Caleb drank the entire cup in one mouthful. The alcohol made him feel like his throat was burning.
Since Ethan had already said it, there was nothing else he could say.
"I'll try to think of something" Caleb said. "But I really can't guarantee anything. I'm just a kid in the syndicate, you know that."
Of course Ethan knows.
Caleb is not an ambitious person and just wants to enjoy a comfortable life. It was extremely rare inside the Masamune Syndicate.
Being the chief of the main shrine in Tokyo was definitely the pinnacle of his career.
Will he go further?
He has that chance. If he used Ethan back then, he would have risen in rank long ago, but he knew that the higher that rose, the colder the wind blew.
It is more important to be happy, and to stay alive.
If one died, then no amount of power and wealth would mean anything.
Caleb stands.
His face was slightly red after downing several cups of sake at once.
"You wait for me here, I'll go to the base to see it."
Caleb waved his hand and arranged for some people to take care of his guests. He sighed and glanced back at Ethan with a worried face, but Ethan ignored him.
He had no choice but to wear wooden clogs and cut them.
"Looks like he didn't want to" whispered Diane.
"He's a man who's very afraid of trouble" Ethan said, taking food for Diane. "He's that kind of donkey that only takes one step if you whip him. It's okay, get used to it."
"Taste the food, this is all the delicious food found in Tokyo, give it a try."
He doesn't care what Caleb will do and just wants results. Caleb is a smart guy and knows what he has to do.
Of course Caleb knows Ethan's temperament well. After so many years, he could forget anything about his own parents, but he never dared to forget Ethan's temperament.
He never liked coming here, and over the past few months, he had hoped to go further than her. But Ethan wants him to gather information, so he has to come here.
He had just reached the entrance of the headquarters when the person guarding outside saw him and immediately called out respectfully, "Master Caleb!"
Caleb ignored him and his tray kept crackling as he entered.
As soon as he entered, the person at the gate relayed the information.
Caleb is here!
Caleb could not be bothered as he continued walking with his hands behind his back.
He was familiar with this place, and knew exactly where he was going to meet whom.
"Mr Caleb!"
As he had expected, someone called out to him just as he reached the path beside the pavilion.
He frowned slightly and turned to look.
"Ah, Mr. Mario."
"Mr Caleb, you really came to headquarters." Mario looked at Caleb with a surprised face. "I tried to find you at the temple a few times but your men said you weren't there. A rare visit!"
It's very difficult to meet Caleb. He knows that Caleb deliberately avoided them all.
"Mr Caleb, have you considered what I talked to you about last time? I'm sure you know how sincere we are on our side."
Caleb waved his hand a little impatiently. "Let me reconsider."
He was too lazy to speak again and continued walking with his hands behind his back.
But less than 100 meters later, someone else stopped him again, and after some polite conversation, the same question popped up again.
"Mr Caleb, standing on our side is the right choice. You still have a chance to choose now. If you wait until the dust subsides before choosing, it will be too late."
"Mr Caleb, this opportunity only comes once!"
