimistically, he who would normally never raise his voice in front of me suddenly shouted at me.

However, I was swallowed up in despair. It's all a fact that since I'm the one leading this place instead of Big Brother or Leon, then everything ends up falling apart like this.

If it was Big Brother, surely Big Brother would be able to persuade the sacred temple to send more cleric messengers. And if it was Leon, with his rough and intimidating mouth, he could definitely get more help from the magic guild. If so, surely the disaster caused by the king of undead was inevitable.

“But what can I do?! I'm not like a wise brother. I'm also not like Leon who mastered military tactics. I am just a useless prince that caused the death of almost all the soldiers entrusted to him!”

I sat down with tears streaming down my cheeks while holding the unconscious hand of Nunu. I could see how the banshee curse was vaporizing the vitality of the little girl bit by bit.

“Our opponent is the king of undead! One of the twelve direct followers of the demon lord! No one can defeat such an opponent including if it is His Highness the Crown Prince and His Highness Prince Leon! Master has done the best you can so that at least a small part of us can survive.”

“But wasn't it because you protected us with your barrier?”

“If it wasn't the Master who was there, then I wouldn't be able to do it all. Some people survived because Master was involved there so I was willing to protect you. So never think that the Master is useless. I will do everything possible to support Master. Only Master is my life support who has saved me from that miserable life.”

“Albert?”

At that time, I recalled again, why I could have survived so far without the love of my family. That's because there are still two people who are always by my side. One of them was Albert.

I smiled softly in response to Albert's complaint.

“You're right, Albert. After all, I'm a prince who still has stupid followers like you. I can't give up just because of all this. At least first, I have to release the banshee curse first from Nunu.”

“How to, Master?”

Rather than responding to Albert's question, I looked back at Nunu's sleeping face while showing an expression with a face in great pain.

I then began to drain my ice mana onto him to slow down the banshee's curse's effect working.

After I confirmed that the expression on Nunu's face had improved a little, I immediately walked out of the room with Albert back.

The only letter to the head of the holy temple that contains the request of the audience to meet the saintess in order to release the banshee curse that resides in Nunu about the existence of saintess only a person in this world who is capable unleash a banshee-level death curse.

Then the second letter, I addressed it to my younger sister, my youngest sister, Ilene, so that Ilene who is currently in the capital is willing to help me take care of all the financial needs of the Fernand family left behind by the backbone of their family because of my careless orders to use my personal funds from the palace.

I also asked my sister to use about seventy percent of my savings to provide condolences to the other soldiers who died in the fateful incident.

Then after I sent the two letters through the pigeon post through Jilk because I could not show my familiar power in public, I immediately set a step back about the fate of this defensive fortress of Painfinn City.

Well, although in two more months I will be fired as the city lord, at least until that time comes, I can make the lives of the citizens of the city a little better.

However, regarding my mistake that resulted in costing him over a thousand lives, the townspeople again hated me. It also makes it difficult to re-deploy the citizens.

Or at least it was because of the incitement from some culas merchant guild that was angry with me for stealing their large income fields by buying magic crystal stones at a very cheap price and then selling them elsewhere very expensively.

Now, the magic stone crystals produced by the monsters from the monster forest, have officially been managed by the city, which under my policy, is capable of bringing huge profits to the city treasury.

That is why, now the city no longer needs to have trouble in matters of household affairs, including paying the mercenaries.

Well, at least I'm back to the position I used to be in when I came to this town where no one liked me. So of course, I'm used to being in this position.

But armed with my [rightness?], I managed to threaten the citizens of the city to keep obeying my orders. Thanks to it, the city was able to quickly return to its stability even after the catastrophe of the king of undead had just happened.

However, there was a serious problem, the three counties no longer sent their soldiers on the grounds that I was negligent so many of their soldiers died in vain.

I nearly failed to control Albert, who was about to raise his sword to cut the necks of the county lords, as soon as Albert felt a deep humiliation coming from the count towards me.

However, by taking advantage of my status as a royal prince and by emphasizing the charge of treason against the kingdom to them for trying to escape the obligation of protecting the royal stronghold that had been entrusted to them, reluctantly, he said, the count also sent as many soldiers as they could.

But that number is still very less. That was less than a third of the previous amount they had sent. But I can't blame them because they have sent the maximum number of soldiers they can send. It all comes back to my mistake that has led to the death of many of their soldiers.

In the midst of that difficult situation, I could not believe that Big Brother's help had come to me. With Brother's authority as crown prince, he rewarded me an additional third of the capital's soldiers needed for the fort's defense.

Then the remaining one third, I covered it by increasing the number of hired mercenaries. After the economic state of the city improved thanks to my policy on magic crystal stones, adding about thirty times the number of rental soldiers from what was once hired, was no longer a big deal.
