Having an elder in the house is the same as having a treasure in the house. At least Jasper was able to calm everyone down.
Malcolm nodded. "understand."
He then walked out of the back door instead of the front door while Jasper prepared himself mentally. "Let them in."
In a short time, several muscular dark-skinned men entered.
They were all wearing the same uniform, and it was clear that they were from the same mercenaries.
And they came from quite a well-known army in the area.
"Hello Mr. Merlyn, we meet again." Guest Jasper smiled and was rather polite as he reached out to shake Jasper's hand. "I'm sorry for suddenly visiting you."
Jasper smiled back, but he knew that these people had no regrets at all.
They couldn't even be bothered to be polite at all!
There was a knife hiding behind their smiles.
"I would not say that a visit from Mr. Halen is considered a nuisance. We're all friends, so I have to be polite." Jasper pointed towards the chair. "Please sit. Please get us some tea!"
Even though he had come to a place torn apart by war and strife, he still had some basic manners. Serving tea to his guests was a practice Jasper maintained.
The aroma of tea filled the room, but it was clear that Halen was not interested in tea. He just casually took a sip and put his teacup back.
"Mr Merlyn, I'm sure you know why I'm here. Have you thought about my proposition before?" Halen looked at Jasper. "In a place like this, a little outfit like yours might disappear overnight. So why not join us? You will still lead your men, and our lieutenant will definitely give you a high position!"
"With us protecting you, you will be able to expand your own sphere of influence without anyone else getting in the way. Isn't that a good idea?"
He picked up his cup of tea and sipped a bit of it. The movements are elegant and relaxed.
It was as if he had not heard a single thing Halen said at all.
"Mr Halen, tea needs to be enjoyed slowly and tasted carefully," he said calmly. "People should smell the tea before drinking, then taste the sweetness after drinking."
Halen frowned slightly and started to get impatient. He disliked drinking tea and felt that chugging a bottle of vodka was more fun.
"Mr Merlyn, I don't like drinking tea" Halen went straight to the point.
"But we're the ones who drink tea" Jasper smiled. "I like to drink tea, but you don't, and I guess your lieutenant doesn't either, right? How are we gonna work together?"
Halen tried to suppress her anger.
"Mr Merlyn, have you ever thought about how you can continue to live peacefully in such conditions?"
"I thought about it before I came here. And I am 100% sure that I can continue to live here peacefully." Jasper did not humble himself, nor did he give up at all.
This is not Halen's first visit here. In fact, this was already the third time, and Halen's attitude was now more aggressive compared to the last two times. He had already lost his patience in talking to Jasper by now.
Halen was from the Purple Moon Charge Army, and was a highly skilled fighter under his lieutenant!
Halen came because she wanted to take all the people Jasper had and also to take all that Jasper had spent his time and effort fighting for to fortify his own army. There was no way Jasper would let him get all of this so easily.
"Mr Merlin!" Halin stand. "The Chinese have a saying about how a sincere person makes three calls. This is my third visit here, so are you not going to seriously consider my offer?"
"Hoho, Mr. Halen, I really can't consider it at all because it's not me who decides." Jasper sat in his chair and smiled. "My boss is no fun."
